The appam you get in Kerala is different from what you had there. In the Kerala appam you don't add any dal it is made just with raw rice and coconut and for fermentation you either add yeast or toddy. It is best tasted with veg or non veg stew or black channa curry or veg kuruma.
Yes in fact here at TN, we even have appam with coconut milk!

Aapam is not made with lentils at all!! It is made with a mixture of raw rice, a ladle full of cooked rice or a katori of soaked poha & yeast when the fermented batter is mixed the next day. This is the authentic aapam made in Kerala!!

Dombivili is my maternal place and part 1 and part 2 just bring back all those childhood Nostalgia to me as few places from both the videos are my favorite spot too (Amul,My home, Thakur Vada pav, etc). It's been long since I visited Mumbai now but definitely will follow your suggestions on my next visit to try whatever I have missed this long. Misal should always be spicy without any doubt. Eating a non-spicy misal is like just eating flavoured sprouts.
You should even visit to palava city which is in dombivali itself coz u will get alot of content for food there,just a suggestion. Make sure u cover palava next time,excited to see your video on this place too.
