    KSP owner for years, at best frustratingly 40% proficient with its features (had not even bothered to learn how to chain patterns 😂).Yours is the first and best video that lays it all in a way that a reasonably competent amateur finally writes all this to internal memory. Fantastic instruction and demonstration. Thanks!

    • @wavester46
      @wavester46 Před 6 měsíci +1

      That is exactly what this keyboard controller is made for. The KSP is a very powerful sequencer that can do way more than most in built sequencers on a synth so just use the KSP. There are many tutorials online to discover everything you want about MIDI, also the manual for the KSP is available. The KSP will send 4 separate MIDI channels, each synth is set to the corresponding MIDI channel. One way to connect the KSP to your synths is to firstly get 3 MIDI cables and connect 2 from MIDI Out( which the KSP has 2) to MIDI in on 2 of your synths then use the MIDI thru port on one of the synths to connect the 3rd. Some synths will have a dedicated MIDI thru port ( In,Out,Thru)while others will have only MIDI In,Out or just MIDI In. Most synths with only MIDI In/Out will allow the MIDI Out to be changed to MIDI Thru (RTFM) . MIDI Thru allows the MIDI data to 'pass through' the synth onto the next from the KSP. Now, seeing you have Semi-Modular Synths you can trigger/sync etc from the KSP but that's different to MIDI. Another cool thing about the KSP is you can hook your PC/Mac at the same time to use drum software for example as what's a good synth setup without drums!

    The new firmware 2.0 supports start/stop via external pedal, using mmc commands. Unfortunately i cant find information of which pedal i could use. Do you recommend a specific pedal? Do i need to use the sustain input for the pedal and how do i config it? In the actual manual its only written, that its possible but i cant find information to do it. The chain function would be very useful but i also want to have my hands free to play bass. When a song starts with a bassintro its not possible to press play on the ksp

    Hey Ive been wondering why the keystep pro wont record if you play the keys of your hardware synth. It only records if you play the keysteps own keys. do u know if theres a way to change that? because sometimes a riff will have notes the keystep doesnt have so I wanna play it on my synth keys cause its keyboards bigger. but it wont record it that way. Thanks anyway if theres not a way. Thanks for the video 50:06

    I didn't know Step Skip existed, and it's great because it effectively gives you a much longer pattern (I'm assuming you can do it with a 64-step pattern, making effectively 256 steps?) My one question: is the number of loop instances fixed at 4, or can you somehow change it to 3?

    Hi folks. I have a synth query. All help appreciated. Esp any owners of the keystep pro
    Disclaimer. I have used synths before BUT this is my first dive into controlling synths externally and first ever time using cv.
    I just bought an arturia keystep pro to control my korg minologue XD, microfreak, model D and volca sample. (I was under the impression I could control all the above with a KSP, sequence and compose dawlessly. Maybe I was mistaken)
    I plugged in all my hardware. Each piece is making sound when played on its keyboard so I know audio is not the issue. My volca keys is hooked up to midi out 1. My minologue to midi out two. The other two are three and four with a single cv
    Here are my three issues:
    1. On track 1 the volca is sounding when I hit a key! Hurray. The problem: it just triggers one sound no matter what key I press (yes, the keystep pro is set to drum mode). Also, when I switch to any other track, the volca is still sounding when I hit a key. But it's a different drum being played.
    2. The minologue is being sounded on track 1 instead of track 2. So I'm hearing a tom drum AND whatever note I'm hitting on the minologue together on track 1, but no sound on track 2. (So track one is triggering two instruments at once)
    3. Track three and four there is no sound coming through. As I've said, I have never used CV before. And I think the issue may be that I need two connections per instrument, one for pitch and one for gate. Is that correct?
    The obvious answer is internal midi needs to be routed differently. Well, I can try! I don't know how this works on the keystep, there seems to be 16 midi channels but I don't understand what that means. Also, I assumed that out of the box it would be routed logically ie. Midi/cv outputs 1 2 3 and 4 correspond to those tracks.
    Could it possibly be a software bug? I've heard they're buggy? Should I do a firmware update?
    Am I missing something obvious? Does anyone have any insight? All help appreciated. Thanks

      Actually arturia makes good manuals in comparison with other developers. The problem with manuals is the structure, if not scripted as a course, or guide.
