    • @braetonwilson4296
      @braetonwilson4296 Před 7 měsíci +3

      Honda's too greedy to sell the Fit again. Honda knows they would have to sell the Fit for less than the Civic, which means a thin profit margin for Honda. Honda wants higher price and fatter profit margin, hence the HR-V

      @@capnron65 You are entitled to your opinion. I rented several 2021-22 Honda HR-Vs from Budget and Dollar and hated it every time. The HR-V drove horribly and wasn't great on gas. I dreaded getting it and always would ask the rental companies for something else if they had an alternative. The 2011 Fit I had was a much better car to drive than an HR-V. Also it was way more versatile with the magic seats.

    Hope I'm wrong but the Ridgeline may not get redesigned until Honda has developed an appropriate hybrid powertrain for their truck platform which could take more than a few calendar years. Almost every midsized truck is going to offer a hybrid option in the next year or two so it wouldn't make sense for Honda to not stay competitive in a segment that they are selling quite well in.

    What I still can't understand is why cars today are so HUGE! "Safety and regulations" are an excuse, _ya-da-ya-da-ya-da._ They want cars filled with software. When your car breaks, whoops, it’s time to buy a new one. Compact cars are now full-sized monstrosities. It's obscene.

    • @SIIKAP1
      @SIIKAP1 Před 7 měsíci +9

      They are bigger….but compacts are not full size cars. Cars are big because that’s what the market demands, plus safer to better withstand crashes from actually large cars on the road (SUVs, trucks, EVs).
      People need passenger and cargo space. Why would they buy a tiny civic that has a cramped interior and is uncomfortable for passengers? Yeah, smaller cars look great, but it’s just not very feasible anymore.

    • @JHONNYR98
      @JHONNYR98 Před 7 měsíci +2

      The Civic and Integra now have to compete with compact crossovers. It used to be that most people who were single or living with just one other person would buy a 2 door car. Now they buy a crossover. The only way to stop this is buy more 2 doors. It's the consumer that determines the market not exactly the manufacturers

    • @davidhunternyc1
      @davidhunternyc1 Před 7 měsíci +3

      @@JHONNYR98 The consumer has no choice. For example, Mini cancelled their Rocketman. Suzuki didn't import the Jimny. Toyota gives us the GR Corolla, not the GR Yaris. Ford stopped selling the Escort. Consumers don't have a choice but to buy 4 door monstrosities. This is about greed. The bigger and more complicated the car, the more auto manufacturers can charge. Bring back real compact cars.

    I find myself concerned with my 6-speed transmission in my Corolla, but the size is a concern for the future as well. I don't have kids yet, but I would imagine a front facing carseat would be difficult to squeeze in back there. The Civic is very enticing though. I've thought that if I had to replace it, I'd get a 6-speed Civic. But honestly, the hybrid Civic hatchback sounds amazing too. Sure, it wouldn't be as fun, but the additional space and savings would be a huge advantage.

    In the hypothetical world in which the Prologue & ZDX are hits, do we think the production agreement gets extended on a year by year basis? Or survive past when a redesign/refresh is needed?
    The Lyriq days supply has been very low all year (only 48 in October and between 45-50 most of the year), well below the industry average (71 days per cox, all vehicles not just EV). Also below Cadillacs' own full lineup days supply, which has been above average. We'll be seeing the Prologue and Blazer EV come online and priced at or near the average new vehicle sale price ($47,456 per cox), before any tax credits.
    It won't be a smash hit like a CR-V but unless the marketing team buries those products it seems like they'll be able to sell all the ones they do make.

    I am so disappointed by these manufacturers moving towards total electric vehicles. I do NOT want one as my primary car. I'm open to hybrids but I will resist moving toward EVs as long as I possibly can. I am not against carmakers building EVs as long as they don't do it to the exclusion of ICE/hybrid vehicles. I've been an avid, loyal Honda/Acura customer since 1985. Very disappointed with their newer stuff. I have a '21 Accord Touring 2.0T that I love. The new Accord is such a let down. Great gas mileage but no power. The TLX 2.0T makes too many compromises. They are slower than my Accord because of their extreme weight and their backseat room is very tight. And there are features you simply can't get on the TLX that are available on the "lesser" Accord. (Heated rear seats). No 4 cylinder TLX offers a HUD. The Type S TLX gets terrible gas mileage. How can the much faster and more powerful BMW M340i get well over 30mpg on the highway and the TLX Type S that is considerably slower barely manage 25mpg? I just want a sleek looking, reliable, reasonably fast, roomy sedan that is fairly economical to operate for around $45k. The Accord Touring 2.0T checks a lot of those boxes for under $40k, which is why I own one. Don't know of anything else in its class currently. Don't want a Korean make. Maybe the rumored Mazda 6 will come out and fill the void left by the death of the Accord 2.0T. Fingers crossed.

    I can't believe now i went with the lexus crowd.
    I can see why, the designs and etc are not what I was looking for.
    I'm getting sick and tired of regulations Galore because cars are starting to look too alike.
    Acura used to push boundaries while delivering a reliable vehicle.
    Just look at the old and even the new nsx.
    New vehicles just are getting more and more boring.
    I am praying they change all the Ev only laws.
    It's terrible.
    I want to drive what I want to drive I don't need a politician or tree hugger telling me.
    Most of the environmental stuff is totally miss guided.
    For example the EV's are no where as green friendly as they think.

    Honestly none of these EV's excite me. And i was first to champion BEVs w/ the Leaf and Focus EV. I just don't see them as the saviors we were promised. And now its being forced on us. Im against anything that cuts consumers options. Absolutely against forcing products on consumers.

    14:30 They could change the name from TLX to Vigor which would be in line IF you were to have a new sedan called the Legend on the horizon. I had a Vigor... it was a great car! Acura's J-30 of the day (id prefer the J over the Vig). Could you imagine if Inifniti was actually a car company putting out great products like they did in the 90's with a modern J... to bad. The Japanese made it look so easy looking back in the 90s vs today where we have the same across the board with little choice.

    Honda needs to develop something special accross their line. No EV,or more weight and hardware, but instead more substance and emotion. Look how Toyota and Mazda (who has never sway away from driving dynamics) remain on the technology forefront, but adding a great feeling and emotion to their lines. Honda is becoming the early 2000 Toyota, great quality, but foreshadowed by their borring and safe approach.

    I think the redesign of Accord 2024 was intended to expose it to cannibalization by their own Acura Integra or TLX (Type S) or to prevent the reverse. There is almost no incentive for replacing Accord 2013/2014 with the new one.
