I feel as though you should have mentioned the use of a decent APC as a tfr for heavier road film. Surfex or Greenstar at 10:1 through the pump sprayer works great. Just a light covering around the lower half of the car bites through that nasty brown layer you get from longer commutes. By using a durable QD as your drying aid it works as a great sacrificial layer from your waxes or sealants against the APC. Love the content as always man.
I was always led to believe (that means I picked it up from an obscure source that I now take as gospel) that warm water in the wash water dissolved the road salt and enabled it to leach deeper into the body work. In other words it was an absolute no no. A bit of guidance would be greatly appreciated. Also my shiny new Merc has been "Gardex-ed" and just to amuse you they gave me a chenille wash mitt as part of the detailing package they supply to new owners. I spent 30 minutes picking blue fluff off the badges and detail work...... They never told me that would happen. Great video btw
Top tip you may already know . Ignition on, ignition off then hold the wiper stalk up the front wipers will park in the upright position so you can tilt them up and away from the screen. Keep up the good work and thank for a great channel.
Gave mine a good wash this morning and was out in it for most of the day, stayed dry too. Do like having a spotless car especially this time of year when everyone else’s tend to be filthy.

You say dodgy production but I think that's what brings people back to your videos, not only is it great advice there's no 🐮💩 it's just good honest straight to the point advice.
Using the foam as part of the actual contact wash stage just makes much more sense. There seems to be a thing of you can either use foam at the beginning, or ahead of the wash. Personally I use it once to dwell and then rinse to get rid of the bulk, and foam again for the wash - adds lube and just makes it easier. For the extra ease of cleaning I can live with the wasted product
Cleaned my car for the first time in over a month last weekend... MAN, I am NOT leaving it that long again! Prewash, Snow Foams etc didnt seem to touch it. All done now, I think next time will be the weekend they launch the TW stuff... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Forensic Detailing Channel. I suffer from poor circulation in my fingers so, in addition to warm water. I wear a pair of neoprene gloves (buy the next size up to normal gloves). They work for me. As I have mentioned previously, on proper cold days I resort to waterless. I know that some will call for me to be burned at the stake, but it is a great way for many of us to clean our cars in the winter.
I'm so glad you left that quick summary on the meguiars wheel cleaner. Amazing product 100%, but I couldn't justify the price tag. I got approximately 5 cleans out of it and paid £16 for the bottle, at over £3 a clean before I've even started on the rest of the car, it was a bit too much to justify. I'm now trying the wonder wheels alloy cleaner, pour that in a spray pressure bottle and off you go, using next to no product in comparison too👍🏼

Thanks Jon! I suppose to say "Winter" in the UK is not what I can class as winter in Finland so some tips I use when considering to brave the weather (average -10 to -20 deg C) and where touching metal with water freezes on contact....no chance to use a snow foam lance ;) Ok 1. Warm or hot water and what I found was ONR to be splendid. Do 1 panel at a time. Dilute all products with hot water. Funny one here but put all towels inside your jacket so the body heat keeps them warm and any water on them does not freeze up as this will just scratch the paint as you use them again. Alternatively put the towels inside the car with the heater on but it's a pain to be in and out doing that. Do the door jams and dry extremely well, otherwise you will not get into your car in the morning...Frozen solid. Remember to dry the fuel cap as well. Its freezes solid and if you are low on fuel, your buggered. Apply whatever sealant your have to protect the paint directly to your cloth first of all, not the panel. It will freeze on the car panel and you are left with a blob of sealant! Finally oil the door locks. If your central locking does not work, you might find your lock is frozen inside the barrel but oil helps keep it from freezing. Yep Winter in the dark North is not pretty but it does not mean you car cant stay clean! Regards from Helsinki!

On the hoover/vacuum thing though, and call me a geek if you like lol, but while its incorrect to say "grab the hoover" if you have a Dyson, it's perfectly acceptable to say you're going to "hoover out the car" even if you're using a Dyson, as hoover is also a verb lol

Hello Jon, Some great tips there. 👍 I live in Buxton in the Peak District, so winter starts early here. They have been chucking salt on the roads since early October and we can still be getting wintery conditions well into April. The look on my neighbours faces when I am washing the car when it is snowing. Lol. 😁
As much as like to clean my own car. During cold weather I use the soft cloth drive thru car wash and if it not to cold outside I will use apply some Turtle Wax Seal n Shine. I just do it about one a week. I will do a light polish in the Spring to get paint as corrected as I can.
Did a very deep cleanse on both our cars 2 weeks ago and finished off with Geyon Wet Coat. My method is to spray over the wet car. Gently rub it all over the car with a microfibre using just the weight of the cloth to evenly spread product. Takes less than 5mins to wizz over the outside like this. Then jetwash off. 2 Weeks later both cars are still really clean, the dirt just does not stick. So very good as a winter protectant.
Even though it was a balmy 48°F, almost 10°C over your side of the pond. It was pretty cool for detailing so I don't envy you or any one living north of Florida.
Surprised not to see the Garage Therapy for the wheels. Got my full winter prep vid coming Friday on the Ranger and first time using the GT wheels shampoo. Very impressive.
all I use is surfex mainly. sometimes ill bust out an FR. I wont use /decon as a regular wash its just too strong, its a once or twice a year product only. I would use it if I was preping the wheels though for sure. GT have a cool wheel cleaner product though, the blue product.

No pain after ceramic coating + good solvant. All salt and stuff is gone after solvant+bh-autofoam layer prewash. I just love ceramic coatings when you have car which is used in winter.. :) So many winters wasted with waxes and frustration..
They have hoses for the dyson. Just ordered one from Amazon for like $20. SHould be able to attach all detailing accessories to it as well, making it very effective for quick cleanings. Will report back on if it's good or not. Otherwise, the small carpet cleaner tool that comes with the dyson is the BEST for floor matts
yer handy isnt it scott. but cant help feels its really lacking in grunt and runs out of power so quickly.. imagine if lie flex did one with their 18 volt batteries.
@@ForensicDetailing definitely no replacement for a proper shop vac. Longevity is a definitely an issue when the power is bumped up. But for quick cleanings, itll be a big time saver.
Hey Jon I just found a noodle mit in Aldis last week and it is actually a glove with 4 fingers and a thumb, quality looks OK but the way it fits is amazing. I bought 2 and actually might wear them as gloves aswell lol, keep your eyes out for them see what you think
With a white car, I'm lucky if I get 5 minutes if driving in the winter without the car being covered in grit. Spent ages on it last week and froze my clangers off in the process. Wheel arches were bloody filthy after a quick drive 😂

A real pleasure to watch you every time, and very valuable tests to help me choose products. Now please I have 2 questions or you: - I see you store all your products in your garage, aren't you afraid that with temperatures below 0degc it might cause issues with some of them? - When using a good sealant which helps cleaning the car, what about doing a contact less wash just using a foam canon and a rinse? It might not be perfect but at lease no chance to introduce any swirl mark so a good compromise? And OMG you are a great singer! I realized this a while ago when I tried to pickup the song in your generic using Shazam and it would not work... It was you on the guitar!
hi ya i get no issues with freezing products Laurent. contactless wash never removals all the dirt. aim of cleaning the car is to remove the dirt really. if you dont remove the dirt you also cant dry the car without scratching the paint really (blowing aside). you need contact to get the finer stuck on portion of the road film off, or just other stuck on dirt etc... thanks for the kind words appreciate it.

Ive not mixed surfex no. Just find AF powerfull enough to cope witth virtually anything... lot of the scandanvian guys use surfex for road film removal though

What pressure washer gun are you using? I’m fed up on having to use my Karcher with the extended piece on just to get the pressure as I clean the car in the drive between two houses, and these new builds don’t give you the most of room so I’m always bashing my knuckles on the brick 😭 so need the shorter gun but the pressure of the longer set up. I just use washing up gloves with a nice fluffy lining. They keep my hands warm and dry and protect against harsh chemicals.

4:57 Remove the red tag from your washing mit. Will only leave scratches on your car when you're dragging it across. Top tip :)

Cleaned two cars this morning and had frost on the roof 😂 been using valet pro snow foam, just doesn’t feel up to the job.. will give BH a go...

There are two possible answers to this question. Some of our british banknotes used to be printed in a village called Quidhampton in Wiltshire. The other answer is that it is derived from the latin phrase "Quid pro quo" & it goes back a few hundred years.

ive stopped using the hand gun pressure washer gun, i always get soaking wet by them time im done, in the winter i certainly would avoid using it

Ive not mixed surfex no. Just find AF powerfull enough to cope witth virtually anything... lot of the scandanvian guys use surfex for road film removal though

Jon, not sure if you have tried the Halfords five finger wheel glove, it's great to get behind your alloy wheel spokes, at 4 quid it's a bargain.

What pressure washer gun are you using? I’m fed up on having to use my Karcher with the extended piece on just to get the pressure as I clean the car in the drive between two houses, and these new builds don’t give you the most of room so I’m always bashing my knuckles on the brick 😭 so need the shorter gun but the pressure of the longer set up. Thanks

autofoam about third AF to water in the lance. upto 50:50 for insane road film. Polar wash 50:50 in the lance

would be interesting if you could tint a coating and apply it to a light color panel and do a test on how quick it wears away.
not sure if dye would work, or a charcoal or graphite additive.
you can do it but to get it visable the amount of product you need is really altering the coating formulation.
Track Tyres - have you tried Yokohama AD08R's? I now run these on my Ford Puma track car and have been pleased with their all-round performance and good value.

'Chanel' (sic) noodle mitts are great, but the weight of water pulls them off your wrist. I use mine as a pad. Why don't 'they' make noodle pads - i.e. not sponges with the silly mesh bit, but pads? I notice that yours has a big label on it! Use your considerable influence Jon? And maybe your mates at Pro Detailer?
they do make noodle pads Mel. kent car care sell them.. I think andy ay clean your ride sells them as well.
