- Just when you thought the Turbo-can was the last word in spray paint innovation, Rust-Oleum one ups itself with an adjustable spray nozzle that lets you shoot just the right volume of paint into just the right position by clicking a dial built into the cap.

Rustoleum should pay you...and pay me. Ive done entire cars with their products and the Rust Reformer was a true game changer
I don't accept money or compensation from any commercial interests...it's called "journalistic integrity". They don't teach that in schools these days, do they.
@@UncleTonysGarage its a joke, figure of speech. I dont see whats wrong with taking a sponsorship, especially for a product somebody genuinely uses and appreciates.
@@UncleTonysGarageYeah, they still taught integrity and ethics in '13, but it was taught with a wink. It was more of a suggestion and a quaint notion than a standard as it used to be (was it ever a standard?). It is a sad testament to the state of our country. It has rotted from the inside out.
Would a sponsorship on an information based channel not possibly lead to conflicts of interest and biased opinion/reporting?
@@UncleTonysGarage I dont think so. I have no clue about contracts involved. Never had a sponsorship, not a salesman, but theres nothing wrong with a channel making some money, especially if the viewers know that channel takes on sponsors that are genuinely used, and whatnot
I expect the graffiti around here to improve dramatically.
You think they will spring for the more expensive can?
@@mexicanspec The spring will come from everybody else wallet.
😆👍
@@mexicanspecseeing how rampant theft is, the cost won't even be a factor for them
You are right, I forgot about that.@@OtherDalfite
I love how he gets so excited about a spray can. I 100% relate
Now we can clog 5 nozzles at once!
Exactly!
the trick is to turn the can upside down when done to allow just the propellant out, this cleans the tip of paint. Anyone that paints, knows this trick.
@@scottfirman Except their old nozzles were designed to work upside down. Can’t tell you how much paint I’ve wasted because of clogged nozzles. Now I only use paint that cannot be sprayed upside down even if Rustoleum is cheaper.
😂
@@calsbarn5996%100 agree, new rattle cans are made to spray at any angle so the upside down trick doesn’t work anymore. What I do is wipe the nozzle off then immediately swap it over to a can of brake clean and shoot that through for a second. Works every time but obviously this spray nozzle and some other brands have a nozzle that won’t work in this situation. Also (and I’ve never tried) I’ve heard it has to be the non chlorinated brake clean.
My first car was a 1973 Toyota Celica ST. Paid $1 for it. Running great with a terribly worn paint job. I bought 13 cans of Rust-Oleum black enamel, 6 cans of Rust-Oleum clear, 2 rolls of masking tape and a sleeve of assorted sandpaper. In 1985 total cost was around $35. I worked for 3 days sanding it and one day spraying 2 coats of black. then waited 2 days, wet sanded and as many clear coats as I could spray on with what I had, which was around 3 coats. I remember running out before I 100% finished the 3rd coat.
Anyways, the shade that people threw at it came as a compliment because several people said something like "That dosent look bad for a Maco job."
😏 And it did look amazing for a rattle can job. But for people to assume by looking that it was a Maco spray job, I took that as a compliment.
That's one of my cars that I thought was a sh*t box that I deeply wish I had today.
1973 Celicas are today as rare as hens teeth.
Anyways... There's my relatable story for the video.
I remember those cars well. They were fantastic!
History really does repeat itself huh? I bought a 2000 toyota celica gts and did the exact same thing! rustolem smoke grey
@@Mark-mm2px As long as you put in the work for the prepping and avoid shortcuts, a rattle can job looks decent. Like I mentioned, people thought I had gotten a cheap Maco job, which was actually a compliment.
You're 100% right. Most changes to products today are focused on higher profit for the company. Good job on recognizing someone different.
Nothing different, less paint for more money
I wish Rust-Oleum would come out with true auto paint in a can
A nice 2k product would be nice
Factz yo. Would be amazing. But no you want true car paint in a can. Gotta go get ppg. Costs arm n a leg
That would be amazing. But no gotta buy ppg in a can. which cost arm n a leg
@@richardhill7262 PPG is the best. I love their concept single stage paint, used it many times with great results
Arthur, for auto paint you would want PPG or something like it. From spray-can to spray-can there is a slight difference in the final color. Spray bombs by the can would never match. I know from experience in my custom Speed Shop.
I painted the roof of my 1965 galaxy with it. Wet sanded and polished it, waxed it and two years later parked outdoors and it still looks beautiful, you can see your reflection in it. People will tell you you have to use automotive paint and that rustoleum won’t work. It works for me.
Great to know. In the true hot rod spirit, always looking to make improvements with what I have available. Thanks!
I had an old Mitsubishi that was prone to stone damage on the hood. This isn't supposed to happen but there was a Rustoleum color that exactly matched the car's paint.
I've had excellent luck with that rust-oleum paint ,, Finally an American company that has their shit together
Hey Tony,
Tim here, i'm a Duplicolor guy, have had GREAT results with their cans, but i TOTALLY DIG this 5 pos nozzle!!....Duplicolor give 2 choices of vertical or horizontal on every can (which i like), but i REALLY like the other 3 choices here, heavy/std/or lite......i cud use that often when paintin various engine/car parts.....sometimes i need the vertical, but more volume, i cud just twist the nozzle.....and know its more traditional, and wud be able to adjust my spray as needed....SUPER COOL innovation, HATS OFF TO RUST-OLEUM!!!!.....very cool!!
Duplicolor is much better paint than Rustoleum, I won't use anything but. Don't need anything other than the vertical and horizontal fans.
.
Do love me some duplicolor too.
Ever seen those expensive color matched taillights for later model vws?
Blue car, tails tinted blue but become red because of the lenses ,etc there's about 5-6 colors.
Welp, grab yourself a can of metalcast and a clear lens and fog a few coats on and add some clear.
On my current ride ,it's green so I did the clear side markers and bumper lenses.
Looks kinda slick if I do say so myself.

@@karlbishop7481 i'm with u brother, just somtimes i want more or less volume.....this new Rust-Oleum gives me that option......neat we're arguing about spray paint....HAHAHAHAHA......but over all, yea, i'll stick with my duplicolor!!....just like the options this new nozzle offers......my shop RELY's on Duplicolor, best hues, best lay down!!
Best clear coat?
Next week a drop shipment will come with a pallet of cans from "rustoilum" with no return address lol.
They should do that just cause your a Nice guy and it's always in the background. No reason to not send you a few cases of paint. Your already hooked on it. So why not?
Rust-oleum bought Testors, so that's good enough for me.
Like many of us, I was a kid in the 80s building models with my dad. Now I'm a 45-year-old building models with my son.
Just cool to see that old label on the glue and paints.
I don't know why it popped up in my mind last week, but I remember as a kid buying those really small testers spray cans, they had some of the best metallic colors you could buy.
You were definitely styling if you had painted a model with it😂
@@MrTheHillfolk they still have them and look pretty much the same.
The little bottles of brush paint as well.
🟥 Testors Forever 🤪🤪🤪
@paulricelli5520 I used a different brand of bottled paint once when I was younger. It was horrible.
Threw it out and never made that mistake again LOL
Just a thought. The horizontal fan may be best for when you have to paint with up and down motions like say, a swing set.
I painted an old tractor one time with a dead chicken and a bucket of paint 😊
You'd of gotten a more interesting design with a live chicken.
How could the chicken help you if he was dead 😁
A lot of channels claim that they cover a wide assortment of topics but with UTG you really never know what you're gonna get. One episode is the burn characteristics of nitromethane fuel and the next is the cap on a can of spray paint. Keep going with your gut for topics and I'll keep watching 👍
Uncle Tony gets as excited about the tiny stuff as the big stuff. True happiness. Gets as excited telling us about the new stuff, as finding it himself.5 seconds into finding the new stuff, he rips it up to find new new stuff. True happiness. Thanks Uncle Tony.
I've been using Rust-Oleum since the mid 1960s. It definately is the best quality spray can paint. The turbo works so much better than the old style cans for large areas. No tiger stripes with the big fan pattern form the turbo cans. I painted a truck bed tool box gloss black and it is beautiful.
HEY TONY ,,WHEN U TURN THE FAN HORIZONTAL YOU PAINT IT UP N DOWN ,,,AND VERTICAL SIDE TO SIDE ,,OTHERWISE YOU WILL RUN PAINT ALL OVER ,,AM GLAD TO SEE YOUR POST ,,GOOD LUUCK N KEEP PLUGGIN
I've had nice results with this particular paint. But I wish Rust-Oleum would offer more color choices for it's Turbo paint line. That paint is great !
Hey Tony just a heads up you can take those Lids off and put them on your regular Rust-Oleum this way you can use the new fans on your old cans. Also when you're done if you got a container you can soak that lid in acetone for an hour or so it breaks up everything I started throwing the cans out and keeping the tops
They fixed those caps so you can't remove them anymore.
A true gear head like me trying to get other uses out of one product! I love it!
I just saw this at my local box store. Thanks for the update!!
You would use most of the propellant tripping it upside down and cleaning out each nozzle, so just flush/spray with a can of brake kleen !😂
You can't do that inversion thing with Rustoleum. They have that funnybunny shoots-even-upside-down valve, so if you buy a can you better use it up quick.
I love that vertical spray and the fogger before it. Nice
Used a couple of these for a project a few months ago and was honestly impressed with how much I enjoyed using them. They really knocked it out of the park with these cans.
I love how excited you get about good stuff!
Your channel is amazing.
So, now I'll have a bunch of 5 nozzle sprayers that don't work...Why not just invent a nozzle that DOESN'T clog? Rant over.
Tony I have a Rustoleum pistol grip that turns any regular spray bomb into a spray gun !
It snaps down into the top of the can. VERY comfortable to use. Just pull the trigger !
It wouldn’t work with that type though…only the button type.
Neat idea in the meantime.
Thanks for not being a sell out!
I wish I could get as excited about anything, as Tony gets about a spray nozzle on a paint can.
i've triede it as well and love it! Another advantage is if you plug one of the nozzles you have 4 more!
I haven’t used the new 5-in1, but the turbo can was very impressive! It actually feels and sprays like a gun, and is great for painting large parts like car panels. I only wish they offered more colors in the turbo can other than white and black.
Agreed! Smoke gray, sunrise red and royal blue would be awesome in Turbo cans!
If the people who buy the product would make NOISE about more colors I think rust-oleum would have to answer those requests from the public .
Like you, I'm a bit concerned about clogging, and its long-term durability, but the idea is really good. Almost airbursh flexibility.
there is a rustoleum factory near me and I am thankful that they are still in business , still bringing the quality OIL BASED PAINTS we backyard and barnyard workers along with reputable fabricator operations need to maintain a quality job at an affordable price !! Thank you Rustoleum , for great products at an affordable price !!!!
Ive used Rust-Oleum. I've used other brands as well. Had to clean the spray nozzles at times but I've even used engine paint for the mower decks on my vintage lawn boy mowers. This can looks pretty cool. Id probably use nozzles 2 and up. Very cool innovation 👍
The first spray can that shifts gears!
Great when you find something that genuinely makes you happy. That is indeed awesome ! Thanks for sharing
Great product, been using it for over 35 years in various applications. 😊
That simple twist spray cap idea/invention, is enough to make someone a multi millionaire. All you need is a good simple idea like that.
Tony i agree. My work truck is one color only because of those turbo cans
Thanks for this video. I live in Long Island. We just got these to our area. I was curious, but bought the “normal” one. Glad to see this “review” of this one. Thanks again, really enjoy all your videos.
Thank you. I have been using Rustoleum for 48 years. I’m gonna try the fan setting fur sure. Smitty
Number 4 is awesome! I'm a professional commercial/residential painter and that setting is the closest to a spray pattern from a gun. It would feel very comfortable and familiar to me
Tony I appreciate showing us this! Thank you
Dear Rustoleum, this is a great product, now we need turbo cans with this cap
Cool video thank you for taking the time to tell us about this!
Good to see the rust oleum is not paid advertisement.Great overview they ought to at least give you a years supply 😊 I never knew about it and now I will look out for it.
Lifelong Rust Oleum guy too, for the simple reason that it works, and that's all you can ask for. I use Dupli Color to match actual car paint finishes but if its a color that Rust Oleum will handle like engine blocks, frames rails, etc - on it goes.
Most spray paint has had adjustable nozzles for vertical and horizontal for quite a while now. I use a lot of DupliColor and PlasiKote lacquer, and they've had that for many years. I think the fine nozzle would probably work best for me for enamel. I have used Rustoleum and Krylon for decades, and always been pretty happy with it. I actually put off watching this video, because I thought they might have found a way to put a computer in it. Glad to see that so far, spray paint is still computer free.
This nozzle is cool. Great video
Just bought a can of Rustoleum flat white in a spray can. Used it several times, and at the end of use, turned it upside down and sprayed for three seconds. Nozzle hasn’t clogged yet. And, the coating was perfect, the end result was better. Best spray paint ever!
Ever since they have put primer and paint in the same can I have been using it with great results, I have had problems with some of there spray buttons but the paint was great and real durable. I also use the rust remover gel which also cleans aluminum.
Rust-Oleum is great stuff, that's all I ever use too. I started using it when I had rusty metal to paint which works great, but then I liked it so much I use it for everything. The 5 nozzle can is cool, I'll have to see if they have it around here.
I just picked some cans like this today. They do work great!
Fun video! Your enthusiasm is contagious!
Just used it! Awesome!!!
This is why I keep watching, You continue to amaze
I literally found these like 2 days before you made this video I’ve tried it a little bit it’s gonna be handy for a lot of stuff
Great video man I really like the vertical and horizontal spray patterns. Thank you
Very nice innovation... i agree Tony. I have one can i have used
I like Rustoleum but it doesn't last as long for me as SEM products. Costs more but worth it.
Where do you buy SEM products. I have to paint some aluminum and was told their etching prime is great.
That's pretty dope. I look forward to seeing it in my area.
Great review Tony. We'll send you the check tomorrow.
It’s nice to see someone happy about something that we use all the time.
In 1992 I replaced my hood.
Krylon primer over bare metal.
Krylon red finish coats, almost perfect match to car.
Car sat outside 24/7 and the paint lasted 12 years. 👍
I've had 3 PPG $$$ clear coat jobs and all 3 died in 36 months.
I use acrylic enamel now, like UT did on that orange car. 😎😎
I used a couple of those cans to paint a spoiler and I freaking love it. Best thing sinve sliced bread
Nice!
I warm my spray cans in warm water before I spray. Great results
3:34 sunrise red is a beautiful choice, alot of my suspension parts are done in that color.
2 coats of brush on for durability, and 2 coats from a spray can for the gloss.
I saw that Tony it is a little awkward. But it does work. It’s great you’re showing us nome skull’s. This Video. 👍
Good to see that it’s fuel and oil resistant, cos it doesn’t say so on the can, I’m glad you put this video up thanks a lot
It’s $22.99 here in
New Zealand $$’s
Thx for sharing this.
I just brought 4 matt black cant wait to yous in..
Happy days from New Zealand
First time I used one thought it was another gimmick, just gotta remember to clear out the tips before you rotate to another or else you’ll end up cleaning more than spraying like me
I certainly did....thanks!
Thanks for pointing out the spray button.
I do some woodworking and always use Rust-Oleum enamel if I'm going to paint a project. That involves thinning to the proper viscosity for spraying and a lot of cleanup of my spray gun. Sometimes it takes longer to clean my gun then it took to spray my project. Will be sure to give this can a try next time I need to spray something. Also, I've had great luck keeping spray can tips clean by holding the can upside down. Since in most cases only one position is going to be used at a time you'd only have to clean the one position that was used.
That doesn't work with Rustoleum.
The turbo can is amazing. I made a large-ish tractor implement (box grader) and bought a couple of those and painted the thing in maybe 15 minutes--two coats (no concern about drips or anything).
Great video! Thank you.
Painted Frankenstein C20 with Rustolium !!
I wish they would have had these back in the day that is absolutely great
I painted my Cabriolet with rust oleum and even gave it a black side stripe along the mounding indentation. That’s before I painted it with Sikkens paint. Many people thought it was painted with the rust oleum.
I picked a couple of cans the other day at the lower big box store. The girl at the cash register saw it and said what is going on with that. It was the first time I saw it and said it is for different spray patterns. She said you have something interesting there.
Two other times I have been excited about spray bombs.
First, steel it. Paint you can weld through. Second, the fine bed liner I sprayed my early Bronco with. Now this.
Thanks Uncle Tony
I've discovered powder coating. It's not super expensive, when you consider the durability. They sandblast the parts so they look like new.
Working on a friend's '91 Firebird. I call it the Powder Coat Princess. Some is done in an original looking semigloss black, but the control arms and sway bars are in red! My powder coating guy has rattle cans to match the semigloss black.
I'm a diesel mechanic and we have tons of trailers and stuff and we've been using the new cans and it's great when you can pick the spray it actually pretty good idea and I lived in I live in the Rust Belt so we're always touching up trucks and trailers I mean the turbo can is I mean what can I say about the turbo can it's great but these little cans where you can actually adjust the spray Works beautiful as well just for a little touch-ups here and there or when I'm doing engine work and I don't want to spray it all over everything and just want to do one particular little part and don't want to unbolt it from the engine you can get at it with these different nozzles that they have on here it's great
Thanks

I just finished the ultimate budget build on a BMW R100 motorcycle, wanted to see how cheap I could get a running motorcycle from a basket case. I have not tallied the price yet as I still have a few small things to be finished. Rust-Oleum, the chrome plated pannier racks had broken at some point, the PO had welded the racks, (good looking welds) and painted the welds with black spray paint. At the local big box store walking past the spray paints I noticed Rust-Oleum metalic chrome spray paint. Cheap enough so I grabbed a can. Wired brushed the old black paint off the racks, used some left-over spray primer, and painted the areas with the chrome spray paint. I was surprised how good they turned out. 10 feet away and the paint looks just like the 45-year-old factory chrome. Not going to win any shows, but I have a running motorcycle for under $800 with new tires and battery.
I've always used it. I know if there quality starts slipping you'll let us know. So far, they are crushing it.
Jaja the last part got me. I was thinking the same thing. Good to know, it’s a one time use.
Back in the 60's, dad always claimed it was the "fish oil base" that made it hold up outdoors (& why other paint didn't stick over it, & ya had to use their thinner.). My 2nd truck & dropped a chunk of $$ into a paint job, & by spring it was rusting thru my 73 Chevy, lol. That summer I rep!aced the bed, sanded the whole truck & brushed on Rust-Oleum, sanded a little, & then rattle can'd the top coat... Lol, even tho its sitting in my woods, doesn't look too bad for 45+ years!! Thanks for the product update!
I am happy for you finding joy.
I'm building a kit guitar right now and I actively searched for a can of color that had this new cap on it to hopefully make my job easier when I finally get to paint it.
Was able to remove the five way spray cap with my bare hands and install it on another rustolium can that had single spray while in the store before purchasing it a few days ago. Have not sprayed with it yet but the stems look identical. Its a little tight but pulling twisting and leveraging it and comes off.
I watched your Rust-Oleum engine video. I used Rust-Oleum's white primer with a 1/4" roller on my rusty 1989 Chevy Silverado. Rather amazing how well it looks, considering the application method. This new rattle can looks great, yet I doubt I will ever buy another rattle can. Thanks for sharing your tips Uncle Tony.
Good review Uncle. I saw those on the shelf and thought, is just a marketing ploy to raise the price ? Happy to know it actually works 😎
2:07 Wow, good job on not having an old, leaky mess. I really like a clean, dry engine block.✅
One additional good thing about Rustoleum, once fully cured, you can polish it out using 3M Finesse #2 to a shine that rivals PPG Deltron. Its amazing.
AWESOME INFO UT....MOPAR 4 EVER.
very clever design!
The biggest advantage I will get is not out of the variety of spray patterns, but it will give me 4 more nozzles to use as they clog up over time. It will be interesting to see if I can use all of the paint in the can as the nozzles eventually clog. Pattern is not such an issue for me as I mostly paint small parts.
Nice job Rustoleum . Now lets see you offer one that you can swap out nozzles and sell the nozzles by the bag..!!! 👍✌
