It is pretty funny that because we are so linguistically inept the entire world decided ‘oh fuck it fine we’ll just play your way’

I love this song because it starts out almost as an insult to cultures whose languages weren't strong enough to compete with English but, it ends up as an insult to everyone who only speaks English.

@@distantcoff7391 I see a lot of Horne's work as satire which brings slight digs and insults with it.
I may be completly wrong but only Alex and people who know him personally know or can make educated guesses about that.

I learnt a minority EU language as an adult and am now completely fluent. Living where they speak it helps. I have met a few native English speakers who can't learn or can't be bothered to learn the language. "I'll get by with English" is their attitude. The locals have heard so often that they're good at English that they believe it. They're probably better at it than your average Greek, I suppose. Anyway, l don't really think English speakers are blessed with inferior language learning but we are blessed to have English as our mother tongue.

I've worked in 5 countries and learned enough to get by but never fluent because they all spoke English. There is nothing to be ashamed of only speaking English. It means we don't waste 20% of our schooling learning a language and learn more valuable things. Never be ashamed of English as a first language. It is spoke everywhere because we are best.
