I'm gonna guess that all the posters that say Jimi's overrated weren't around in 1968. Is he as good as Yngwie Malmsteen/ Joe Satriani ? Technically, No but Jimi was the GOAT in his day...

I heard from a reliable source the although Jimi hated the Monkees, he loved the Recess Monkeys.

Pick Floyd didn't come into there until after Jimi was gone. Jimi is right.

Well, when Jimi passed (9/18/70), Pink Floyd had already produced their first 4 albums.

Much of Dave Gilmore's guitar solos owe a lot to Hendrix. They even borrowed at least one of his rhythm riffs!?

What a bunch of crap. You think All Along the Watchtower was the best song Jimi played? you obviously haven’t heard much. Little Wing May this be Love. Angel Drifting,Axis Bold as Love. I can go on and on but I doubt you’d get it anyway. Listen to these songs. Come back and tell me his songs weren’t the best he played. As far as Floyd goes they weren’t really together in the beginning. Jimi loved Terry Kath of Chicago. Another player from another planet! Listen. This is AI telling you these things anyway. Jimis been gone almost 55 years now! WOW Over half a century. And he’s as relevant as ever! That’s what makes a musician great. People still talking about what he did for music.

It's easy to talk the talk badly when Jimmy is not here to defend himself. Jimi walked the walk.

I'm not a musician and have seen musicians I admire praise Hendrix, but I was never able to see why. As far as best ever, it's to laugh. Today, with about 600 CDs in our home, there are none by Hendrix. Nor by Pink Floyd, the Monkees or Led Zep. But the Doors were sure great, weren't they. Not always, not when Morrison was drunk, but this was a solid band with a unique organ-driven sound. Three out of four ain't bad.

In my opinion the monkey's where the American big label copycat beatles. Paid actors rather than musicians. Jimmy had his personal sound. Even if it might been because he was to stoned but he revolutionised the way gitarists play electric guitars and his legasy still heard in modern electric guitar bands. Morrison a failed drunken poet but the lead singer of one of my all time American favorites. Pink floyd self proclaimed living legends and led zeppelin best coverband ever. Never really got the greatfull dead thing. There legasy they outlived them selves miraculously.

Just came from a documentary on the Mesolithic, "Middle Stone Age." Now here I am at Rock Gossip and Snark. Jimi Hendrix was brilliant, was terrible. Was under appreciated and over-rated. The Middle Stone Age was a transition into the modern era, was a big mistake (shoulda stayed in the forest). Let's all agree to disagree on just about everything. Saw the Doors when Jim Morrison was so drunk he could barely stand, let alone sing. He sounded like a wounded cave bear. The world almost makes sense when you stop and listen.

Jimi wasn't much himself, he was just another distorted guitar player who was too stoned to realize his guitar was always out of tune, if he was a white guy, no one would have cared

Hendrix is the most overrated musician in rock history. He was a stage show...charisma, great vocals, beautiful black dude, hippies all went wild for him. The best song he performed, All Along the Watchtower, was a Bob Dylan song. Really don't get the hype, basically people just adhering to social crap.

Hendrix stole more blues than anybody.......Zeppelin and Page were so much better than Hendrix........Beck`s Bolero was written by Page....Not Beck!
