    I just received my Sun Joe dethatcher/scarifier. Took it out for a few test strips immediately and I have to say
 I am super impressed. Big thanks to you for the video, it helped with my decision. I was just about to go online and schedule a rental at my local big box store. Happy that I went online first though, now I have my own I can use any time without all of the rental hassle. The unit, as all of the videos point out, seemed a bit “cheap and flimsy” when I unboxed it and I couldn’t help but think, “how good could this thing be.” My opinion changed immediately as soon as I turned in on and started making my first pass. Kudos to the Sun Joe company for making a great product at a great price.

      You’re welcome! Always glad to help! If you have thatch, the removal of your material in there is going to take you to the next level. With the stress of rain and possible fungus’s up there, this will help minimize the fungal issues and let it dry out inbetween rain storms! Awesome pick up, hands down!

    I’m getting the 15” for next spring. I just threw some Kentucky Blue seed down on some patchy spots and here in Canada it takes a good 3-4 weeks to germinate. I don’t want to dethatch until that seed has taken well. That seed takes forever to get any growth on it but once it does
 it’s my favourite type of grass!

    Things are just starting to green up here in Wisconsin. I used my cordless Sun Joe dethatcher this week for the first time on the highest setting just to use it like a rake. It worked really well. I put some some Scott's Turf Builder with Moss control down yesterday. I could already see the moss starting to turn a little black this morning. I was thinking maybe in a couple weeks I could go over the grass again with the dethatcher on the middle level to hopefully pull out some of the dead moss (depending on how much lawn growth I have at that time.) I'll use the scarifier attachment before I over-seed hopefully towards the end of May.
    We've been getting a late start to spring here. It may be back down to the upper 30s this weekend, but by the next weekend it's supposed to be in the lower 70s.

    • @TheGreenerLawn
      @TheGreenerLawn  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Solid work.. couple talking points, iron helps kill moss and gives you a good green up. Over in England where moss is rampant they scarify, then iron (common way to alleviate moss). Worth the knowledge.
      Your way better served to do a heavy dethatch b4 your overseed, opening little trenches every 3ish inches, isn’t as good as open soil every where for seed to soil contact
. UNLESS
 your lawn is too thick and chocking it’s self out, the real reason to use a scarifier. And in this case, I hope your overseeing in a blend to address an issue.
      Talking and thinking points
 but if you follow your steps I don’t see how I could t have an amazing lawn 💯

    • @t.j.schmidt9877
      @t.j.schmidt9877 Pƙed 2 lety

      OK, thanks. I will keep that in mind. I plan to use the Scott's Thick R Lawn Sun and Shade over the entire lawn. It has the starter fertilizer and a soil improver in it. It has about 12% seed and the entire bag is 48lbs with everything together(a little less than 6lbs of seed.) In the areas that are shaded and thinner, I have a dense shade mix I plan to apply to those spots. I should also have some compost ready to do some top dressing. In addition, I did some pruning in the extra shady areas.

      On their extended warranty. They have a 2 year reg warranty, how much is the warranty? I honestly have never looked. I’ve now bought two machines, and still have no clue oof

    Well we just bought a used AJ801E and it will turn on for about 3 seconds and then it stops. We verified it wasn't the safety switch and after opening the top...we saw nothing burnt or broken. It is a mystery! We did verify with top off that motor and thatcher spins. It's a mystery! Only thing left was a small electronic board inside but I don't know what it does. So buy new. Don't buy used. The only good thing is we got it for $35.
