Well let me tell you the first time I heard a Hammond in a church setting I thought I would puke! I guess I was spoiled by having been raised in a church with a real Skinner pipe organ.Which after several years of piano study I decided to jump to the organ bench. My home church & those pipes were wonderful ! Fast track to Virgil Fox's 'Black Beauty' was a great let down. I thought the sound for the most part was dreadful. Not completely bad though in some stops. Now this M&O organ with sampling technology is just incredible ! I have heard Douglas Marshall play enough of these instruments on CZcams to know that at last the electronic organ has come of age! What a fantastic sound ! I look forward to someday hopping on the bench and giving one of these organs a real workout first hand.

In fact, Hammonds were originally invented for churches who couldn't afford a pipe organ.

1:16 why is “Holy Holy Holy” used in so many videos specifically about organs? One of the best hymns, but perhaps pick another classic old hymn cause HHH is used constantly.

Because it is so widely known across all major denominations -probably more so than any other hymn. You aren't going to impress the Episcopalians with "Do Lord" - right?

It's insane. What a waste. A real pipe organ will pay for itself. Over a time of 100 years, a pile organ will need only minor work from time to time. A digital organ will have to be replaced At least 5 or 6 or even 7 times in a 100 years. That's money down the drain. The pipe organ will last for centuries

@@Willorga1708bux no. i have my digital organ at home, for practice.
what is the name of the instrument? "PIPE organ". so it should have pipes, unless a lack of space or money make the real one unaffordable. this is the only reason to chose the fake thing.
tell me about professional pianists that having money and space for a grand coda still prefer a clavinova. would be crazy, isn't it?
why this should change to normal when talking about the organ?
let's talk about longevity. a digital organ will be over in 30 years. technology will be more advanced, will be difficult to find spare parts.
now let's talk about real mechanical organ. almost immortal with proper maintenance. in italy we have some organs dated back 1550 still working. do you really think that a digital one will be ever worth of them?
and more: how can you be an organ lover if you don't accept that the real thing will always be better than a digital replica?
