      Suhr did the Guthrie govan Rasmus. I loved mine, still find them on eBay now and then.

      You could easily reach 90% of the potential of this instrument by modding a stock San Dimas, after all, this guitar is just a San Dimas with roasted not-too-fancy woods, side mounted jack, old style two pole floyd with rounded bridge pieces, locking tuners, heel carve, custom pickups, custom switching, coil split. Most of the cost of the guitar is in the time consuming stuff like careful handling of the neck while fretting it with stainless steel frets instead of nickel and wiring the coil split tones for outer and inner coil settings the way GG uses them.

    I absolutely LOVE the numbered tele style knobs with the inlay reference dots on the body - beats the heck out of using the usual set screw as a guide to where I am on the volume and tone knobs!!

    >Cost
    I sold 3 guitars, including a 96 Custom Shop Strat so that I could have a Basswood version. I was tired of crushing on them online. Had to have one!
    I learned that, when you pay that much, it's actually worth it. It's the most stunning guitar I've every played on all facets.
    >Appearance
    Personally, I love the way it looks. It can be Metal, it can be Jazz, it can be Fusion/Jazz.
    It really can lend itself to anything.
    Bought mine via Music Zoo, and I have to recommend them: they treated me like an actual human.

      Don Starnes Definitely a guitar I wouldn’t mind paying full pop for. They are amazing!

    • @GamezPlayerX
      @GamezPlayerX Před 6 lety +6

      You know that the guitar is not worth a € 3.300 / $ 3.900 quality wise, if you compare it to other guitars?
      Guthrie's name alone puts up like € / $ 1.000 on that price.
      Even though it's still a fantastic guitar, and not unimportant, one of the best looking guitars imo. But it's not like you 100% pay for the quality, you pay a lot for just the marketing with these signature models (this goes for any signature guitar though). But if you're a fan of Guthrie, love the looks of the guitar and have the money, this guitar is still worth it ofcourse.

    • @DBStarr7
      @DBStarr7 Před 6 lety +3

      Honestly, I would argue that it is worth that.
      Everything on this guitar is of such a level of quality that it's quite stunning, and I'm comparing against my two CS Fenders (one of which went away for this one).
      The woodwork, the frets, etc, etc. I could go on for a couple of hours.
      Just to sit and hold it, feel the quality is nearly sufficient to the price.
      Also, if one uses Music Zoo, they have the 2017 models for $2,999.00.

    • @GamezPlayerX
      @GamezPlayerX Před 6 lety +3

      Yeah, it's obviously still a quality guitar. And one with great looks as well. And lets be honest, a good looking guitar wants you to pick it up and play, which also makes certain guitars "worth it" over others.

    I bought one of these last year (flame maple top version). Although it is a little on the pricey side, it is a tremendous guitar. Plays so effortlessly and covers pretty much any musical style. When I gig, it is the ONLY guitar I use. I bring a backup, but that guitar usually remains untouched.

    I think it would be very helpful in these reviews (which are excellent) to indicate which amplifier/plugin the guitar is playing through to get a slightly better impression of the tonal characteristics of the instrument.

    Hm, so a vintage brit style amp, with alnico pups, meet with basswood and maple (caramelized) would produce this kinda sound somehow... be it with guthrie or demo here... other variable would be picking power and left hand fingering I suppose...

      Guitars like the Harley Benton fusion and the Ibanez AZ come close for under $1k, but the GG guitars have so much detail that comes from higher build costs.
