- Columbo presents all the evidence to the suspected killer and finally make an arrest for suspicion of murder. The greatest detective in action! From "Death Hits the Jackpot" featuring Rip Torn.

I loved the way Rip Torn played his villain character in this Columbo story!
Intense exchange during the first 20 seconds of the video. Grade A acting by both actors.
A phenomenal episode. Rip Torn overplayed his role a little bit. But watching the Great Lieutenant reel him in was - great, as always.
You don't hire a man like Rip Torn for a subtle, nuanced performance!
This was one of the better later Columbo's........i liked the way Rip Torn played his character!
Love the way he lures them into a trap.
This is a great ending. Great acting by everybody and Rip Torn is just cracking up. Love the Columbo movies.
The ending is impossible im real time true fantasu
One of my favorite movies. brilliantly written.
I remember watching this episode as a kid, it made an impression cuz of good acting story-line and amazing plot.
The red head left an impression too I bet! 😉
Same. I remembered how he laughed at her in the final scene :)
Anyone else burst out laughing at the woman's outburst at the end? That actress thought she was in a comedy.
funnier than a comedy show
This was one of the best episodes...
Columbo for the win. Great scene!
I remember this one quite well. Two birds, one arrest.
Have to say, Columbo was much better in the 70s than the later episodes from the 90's. But Peter Falk was the best!
Even the newer ones have the same attractiveness ,extremely well written and acted and that is what made Colombo one of the best shows in TV history.I loved the newer ones as much as the older ones and so happy to see Peter Falk doing them again.I remember when A&E and Bravo would take turns airing them, now it is METV on Sunday nights at 8.....never miss it still and I know the shows word for word !
+clemenza24 Its because Peter Falk was Executive Producer in the latest episodes. That was a bless to the "Columbo" series. Oh... one small thing... excuse me... Peter Falk was a Genius and may please R.I.P.
one more thing,I forgot to mention ,may i have your autograph please sir it's not for me its for my wife,Mrs columbo she is a huge fan,she has seen all your movies she just loves them
This was classic Columbo....book 'em!!!!!
The new ones were never as well acted nor written; too camp too often and so protracted.
Leon singing like a nightingale! :))
Anyone notices that, Columbo looks at the camera at the end?
Yes i saw it
I guess he expected a retake because he couldn't deliver his line, but the actress was so magnificent in her escalation timing that the director want to keep the take.
"Lying, treacherous bitch!"
Bwahahahaha!
Fantastic line!
@Tom1979NY he is so sweet. I love how at the end he gets serious and he always says "book 'em. suspicion of murder" its so cool. he does that too at the end of Columbo Goes to College. I'll have to post that clip
Nagyon örülnék ha a Columbo filmek magyarul beszélnének.Kérem a szinkronizáltakat feltenni. Derrick sorozat után a Columbo volt a kedvenc sorozatom. Köszönöm.
At least he got revenge on the girl
by the way, this is interesting because one of the few times where columbo gets very serious when lamarr says "cut the bull!"
2 great legends in one video
Rip torn
Peter FALK
"OK book 'em, both of them!"
True! Although I love Peter Falk in general, not only for his role of Columbo.
His nephew offered him 10% to help. He could have had $3m (or $2.4m), and he could easily have gotten more out of his nephew, given his affection towards his uncle. Instead his greed leaves him with absolutely nothing.
The lengths his character goes to to steal the money isn't really matched by the ending imo, simply laughing as he walks out, like he doesnt care. Still a great episode ofc.
To Ashar Shah.
This is from IMDB
(Lt. Columbo's first name was never revealed thou some believed it to be Frank or Philip (because of a badge flashed in "Dead Weight" which has something that looks like one of those names scribbled on the bottom)
Lt Frank Columbo - I do not remember when, how and by whom, but remember it has been proven beyond any doubts :)
I loved and will love Peter Falk as long as I live, chiefly because of his Columbo part, but there have been so many other fantastic roles he had played.
It's been seen on his police badge in a few episodes. I don't know who discovered it, though. And I agree. R.I.P Peter Falk, 1927-2011
Lauren Cowen
He wouldn't have his name on his badge just a badge number. It would be on his police IDS card they keep that right next to the badge. At least in all the cop shows I've seen.
You're correct. In this video around the 1:10 mark it shows just that: watch?v=u3aA0Jq8eGM His signature is Frank Columbo
Cheers to all fans of late Lt Frank Columbo.
There will never be anyone like him....
High time to reach to my DVD library to take delight in watching a part or two :)
Does anyone know the name of that classical piece playing when Leon Lamarr gets back to the costume party right after Eddie is murdered?
What a name ......RIP Torn
Jack - best actor in Hollywood.....
I with you on that 1 subzero!! :-)
This is a good episode, but nowadays if you have a large winning ticket, Camelot ask you where you bought the ticket so they can check the ticket serial number with the lottery machine database to prove that it's actually yours
@MalnourishedGoat
I will see that movie. Thank you very much.
R.I.P. Peter Falk
Zed could have just neuralized Columbo
I was looking for a comment like this. Thank you!
Oh and one more thing, of course I won't die!
R.I.P. Mr. Falk
Book em Danno
Impossible situations in real life
Boy, I say, boy
Excuse my stupid question, but do you know the name of the attractive song which the Freddi's friends sing all together ? :)
It's called "Where have all the flowers gone" by Pete Seeger
Thank you very very much !
Could somebody please explain the difference between the ranks of Lieutnant and Inspector here? I'm not American, so I'm lesa familiar it and never got at what point or why they switched!
Commissioner, then chief of Police, then Inspector, then Captain, Then Lieutenant, then Sargent, then corporal, then officer. From top to bottom.
Bob Spera Thanks a lot! 👍
What about the rank of 'detective'?
Also depends on where the police agency is situated or what level of government.
In some cases an Inspector is really just another name for Detective/Investigator, not necessarily a rank, so-to speak.
Thank you soooooo much! I read "officer" like "what? an officer is higher thana lieutenant? I had this wrong all my life????" Then I saw from top to bottom. hahaha:
Thanks so much
Has Rip Torn not aged?
"Bye bye sky high IQ" had the best ending in my opinion....
gonna check that right now. My favorite was when he asked the murderer to use his phone, and the paging sound came from within the wall where the victims body was hidden
i can imagine that woman getting prepped for jail :)
Freddie’s Dad! Tom Green movie? Anyone?
@alguien1234 I'm partial to Phillip Marlowe, but Holmes and Columbo are both neat. Check out Faulk in "Murder by Death," playing a Phillip Marlowe, Sam Spade type P.I. to intentionally hilarious effect.
The King George
"The greatest detective in action!"
Ummm... The greatest detective for me is Sherlock Holmes (Doyle's books, not movies), BUT Columbo is really great too.
I'll stick to.... Poirot. Yep.
I like Jack in his hat
Not really a fan of tbe 80s 90s columbos but i did like this one
Ummm...
Well, you should also see "Mikey and Nicky", for example xD.
