      @Perfectly Twisted Jewelry I would suggest the Silhouette Cameo. The software is incredibly better than Cricut. I started with the first Cricut and third-party software so I could make my own designs. The Cricut didn't have software until many years later. But they sued 3 companies that produced the software Cricut users could use. They won, and there was a mass exit of users from Cricut who they felt betrayed them. So, the Personal Cricut (the first machine) only had a 6" width, and I needed a 12". I managed to get my hands on the last Cricut compatible with my software (Sure Cuts A Lot by Craftedge). I never used it because I fell in love with the Cameo. Circumstances that rid me of my dedicated crafts space, made me stop cutting. I was so sad.
      And then Cricut came up with the little Joy cutter. Perfect and could cut up to 4.25" width. That's all I would need. But it operated on Design Space. There was a sharp "reverse" learning curve as all the features in Silhouette software were missing. So, I would design in Silhouette, save in an svg format and upload into Design Space and cut out with the little mighty Joy that sits on the corner of any table. I even cut on my lap.
      But Cricut must have come to realize that its users wanted to have what Silhouette users were saying they always had in their software. Although Silhouette software is still more advanced, Cricut is trying its best to catch up. BUT, if someone asked me, I would recommend Silhouette machines.
      You are an artist and would love the ability to change a font or any shape. It doesn't have a card maker. But as a papercrafter, I make my own. So, that's the long story of why I would recommend the Silhouette. ❤️❤️❤️

    How did you learn to wire wrap? You make it look easy. I have a hard time. How long have you been doing this? Any advice? Please and thank you. Do you make it up as you go along, or do you have clear idea ahead of time?

      Thanks, Madeleine, I learned from a good teacher just like you ;) I have been wire wrapping and designing jewelry for over 15 years. It looks easy and for the most part, it can be with practice like everything else. Most of the time I have an idea in my mind... most of the time I can see it and build it while I go. Sometimes I plan for them. Thanks for watching!

    Susan, thank you so much for another great tutorial. I ordered some candy cat eyes but couldn’t wait for them to come so made a pendant with a 12mm coin bead and then another one with a 10mm mood stone glass cab! I’m wondering….do you have many sales of the bare copper? I love it but my daughter and sisters “aren’t fans of the copper”. I’m going to try my first craft fair in May and wondering what metal to focus on. Thanks so much for any advice you’re willing to share.❤

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Před rokem

      Hi Pam! Thanks for this lovely comment and whooohooo! I'm super happy to hear you got into your beads before your candy cats arrived, they will both be so much fun and beautiful in this design! Regarding your metals...
      If you want to use bare copper, there are two ways... you can purchase the anti-tarnish copper wires (they are already coated to stay the natural copper color)... or you can use BARE or RAW copper wires which have no coating... but require you to do something to finish them, else they do turn dark. The bare wires are best if you want to patina your metal (add an antique color...etc). But if you think that you want to make a bunch of these in natural copper, you can save your time by purchase the already coated Anti-tarnish copper wires. You can find a nice small spool selection at FireMountainGems ... www.firemountaingems.com/shop/wire_wrapping_wire?wt.ac=wirewrappingwire_cat
      I think Copper jewelry is gorgeous and can be as valuable to you as precious metal jewelry... certainly there is a price difference but I think copper can be just as lovely and loved... but it takes a finishing process too, I think, for it to be seen. Most people don't care for copper because the myth is that 'it turns green'... and it does if left as I described above, uncoated. I have sold copper jewelry for between $80 and $160... depending on the stones and the wrap, sometimes more and also sometimes much less. I have sent copper tree of life designs to charity auctions and they went for over $300... so... " art is in the eye of the beholder and in the heart of the person who loves it "
      I think, It is your application and process with the metal along with your design and stones that can determine if Copper is a precious metal or not. I hope your sisters and daughter maybe take another look at the copper once you work your magic into it ;) I hope this helps you and good luck with your fair! Put some on cute fairy ribbon and some simple black 'leather' ropes, I hope they do well for you!!

      and ps... if it's a craft fair, then try also to keep within the audience (the buyer) who might attend. If you are vending at a higher-end fair and selling $20 copper pieces, you might miss out on pricing them at $80... and also the other way... if you are at a craft fair and the average price point is in the $20s and $40s, then make all your wonderful sales there! I have jewelry pieces that range from.... I can give them away, I can sell them for the $20s, I can sell them for the $80s... it's always a good idea to have a nice handful of prices that assure all buyers have the chance to afford one ore more of your beautiful creations. And have fun!

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for your comment, you probably could do this up to about 15mm round but as you go up in size of stone, I probably would also go up in wire gauge and use 18g.

  • @Pamelakaygorman
    @Pamelakaygorman Před rokem

    Would this design work for larger stones using a larger gauge wire?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Před rokem

      Hi Pamela, for a larger one... depends on how much larger, maybe up to 15 or 18mm on this size wire, yes to increase the wire size if your stone is larger... and you might also check out Quinn... this is a similar frame and stone capture for much larger stones... czcams.com/video/ssY0HnpnudQ/video.html Have fun! Let me know if you need more help.

    Let me tell you about my adventures trying to follow along. I gathered everything I needed. Had to do silver plated. Then I grabbed the only round small thing I had, a 1" clear glass cabachon I used to use in settings. Then I found a 1" mandrel which turned out to be the mouthpiece of an asthma inhaler. Couldn't make a circle anyway. Kept right on, with encouragement from you. Then it happened, the cabachon dropped. I ran in the kitchen, got another one, used some UV resin to color it, put it under the UV lamp and ran back to the BR to continue. The video kept on without me cuz I forgot to turn it off. I took a deep breath, found my place and went to work. I had to stop and pray. Made it quick, and said, "Jesus, take the wheel and while you're at it, help me with the wires cuz I couldn't tell which side the half round was flat. As I was sure it twisted...maybe not, I tried to figure it out, couldn't made my tap and kept on. Then, have mercy, new cabachon fell😮. I knew I should have kept it in my mouth.
    By the time I made the bail, I told Satan, "Not now." Funny how religious you get when in great need. But now was the test. Would the cab stay in? For a few second it did. Slipped out. I pushed that slippery sucker right back in and I remembered something you did in another video. So, that diamond in the back grew some facets. And I heard you say 28g, suring up, I relaxed and thought, you can't do the elegance, but you can swirl and use the 28 guage which has become my best friend.
    So, now, I'm almost finished with my First caged stone. It's trying to get alway. But later on today, cuz now it's 5:15am and I haven't slept, I am going to finish it the best I can. Learned alot. Conrinue to be patient, practice, make lemonade out of lemons, learn and do the best you can. I'm glad I'm a fighter and believe no wire is going to ever kill me😂, am persistent. I am determined to learn wire wrapping thru
    Perfectly Twisted Jewelry who I have a membership now after starting a playlist with only Susan's videos. And let me end with a word of caution. Never be tired and start one of her videos. That girl has the softest, sweet encouraging voice I have ever hear. It will make you drift off to sleep just listening, with your project right in your hands.❤❤❤❤❤❤

      Good morning again, Rosetta! I'm not sure what happened to my comment, but I left one and now it's gone. Anyway, what an adventure you had!! I love all your details and had a fun time reading... you're a natural writer and storyteller! I love your determination, your enthusiasm, and your persistence! I also love how you fell in love with 28 gauge wire, yes, it's an awesome wire and useful for many things including weaving. It's a little tricky the first time or two you create the frame but it is a secure one for small, thin stones. There are several tutorials for smaller stones, and medium size stones too. 4am wire wrapping! wow! Remember to get sleep in between and take care of yourself too. I will try to speak up now that I know you wrap in the wee hours! :D Many hugs!

      Hi Laura, in this design, I am using 20g round wire at 13 inches and the cab is 12 or 13mm round... if your bale is slightly longer or the inside measure is more than 3mm, you might end up short due to that. Try starting with an extra couple of inches. My guess is that if all things are the same, the chances are its your bale that is larger. Let me know it goes. 🙏🌷
