    Beautiful buildings. Very interesting bird houses at the mall and yes that fountain and its sound is so relaxing. Creative flying projects participated. Love all your fountain pens in this trip. Thank you for your time and share this nice moments. 🎉

      Glad you enjoyed! I think if I lived in Fargo I might go to the mall just to read by the fountain, especially in the winter!

    Awesome trip! Nice pens and ink. I too surprise myself at what pens i end up using... they are not always my 'favorites'.
    Thank you for expanding the horizons of your students!!! 6 hr drive... grueling! But what you are giving your students... so worth it!

      I agree! I'm not sure what thought process went into picking these for the trip, but these are what I found packed with me!

    Nice. Your students are lucky to have you. Every time I see Black Swans in English Roses It still calls for Blackbirds in Dakota Cornfields.

      I hope I'm doing more good than harm!
      There are so many possibilities with that ink! I like the idea of ripe corn stalks with black shading. But there are so many possibilities from corn in the spring to corn kernels to corn cobs!

      @@WaskiSquirrel yes! And then there is the addition of Redwing or yellow headed blackbirds!

    This must have been an amazing experience for your students. As I'm a bit of an aviation nut, I particularly enjoyed the flight at the end. I follow J&H Aerospace, who are a small company involved with free flight and the Olympiads, and Flite Test, who have a cool range of STEM kits and lesson ideas.

    • @WaskiSquirrel

      The reason I keep doing Science Olympiad is to give them that chance to see this world. Being responsible for 16 teenagers is not my idea of fun, and the reason why there's not more video.
      The flight events are some of my favorites to watch. This one, with the rubber-band powered airplanes is just cool.

    Enjoyed seeing the experiments especially the tower collapse and the model aircraft. The journey lasting 6 hours was a bit of an endurance test but a great experience for the students. Good to see your choice of pens this time. Whenever people talk of travelling with pens I expect to see pocket pens. This video proves you can really travel with any pen. I was glad you were brave enough to take some expensive pens on your trip. I liked your four pen case and notebook as well.

      Glad you enjoyed it! It's a long way across North Dakota, and a full hour of the trip is just getting to the interstate highway that crosses the state! My little town is definitely out of the way...
      Yes, I enjoy traveling with nice pens. The main concession I make to using pocket pens is when I'm out and about while wearing shorts or a shirt without a pocket. I'd rather lose a cheap pocket pen on a hike than something nice. The nicer pens stay in my luggage!

    I'm liking this format, with a short story between each pen. I've been your way only once; it's nice to see what it's like outside of the national parks.

    • @WaskiSquirrel
      @WaskiSquirrel  Před měsícem

      The national parks are beautiful, but there is a lot to this state. This time of the year is not flattering, but the drive is quite nice when crops are in bloom and when they're ready for harvest. And the scenery in North Dakota is more diverse than people expect.

    I love it that you used the venerable Sheaffer Legacy and that the Duofold was worth it. I had to send my Parker Sonnet to a nib meister as it hard started and skipped a lot.

    • @WaskiSquirrel
      @WaskiSquirrel  Před měsícem

      I've had good luck with my Parker pens. Sorry to hear it was not the same for you. I hope you're enjoying it more now that the nibmeister has worked on it.
      And I had to use that Sheaffer! I'm lucky I found that pen.

    Great Pens in use, my wife and I both loved it. NDSU, beautiful campus and so many different buildings. Next time you are in Fargo, show us some more of the campus. Looking forward to finding out how your school made out, but as you say that the students had the chance to experience the city and the University is what is matters. Anything you can tell us about those cool indoor model planes that were at the end? Thanks for this Pens in Use On Tour.

    • @WaskiSquirrel
      @WaskiSquirrel  Před měsícem

      I hope to make a Fargo trip this summer, so I'll make sure to include NDSU!
      The planes are made of balsa wood with mylar wings. They are powered by rubber bands. The idea is to fly the longest, so they need to be designed to fly in a circular path.

    Considering the infrastructure disasters that have recently occurred, it's best that the old bridge comes down, unless it could be repurposed as a wslking/biking trail. That's quite an attractive mall. A number of malls; in my area; have closed or are struggling and no longer seem like safe places to go. I throughly enjoyed going along on your road trip, and seeing your traveling pens. Science was always my best subject.

    • @WaskiSquirrel
      @WaskiSquirrel  Před měsícem +1

      A walking/biking trail would be interesting, especially since the Bismarck side of the river has a park it could be tied to. The other end of the bridge doesn't have much, though.
      Yes, Fargo has a nice mall. I typically avoid malls, but it is a rare exception. When I go to Fargo, I make a point of visiting it!

    There might have been some good pen shops in the mall with sale priced ink or paper?

    That paper isn't fountain pen friendly, it can easily seen even on video. Maybe it will work better with pencils for sketches since it is clear without lines.

    Certainly beautiful, elegant old buildings should be maintained and new ugliness avoided.
