This is the month of Kartik. In Hindu religion, this is celebrated as the most auspicious month of the year making all the people engaged in devotional activities. In the Vaishnava calendar, this month is called the Damodara month. Named after the Lord whose belly was tightened by a rope.
This pastime of the Supreme Lord where He was chased by Mother Yasoda and finally caught and punished by being bound with rope.
This is a most wonderful Leela of Lord Krishna when He was just 3-4 years old. The Supreme person who is supremely independent is being caught and bounded up, He whom even the fear personified is fearful, He is running away in fear of the stick of Mother Yasoda.
This playful pastime of the Lord renowned as the Damodar Leela or Dama Bandhan Leela is the most celebrated pastime which the devotees chant every day and offer lamps to the Lord in this month of Damodara.
When Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami Srila Gurudev is explaining this Leela we can feel that He is not telling any story but just giving live descriptions of what He was seeing.
These unique descriptions in such detail can be given only by an Acharya who is an eternal associate of the Lord and is witnessing all these pastimes with the Lord.
We are very fortunate that we have this treasure of Katha given by Srila Gurudev which we can translate into Hindi and able to hear and relish.
Eventhough the quality of the translation have many loopholes but we hope that the hearer can be able to derive the real meaning and message of Gurudev's lecture.
