  • If you have the Minelab Equinox 600 or 800 and you aren't sure about what Sensitivity actually does to the Equinox then this video is for you. This is another Micro Lesson on the Minelab Equinox 600 or 800. This video will teach you what the best Sensitivity settings are when you should raise it and when you should lower it. Plus, if you are looking for shallow objects there is another tip to that will help you locate those items without going deep. Is there such thing as too much Sensitivity? You bet there is and I'll explain it all in this video based on my own tests and experiments.

    Thanks for your video, just got my Nox 600. I'm coming from a short metal detecting experience of a couple years with the Gold Monster looking for little pieces of yellow metal in highly mineralized soil. And since it is a blizzard the last week I read the manual and watched a ton of videos. Two things I have taken from all the input. Noise cancel should be done with the coil up away from the ground and pointed towards suspected sources of EMI. If you are detecting around other detectors point at them. The other is that Minelab put the row of settings in the order they are best done. Start at the le,ft and work right. Noise cancel then ground balance and go on to others you might want to change. Seems to work for me so far. Hope this is good info for everyone!

Thanks for your tips , you explain things better than the Nox web site does. All the best Harry

    Dead on great info for those just starting with the nox. 25 or max sensitivity is a double edge sword with the nox as sensitive as it is I seem to get a lot of mineral interference when I’m that high 17-20 is where I’m consistently set but if you have success then have at it great video

    I just got Equinox 600's two days ago still learning on the adjustments in settings and yes I did purchase it from this company.
    I'm just trying to learn all the settings so I know what is the sound and the settings to make so I don't get faults readings.
    Assuming I don't need to do ground balance in the preset modes.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  Před 2 lety

      That is awesome! Hope you enjoy it. While most of the time the machine will work just fine with ground balancing you probably should just to make sure its running at peak performance but stay away from using tracking unless you get into a patch of ground that is incredibly unstable.

    Really good video. Thank you for sharing. I was wondering why I am getting so much chatter after noise canceling, when I’m in my backyard. I’ll have to adjust the sensitivity. I’m also gonna try the 17 to 20 sensitivity on popular beaches and then the 25 sensitivity on the less popular beaches.

    Yet again another good video. Right now I have the Garrett AT-Pro and moving towards either the Nox 600 or Nokta legend. But after seeing your video now looking at the Nox 600..which do I go with or stay with the Garrett...

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  Před rokem

      Paul right now Nokta's Legend is edging out the Nox in my opinion but the if you save up a couple of more pennies the NOX 800 would be better than the 600 if you choose that route. If you go with the Legend you will have to update the software to 1.09 otherwise its not as good as the Nox but once you get the 1.09 update that changes the ball game a bit and favors more towards the Legend. Just my 2 cents.

    Great video, I am a deus user getting used to the 800. Been on it for a year, exclusively for the last four months, forcing myself to become more well-rounded. I love 50 tones, full tones in the deus. That way the machine can “emote“ rather than report like a video game.
    I was surprised to see you didn’t lift the coil with noise canceling. I haven’t done any experimentation to see if it makes a difference one way or another. Could be an interesting test. Awesome video series!

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  Před 3 lety

      Yep LOL. You aren't the first to mention that I didn't raise the coil. Best tips I’ve found so far. Thanks. If you had recently lost a gold ring in a grassy field, would you run the park, field, or gold setting?
    I see people specifically hunting for gold while using the park setting. Is the gold option specifically for mineralized gold?

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  Před 2 lety

      I think you could find it either one. Park 2 is designed to hit harder on jewelry but gold will hit but it may come up as low number or hit in the junk range where pull tabs ring up.

    No matter what setting you change you should ground balance and noise cancel. When you ground balance you should pinpoint till you find a spot with no targets. Then do the ground balance. You have to calibrate the machine to the soil. Even if you dont change anything you should do this before you hunt everytime.

    @danmilo Před 3 lety

    Good Stuff and I didnt know that we should noise cancel after any changes... Ill begin doing so now. I have a question a bit off topic. Noticed that you don't really have the coil cable wound around the shaft very tight . I've heard that a loose wind can cause falsing on the machine. I carefully wind my cable to prevent any problem . Is this a valid issue or just an " urban myth " ? Love the channel !

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  Před 3 lety +1

      Glad you love the channel thank you. I have the collapsible shaft so mine is a little loose so I can compact it down but as far as falsiing, I've never had any issues but that is my experience. There is a lot of "false" information out there.
