Which dethatcher is better? ?? SunJoe?? WORX?? Lawnmaster?? This video is a rematch that has been requested between the Worx and Sun Joe. But I decided to throw a third contender in the mix to see if there would be a "Cinderalla" upset. In this video I use all three on my lawn side by side and compare the performance outcome of each. I also have other people (other than myself) to weigh in on how easy it was to use the product and how well it performed. I also go to additional homesites to try the 3 products on their lawns. My lawn had been recently dethatched in the spring as had my neighbors. But the final lawn had NEVER been dethatched for 6 years.
None of the products used in this video are sponsored in ANYWAY. I purchased each unit, and borrowed one, and used strictly for a straightforward comparison. I created an even playing field in regards to each machine using the tines only cylinders that come with each machine. (The SunJoe and the Lawnmaster are the machines that have an additional scarifier cylinder option,) I also made certain that each machine had equal space in which to work. Since NONE of these machines are sponsored I used the machines as ANY homeowner might, I did set each at their LOWEST settings that the manufacturers created them to go, to make the comparison as equal AS POSSIBLE. I am VERY AWARE that the SUN JOE states that the tines cylinder should not be used at the lowest setting. But I believe that if a machine can go lower than it's competition, so much the better. I do warn you that when you go "outside" the Manufacturers recommendations, that you do (like myself) risk causing harm to the machine or yourself. (NOTE: I have used these machines at all the lowest settings and have experienced NO adverse damage to the machines.) I do suggest mowing your grass to the lowest height that you feel comfortable with. Longer grass can tend to bog down the machines. I would suggest no taller than 2 inches in Height of Cut (HOC). Always read your instructions and follow them. I am a rebel and would hold NO COMPANY liable if I CHOSE to "DO IT MY WAY".
I and the others in the video have been in need of cleaning up debris in our lawns, much like the average homeowners and wanted to see which could produce the best results. I wish you the best of luck in your experience with ANY of these machines. ALL of them work and do the job at certain degree of performance. Your choice should be based on which you feel will work best for you.

I've appreciated all of your videos on these machines over the last couple of years and that you have sought out so many peoples feedback. Also, as a dad, I had to smile at you and your daughter...

Thanks for the review. I have put off de-thatching my yard for 5 years because I usually go to a rental place and go through that routine. This has changed my mind on that process. Definitely getting the SunJoe and making life easier with a nicer looking yard.

Good job, Ryan. I've been using my Sunjoe for a few years and sharing it with my neighbors. I tell them to use it until it dies and I will get a new one when it does.

I bought a SunJoe AJ798E last year after watching your reviews. Thing has been awesome. Dethatched in the spring, then used the scarifier in the fall for overseeding, excellent results.

I have just started learning about dethatching, currently working the front lawn by hand... considering one of these fine tools though.

I came up on a crazy package deal last fall which had a landzie peatmoss spreader, sunjoe dethatcher and a pull behind dethatcher for a riding lawnmower all for 125.00. It was too late to use the sunjoe so I'm definitely looking forward to using it this year.

I so wish I had found these videos b4 I bought a Work a few months ago, sadly couldn’t use it during summer! I didn’t know that, so I patiently waited for fall, and used it for the 1st time today. I mowed yesterday, so lawn was low, I had to push soooo hard and basically wiggle it side to side to help it move. I have had this lawn in for 4 years now and have not thatched it before but have had it aerated twice. I really thought it would be a tad easier than what it was! I’m exhausted only after doing a 1/4 of my back lawn, and yes you are correct, the catcher bag is such a joke lol! 🤪. I literally had to put my stomach/chest into moving it, is my lawn maybe too tall still? It definitely pulled oodles of thatch up, so happy with that, but the amount of effort is extreme, even after seeing the Worx came in 2nd. Really enjoyed your videos, very informative, just wish I saw this first. On a side note, So Sorry for your loss of a loved one, many prayers out to your family 🙏.

You mentioned that they all had crappy bags, I'm wondering if the one in from the lawnmaster, with the cloth cut so it's leaving the debris behind, would help just for having the back discharge door open so it isn't in its own way.
