When you have never touched a pair of rings, these men look impressive.
After you try to do some basic beginner exercises on the rings, you realize, these men are damn-near superhuman.
For reall
Was thinking the exact same thing while I was watching.
Just started rings this year, never has a comment been so true.
@@anishpatel9943 I won't be suprised if it takes me 18 months just to do a dip!
Oh hellfkn yeah. I just began regular ring training last week. Holey moley.. mad respect for these dudes...
I feel like this area of gymnastics is very underrated. The sheer strength to do this is insane
@Eric Cartman Two different strengths that aren't easily comparable. Although, rings gymnastics has far more carryover to weightlifting than vice versa
@Eric Cartman Yes, the two strengths can't be compared in a 1:1 ratio, but Coach Sommer's athletes were actually able to bench and deadlift a considerable amount of weight after never having touched a barbell. Obviously not squat, you're never really using your legs under a load in gymnastics. But if you can planche, you can curl a lot of weight chances are. If you can Iron Cross or Maltese, you can bench a lot of weight, your pectoral muscles are used to the load.
@@tia4361 so is it true that if I can master the still rings, I can do any upper body barbells or dumbbells exercises? If that's the case... Rings for upper body and barbells and dumbbells for legs.
@@Fahad-369 thats generally what most people do for calisthenics
@@Fahad-369 Look yo Brandon Wynn benching 400lbs. He’s a rings gymnast who doesn’t lift weight all too often.
I remember when I was 10, I saw olympic gymnasts doing rings on tv, and I thought to myself: that doesn’t look too hard, I bet I could do that...
I was a stupid 10 year old
😂 Ignorant adults are the same bro
In PE class I tried still rings couldn’t keep them still!
Bruh I thought they were just all wussies but damn was I wrong as I got older
you don't become capable without trying again and building from regressions.
I can't even imagine the strength you'd need for this!
cj222100 yeah we all those who knows and understands the sport agrees its insane
cj222100 imagine if you had it
It’s probably 4-6 times the strength I have right now
Witch is just positively nuts
@King Croc I think you're talking about the maltese
@@nvondoom545 he's talking about a victorian cross.
And here I am struggle with Planche on the floor..
They all struggled alot ;)
they did too at some point dont give up;)
Planche is not a beginner move though, we all struggle
lmao, im struggling with a front lever, get on my level

Yuri Chechi is the best!

Non è più forte di loro
I speak Portuguese, and on the part with Yuri Van Gelder, the commentators were talking about how he is amazing on rings and like Chusovitna he is one of the oldest ever competing gymnasts and bla bla, but how his major problem has always been his dismounts. They said he tried flipping backwards, tried forwards and tried twisting but it never worked well, so he ended up going back to his basic double layout, which always takes a ton of deductions because it doesn't meet the dismount difficulty requirements in the code of points. It's so true it hurts, he could have kept winning medals if he just worked on getting a slightly better dismount, even one twist would probably do it, but unfortunately it never happened :/
Yeah he is one of my top 5 favourites. Very unfortunate, almost tragic, he always delivers but never seems to make it because of these small things.
The still rings have always been my favorite event.
For me Jordan is #1 in this video
Jordan's event was amazing for sure.
Number 2 in the ranking would have been fairer.
Hung up my first pair of rings 2 days ago, and can't believe how hard the simplest holds/movements are. I swear, you feel like a toddler in Gold's Gym. Don't believe me? Spend $35 and you'll be shocked.
Even staying still is a challenge in the rings
CHECHI WAS PERFECTION...

"nobody dares to go that low on an inverted cross" true! What a beast! And OMG Iván ivankov from inverted cross to handstand... Wtf??
Nice list, however Balandin Is missing ;)

3:19. What the actual heck.
One of the hardest skills and transitions on the rings. So clean, too. Just crazy.
@@VendettaMax I think the victorian cross 6:08 is the hardest skill
@@ErikDerElektriker youre right
@@ErikDerElektriker Idk
If that's the case then the strongest you can get on rings would be a front lever-victorian cross-reverse planche with straight arms
A dude can do it,only from front to vic cross tho and with straight arms his name is Manuel Caruso,he's very underrated
@@erenyaeger7662 i don’t reverse Planche is possible yet but in the future it would be.
Where the hell is Yuri Chechi?

he's not that good

Съгласна!
Holy crap. Chris Lamorte is on here? I went to High School with that guy. We trained under the same coach. Although I was no where near his talent.

Their full body control and static strength is insane.
Jordan Jovchev the best!!!
For me, L. Petrounias is the best of the best.
Petrounias is fantastic and did a great job this weekend! I am just a little more old school, following the sport since the late 1980s, so my all time favorites might be a little less current too
Awesome!
number 1 is outstanding
I like them all. Was watching for my opening move (inverted pull through to a handstand from the still position). The length of the ropes is shorter now than in the olden days and that makes a BIG difference and they have the weight across their wrists on most of the strength moves and sometimes the arms are not fully straight with the crosses... But they are all superb (Stanford gymnastics 1965-66).
Honestly. I can’t believe humans can do this. This is so incredibly difficult most people can’t even fathom it.
9:33 "not bad", why u no woruld shamppiun yet?
That asian stereotype is too real tho 😂
Mariano Choi Haha!!!!
TALK TO ME WHEN U WORLD CHAMPION!
It's so sad
The fact that im only level 8, I've tried a cross, XTREMELY HARD and the face that some people can do a Maltese, is FRICKING CRAZY
My shoulder joints hurt looking at this.
Si tutti bravi ma in questa classifica manca il migliore, il grande Yuri Chechi !!
I recommend watching Szilveszter Csollány's competitions. (Gold Olympic medalist in 2000)
I am actually a fan of Csollany too (he is the same age as me), he's just not in my top 7!
Genious bro
The last years Eleftherios Petrounias is the best
Everyone wonders how much strengh you need for doing this, here is the Calculation(I know its nerdy but I find it very interesting)
Look at the position of there Arms
Just try to hold two Dumbbels in the Exact position(turn yourself in the right position》for example in Maltese they hold themself above the rings, so you have to hold the Dumbbell above you while laying on the ground...
If you want to hold the position you have to hold 40% of your Bodyweight in each Dumbbell, cause your arms are the angle where you deliver force
So if you weight 72kg you have to hold 30kg in each hand..
Nope, it's much harder than that. While doing a Maltese, your shoulders, core, hip flexors and quads are all extremely stressed too. You are just calculating the stress on the chest.+ the arms are In a wide angle, not perpendicular to the ground
@@nanonasone3113 no I dont... even the gymnasts themself say that these exercises are exacly like the real hold... I think you misunderstood my example... you dont have to hold the dumbbells above you, you have to hold them wirh straight arms just like a maltese but inverted... try doing that with 40% bw in each hand
@@nanonasone3113 czcams.com/video/cJxtLAfn_ks/video.html
This explaines it perfectly
@@maxcalix9195 you are calculating the push strength necessary, but performing a Maltese doesn't only require muscle strength but also joint and core/lower back strenght to stabilize the move and hip flexors strenght to keep the legs straight. It's harder than that
its even more tough
Man from bulgaria its a legend
Inspirador.
They make it look easy
Great 😁
Dong Zhen's iron cross is Godly.
superhuman !!!
Man!... these cats are bad, rings is where it's at, good pick.
I've only seen pull to an iron cross a few times... very impressive.
Thank you.
You are welcome!
I'm inspired.
#5 Chris Lamorte should be #1!
holy shit this is incredible
Good vid, order off a little. Jovtchev , and Zhen clearly superior to Yuri, Chris, and Danny. Chen Yibing, and Aleksandr Balandin should've made the list. Awesome video!
+Nick Richardson Hey thanks! (these are just my personal favorites, but am a fan of many more. Balandin and Chen are great too)
I REMEMBER AS A 12 YEAR OLD HOW STRONG AND HUGE THE Japanese OLYMPIC gymnastic TEAM WAS ON tv JUST BEFORE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL . WHEN I WAS EXSPOSE TO THE RING AND POMMEL HORSE . AFTER 2 SEMESTER . I've RECIEVED MUTIPLE COMPLMENTS . PEOPL OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL WERE ASKIN HOW MUCH WEIGHT ARE YOU LIFTIN .HOW MUCH BENCH PRESSING AE YOU DOING . WHEN I WAS NOT DONG ANY BENCH PRESSING . STRICKLY BACK YARD RING AND A POMMEL HORSE ROUTINE .PULL UP BARS . I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD CALISTENICS . YET I WAS BUFF . AND ALWAYS SORE . THE REWARD WAS HUGE SHOULDERS AND GUN . SORE BICEPS VAIN POPPING OUT . I LOVE THIS SPORT .
Aren't the elbows hyper extended at 0:28? These moves must be amazing for strength but I'm scared of what they might do to joints, if someone could let me know if I'm imagining that I'd appreciate that
He looks a bit double jointed? Nonetheless: it's ok. Yes, the joints are under a huge and incredible stress - that's why people who do this, have been doing these elements and routines since early age. They've been adapting their tendons, their ligaments, the whole articulation to handle such a stress so it's safe for them.
#4 Legend
idk man the dude that did Tue L cross was pretty amazing I'd gave to put him #1 on my list
It’s easy to like all the best 😂
The best its only one: JURY CHECHI - Italy
where is yuri chechi?
Жестко!)
Where is Yuri Chechi?
Chechi was great, just not in my personal top 7 favorites. I did just make a video on him
Do you know his personal background story about comeback for a bronze 2004 olympic medal? If you don't cry with that shit...
Thats RAW horse power boys
I cannot take seriously this list without Juri Chechi in it! But ok, he was rubbed already of the Gold in Athens 2004, so no surprise he is deprived of recognition here too.
This video is just his favourite athletes, not the best
Most people have NO CLUE how difficult the victorian cross @ 4:40 is😲😲😲
Houdini I think most people have no clue how difficult any of these elements are. My girlfriend asked me if I could do the Iron Cross and I just like "of course not", and then she said something in the sense of "but you most have been able to when u was about 13 right?"...
Have you ever heard of Csollány Szilveszter?

Yes and he was fantastic and I am a fan. Just not in my personal top list
but yuri chechi
Лучший Данни Радригуес! Его три элемента никто в мире не делает.
The bulgarian is way better
I have to disagree with your rankings. Categorically Dong is technically better than yang mingyong. Yan's inverted cross would be deducted as it's not level and he always struggled on this dismount. Anyhow, preferences are subjective and I liked that you included Danny!
Viva Brasil!
love it. I think Chen Yibing should have been a part of that list though.
+Austin Tucker And brandon Wynn
I really want to start useing these rings, does anyone know which ones are the best?
I think you can probably get some rings with straps from Amazon i would imagine and any kind should work if they are regular size

U don't love Arthur Zanetti? 😟
4:50 new element? Easier then a full VC?
Hey Dean, in my opinion Danny Rodrigues was trying to do a piked victorian here and only competed it like this once. After that he made it more like a V cross (I personally like it done this way but don't know if it went into the code of points as a new skill)
I think no:7 is the best out of his 7
Chris Lamorte👍👍👍
Yuri van gelder ❤️💪

1# Yuri Van Gelder
I'm a gymnast and I still have no clue how you get this strong
you just do still rings since early age till you hit 20 years old that you find yourself with immense strength lol
This list needs to be updated and include Petrounias
My sister is only 6 years old she does front flips around the sofa and does creepy back bend and starts crawling like a crab and hand stands she is dobul jointet her bones pop out of her socets its grim
Weard talent
Silly question, do these guys have to take performance enhancing substances to have such superhuman strength?
you never know what other things people do, but rings strength can be attained through hard work and training! (and some people also just have a higher natural strength to weight ratio which can also give them an extra advantage)
you can kinda tell which guys are on peds. probably jordan.
Petrunias?
Yuri Van Geller can ease up on the carf training ... its like 2 kilo extra weight on the legs.
