    3:06-3:19 her voice benefited soooooooooo much from the surgery she had to remove her vocal nodules. Compared to the vocals from Volta live, she sounds 10 years younger there!

      Sorry. I didn't say it properly. Now, just look at her upper belts. It tends to bloom and shine at high notes, her tone color in this area is bright and isn't like mezzo whose sound would get thinner and loses support

    Great vocal range video! Not a fan of her whistled notes (although they do sound funny) and of her lower department, but her A4-E5 area is very enjoyable...

  • @Vandaleer
    @Vandaleer Před 9 lety +23

    she barely 5th octave from chest anymore. it's crazy. she lost a big chunk of her voice even from the biophilia era. it's really crazy. i just seen her live last night. she barely touched a c5 last night. b4 was her money note last night and that's lower mid for a soprano.

    • @hellyeah192
      @hellyeah192  Před 9 lety +22

      Sherodd Moore Björk vocals are like a roller coaster, her voice was almost gone on Medulla/Vespertine era, but then returned with full power on Volta era.
      Her chest notes are ok she can go higher if she wants, I'm more concerned towards her H.V E5/F5s on the pleasure is all mine, they should be easier to her.

    • @Vandaleer
      @Vandaleer Před 9 lety +5

      HellYeah! they were almost gone during then? she made some of her most powerful songs then. like pagan poetry and oceania. i feel like her voice took the biggest dip ever. she literally went on a tour and barely touched the 5th octave (judging from youtube performances of the vulni tour and my attendance.) it wouldn't sound so significant if she had a stronger lower range but she doesn't. it's not her voice type. her range gave her more to play with dynamically. ahhhhh. i'm optimistic though.

    • @hellyeah192
      @hellyeah192  Před 9 lety +17

      +Sherodd Moore Pal, leave the studio performances on studio I'm talking about live vocals, did Björk ever sing Pagan Poetry live on the same way that she did on studio? Never, also the best Oceania lives were done during Volta era
      Just watch any performance done on 1999-2005 her chest voice was sore and tired (with few exceptions), I watched almost all Björk live performances on YT I know what I'm talking about.
      Her voice is ok now she even did good on the "I See Who You Are" E♭5s they have the same quality of Hunter E♭5 of Voltaic tour.I'm currently doing a Biophilia/Vulnicura era vocal range video, I'll finish it as soon as Vunicura era ends

    • @hac2011
      @hac2011 Před 8 lety +8

      +Sherodd Moore I saw her live in NYC in June and her voice seemed intact... did both E5s in "Hunter" , and several Eb5s in "Bachelorette". The voice was resonant and without the rasp that had crept in before her vocal surgery.

    • @MrTonyInchpractice
      @MrTonyInchpractice Před 6 lety +3

      riverside chapel performance was flawless. her canal plus medulla recitation heard her in fine voice. as did the bbc medulla short set. her voice for biophilia set on jools holland was good, too, considering it's either mid or post nodule. her biophilia show in paris, i think it was, saw her belting and even "chaaaaaar"ing again in songs like Unravel and Solstice.
      her voice broke/she broke her voice on the volta tour.
      her vocal journey can be well traced by watching her performances on jools holland (his studio is designed for sound, so it's a little nearer a controlled experiment)...
      debut/aeroplane with D'Influence- a beautiful voice.
      post- a beautiful voice.
      homogenic- majestic.
      for vespertine i'm using Riverside Chapel (intimate, great acoustics)- majestic.
      for medulla i'm using canal plus (small studio, all the band)- apart from some problems controlling the power, it was bjork fighting fit (voice not as beautiful tho- somehow. a little harsher and less sweet.definitely not as good as before, but still impressive and capable).
      volta (jools again)- her voice is broke.
      biophilia- her voice is *much stronger* than volta. but bjorks voice is forever changed. so is her music, her collaborators, her touring practices, her marital status...
      i think, given the right song, the right venue, 6 glasses of water, 7 phonecalls and i think she could still really floor us.

    Not to be a downer, but some of those notes she produced in 7th and 8th octave sound a lot like reverse phonation.

    • @mlaygo
      @mlaygo Před 7 lety +16

      On a lot of them, particularly the last two, the Bb7 ("peaks on C8") and the C8 one, you can clearly hear her inhale, before producing the high pitched noises, her highest notes/pitches, at least, are not inverse-phonation.

      @raphbtc8699 Před 7 lety +23

      Well I agree for Taylor Swift, but to be fair Beyoncé actually has a bigger range and a way better technique than Björk. Björk's voice is magical but she doesn't have a good technique, like Christina Aguilera, which is why Björk had nodules and got operated, since then her voice is less good. Beyoncé is ranked has the female singer with the best technique, she doesn't hurt her vocal cords and has a perfect control of her voice. She's been trained since she was twelve though!

      +PleaseEnterAName As a choir kid who has taken vocal lessons and classes, I've asked about whistle tone and generally singing that high and I've been told multiple times that yes, you can do it without wrecking your voice if you train yourself to relax your throat, but it can be very hard. Some people just cannot find a way to sing that high without closing up the throat or straining themselves in some way and therefore it's not recommended.

    Why does she always sound the same to me even in this. Especially the fifth octave is exactly the most annoying to hear and that’s where she always sings. Always those same yells and chest-voiced calls.
