  • Hey gang! A super ground breaking and informational video for you! LOL Not really, just an outing where I unexpectedly ran into a slick pit that some other fellas had practically made a mess of that I nearly couldn’t have escaped from! It gave me a chance to put the snow chains to use with their first install on the truck, and my first ever “chain up” to get myself unstuck whilst off reading! Quite the glorious little scene at the end as well!

    Its always so much more enjoyable watching someone put chains on. Rather than being the one putting the chains on! Haha!

    Im allways putting the chans over my wheels, no need to drive over them

    You can also zip tie or safety wire the loose ends of the chains, as well.

    I keep my chains in a small tote will 4 holes drilled so they can dry after use and I use the lid to kneel on while installing.

    Love the videos!
    Although I do use chains on my rear. I can't use them on the front of my 2000 land cruiser (285/75/16 Cooper s/t maxx with 2.5 lift) There is not enough room between the upper control arm. I generally just run my air pressure down to about 10psi when driving in mountain snow... Seems to work pretty well.

      Thanks a lot! Before I put the wheel spacers on I had about 1/8” clearance from the spindle on the fronts! But I’ll take a good look before I install on the fronts. Thanks for the reminder! 🙌🏻

    Great video. I have a similar setup on my FJ100. I've usually never carried chains with me and yesterday evening spun out a bit in some heavy snow and then slammed into the side of the mountain and I'm so pissed that I cracked my passenger side light and the fog light in the ARB bumper got knocked out of place along with the plastic trim. I will say though that the ARB bumper saved the truck overall from a lot more damage. After seeing this video along with my experience last night, I am definitely going to begin carrying chains at least for the rear wheels.

    I have a 1996 c2500 suburban 2wd with the g80 locker and 454. With a set of chains on it digs thru the snow, mud and ice. I run 235/85r16 tire M/S highway tire for mileage and quiet highway driving. I stick mainly to forest roads for camping and such but it is surprising how well a set of chains work. I was going to purchase a set of 2 link V-bar chains but I honestly don't think I need them and I try to tread lightly on trails. Great channel and keep up the content.

      Thanks a lot! Sounds like a big bad ass Suburban! What keeps you from getting a 4X4 version?

      @AdventureTEQ I honestly wanted a 4x4 suburban 2500 for a long time and all I could find was a C2500 that wasn't completely beat down. I am gathering parts for a solid axle swap so hopefully in the near future I will be rocking a 4wheel drive. Cheers!!

    Big fan of the channel! Would your maxtrax come in handy by chance while getting unstuck? Asking as yet to try them on an snowy/icy situation. Keep up the great content my friend!

      Thanks a lot! I’ll let ya in on a secret 🤫… I’ve never used my MaxTrax! 😆 Yet! Only had them a couple years. 🤷🏼‍♂️. But yeah, from what all my “expert off roading friends” say, they are indispensable! Sand/snow/mud…

    Those are good tires…..they generally work better when they are not on backwards:)

    • @AdventureTEQ
      @AdventureTEQ  Před 8 měsíci

      😆🤣 Welp, have you ever tried running them this direction?? I recommend it, every other rotation or so. Prolongs their life and no noticeable grip difference. Pro tip. 😉

    este tiene menos nieve que Cancun ... no utiliza guantes , las cadenas se colocan sobre el neumático y después se hace marcha atrás , y después no le pone los pulpos de goma ...

    are the tires installed with wrong rotation?

    • @AdventureTEQ
      @AdventureTEQ  Před 5 měsíci

      Yes. When you’ve had this set this long you try to even out the wear patterns by rotating in every orientation possible!

    Would you be willing to share what brand chains you got?

    • @AdventureTEQ
      @AdventureTEQ  Před rokem

      Sure thing. I got these at Oreilly Parts. Pretty sure they’re these Laclede Chain “HD Mud/Off Road/On Road” types.
