    Have you had the chance to use the BeatBuddy? Are you looking at getting one?

      I’m looking at buying one for solo acoustic/electric-lite gigs I have that are coming up this spring and summer. I think people are really hungry for “live” entertainment. having been cooped up for the last couple of years and I’ve been watching a CZcams channel called “The solo gigging life”. Very laid-back, but he has touted the benefits of using the TC-helicon player acoustic, along with a beat buddy. To tell you the truth, I’ve been a little chicken to spend the extra 400 bucks on yet another drum machine… But, having watched your video, I think that this may add final touch for my music. So it looks like Sweetwater is gonna make a few more bucks off of me before we’re done.🥹

      @@Theweeze100 That is awesome! If I were doing live solo acts where I wanted the ability for on the spot flexibility, the Beat Buddy would be a part of my rig without question. I feel like once it become second nature, it will add a lot to a live show.

      I’ve used one for several years.
      It takes some time to learn how to use it.
      I like it and play out with it quite a bit.
      It doesn’t speed up and it won’t play to loud or fight with the bass player!

    I love my BeatBuddy. The footswitch and external pedal can be figured in all sorts of ways. You can also buy other drum kits, create your own and load up other rhythms besides the factory ones. I use the BBuddy to send MIDI time signals to my BOSS RC500 looper to keep them in sync. I built a little platform to mount my BBuddy on my iPad stand and have the external pedal on the floor. It makes for quick adjustments and selections. My next project is to send programme changes from my iPad sheet music app. That way I'll have minimal tech overhead on a gig. Because the BBuddy can be 'played' with fills and hits on the fly it never has to be 'sequencer-boring'. The biggest hoot is the Sobriety setting. Check it out.

    Thanks for the informative video! Getting back into playing again and was debating on getting a loop station and adding tracks to it but this looks way more fun! It looks very user friendly and plug and play. Is there any country train style beats on it?

      @ZachWirchak  Před rokem +1

      I only worked with about 6-8 tracks, mostly straightforward 4/4 rock/pop beats. I'm sure there are a lot of country style beats. They say that there are 24 different genres to choose from.

    I’m watching video so if you answer this disregard. The Beat Buddy shipped from UK to me in USA. It has a European type outlet. Can I just plug a 9volt plug that came with my Donner pedal board power supply to it?

    • @ZachWirchak
      @ZachWirchak  Před rokem

      I'd say if the plug fits, and they're both 9v, I'm pretty sure you'd be good. I've used my generic 9v power supply and my pedal board 9v on a ton of different pedals and have never had a problem.

      You create songs in software called Beat Buddy Manager on a computer. Then you export to an SD card that goes into the Beat Buddy. Truth be told, the Beat Buddy Manager software is cumbersome and buggy. It’s workable. But takes perseverance.

    Is there any way to control the velocity live ie expression pedal ?

    • @ZachWirchak
      @ZachWirchak  Před rokem +1

      Are you thinking velocity or volume? If you are thinking velocity on the drum samples, I don't think you can. I haven't tried, but the way the unit is setup, I don't think it would be possible.

    • @QuickSticks8771
      @QuickSticks8771 Před rokem

      @@ZachWirchak I currently use a traditional stomp box to manually kick a four on the floor beat live , having those dynamic highs and lows makes for a much more interesting performance , I just want to do the same but with my foot free to do more looping
      It seems there is no drum machine out there that can do it unless I take a laptop to gigs !

  • @MSM101
    @MSM101 Před rokem +3

    Like the concept of this but can see it's a bit fussy also that screen is very small and would be difficult to see when standing up and playing live in a dingy bar. Somebody convince me I'm wrong!

    • @ZachWirchak
      @ZachWirchak  Před rokem +3

      You bring up good points! But I feel if someone where to spend time with it setting up a live show setlist, I feel it would be come second nature. Kind of like playing lines/chords without looking at the neck of your guitar. The screen is small, I can read it pretty well, but I could see someone with slightly shotty eye sight having a problem.

    • @3top5
      @3top5 Před rokem

      Not really. I use mine all the time in just that setting.

    • @lrowlands53
      @lrowlands53 Před rokem +1

      I made a platform for a mic or music stand - like a waist high pedal board for the BeatBuddy (plus my mixer) and it works perfectly. Having the external pedal on the floor helps a lot too. Also, the font size can be changed, so seeing the screen isn't the problem you might imagine. I was sceptical about buying it, but it has far exceeded my expectations and is an incredibly creative enhancement that makes my performances more interesting and varied. Like any tool, you can overdo it - cue the guy who uses a harmoniser in every song with the same setting. I include it only on about half my numbers, when it makes the song better. Oh, and I just upgraded the firmware to the latest version (second upgrade in about 6 months) so the people at Singular Sound are on the project with continuous development. I've never regretted this purchase. Hope this helps.

    Its nice but I don't want to learn anything new. I own a lot of pedals, but am entertaining the thought, more and more, on seeing what I can get out of my amps, with only a guitar. "It may be a new unfounded sound." Haha
