Air Bag Install On 1/2 Ton Truck | Toyota Tundra / Air Lift 5000
zhlédnutí 6KPřed rokem
Hey gang! This is not a “how to” it’s a “how I did it”. I should also make mention that as a guy with just a 1/2 ton full sized truck, a 2018 Tundra, it was kind of only AFTER I installed this system that my education of proper trailer loading began! As I show in the video, my new tilt deck trailer is an absolute beast, and as it turns out it’s WAY overkill for this truck. More on that in anoth...

Hey gang! A super ground breaking and informational video for you! LOL Not really, just an outing where I unexpectedly ran into a slick pit that some other fellas had practically made a mess of that I nearly couldn’t have escaped from! It gave me a chance to put the snow chains to use with their first install on the truck, and my first ever “chain up” to get myself unstuck whilst off reading! Q...

Hey guys! As the title states, this is only a “tear down/disassembly” as far as shown in the thumbnail. We don’t break into the internals, rather pull everything off of the engine to take and deliver to the machine shop on our 1986 Toyota Pickup 4x4.

Here we go on part 3! We woke up to a refreshing and VERY slow paced relaxing morning on the White Rim of the Colorado River. After some short hikes, breakfast and coffee time on the Pomoly T1 Mini wood burning titanium stove, we finally break down camp and make our way across the wilderness and only on the trail. I think we saw 2 other humans this whole day!

Thanks man! One of my motors took a crap after a month! Got the warranty motor back, no instructions, nothing, but the motor and hardware. Anyway, thanks dude, I took it apart easy enough, but the KEY, was cycling the motor to match the screw holes,,, that sucked, and it would have taken me for forever to figure out, still took about 15 minutes. I was installing it with the step down and the door OPEN, with the motor cycled down,, Magic I can't thank you enough!!!! 🤙🤙🤙
Heck yah! Great to hear it. 🙌🏻
Excellent video..the drivers side on our 2019 Jeep did pretty much the same thing. Except the step is stuck in the up position..
Thanks a lot! Mine are an ongoing saga of maintenance, screeching, and general PITA. Not stoked about them.
Very good video, thanks for sharing. Covered lots of detailed information.
Gracias por tu video. Ahora puedo hacerlo yo mismo desde mi casa
radiator have top plastic cover and under ? or this is yellow brass ?
Yes, the OEM Toyota radiator is made of aluminum and a reinforced plastic material. No brass.
Great video, very helpful thank you sir
🙌🏻
Where can I get this exact lift kit?
Cruiser Outfitters in Salt Lake City (Sandy) Utah. Tell them Adventure Teq sent ya!
How did you get the tire jack to stand so stable and not slip off and cause the top plate to upper control arm to smash down 😅
Magic
When u ramble i move on
💔
The spur gear that sticks out the motor assembly is what broke on mine because one day i opened my door and there was pieces of gear on the floor. I’m not sure if I have to replace the whole motor assembly.
Let us know if you get a replacement gear or mechanism. Or have to replace the whole thing.
Mine is stuck inboard. How do I get it out?
I’d call their tech service line and ask them. I’m not sure!
I have 60.000mile 60series Australia still has original plastic from dealer on seats even sparewheel sticker bottom of tailgate
If I can blow it up can I bring you back lol@-)---
It's a easy fix just the engine
Sold🎉
Did you grease your fingers😅
Thank you for the video, you did a good job. I’m going to tackle it when I have time, for now I’ve pulled the fuse and at least feel better that I can actually fix it myself or order the motor and replace that myself as well. Good job posting the videos, I need to do it too so I can “quit” my job but I absolutely hate filming and abhor doing anything on the computer like edit videos a well, but I’ve told myself I must do it so I can go move to Mexico 🤣
😆🤣
at least I'll know what to do when the warranty runs out
I had those installed on my 2011 Tahoe and they have a five yr warranty on them so when they act up I just let them handle it until the warranty runs out
Did you have to bore the engine block for the 0.50 pistons?
Yeah.
I swear Utah looks like it’s on another planet. The landscape is crazy.
It appears as though you failed to re-tighten the clamp closest to the throttle body after wrestling it back into place the last time. ;) When working on critical engine components, be sure to slow down and double check your work folks!
Uhm, not in this case my friend. I have dealt with this clamp system loosening and causing problems countless times. No matter how tight I get them. Now one thing I haven’t tried is a jam nut to lock the clamps in place. Maybe I’ll try that next! Thanks for checking out the video though. 🙌🏻
Got one ..its great I use a 200w sola panel ..folding type not expensive brand with a 120 amp 5 year old gel battery and I runs great..sunset 12.9 or more morning can be down to 12.2 but in half a hour after sunrise battery is back to about 12.4 and goes to 12.9 or more in about 2 hours even on overcast days with patches of sun and shade ..not sure of total cloud cover all day for a few day cos it hasn't happened to me yet ..I use it for several months each year in heat range 25 to 40 + and no trouble if I'm shifting camp I fill it with water bottles if half empty cos mass hold cold better than air and cool it to the temperatures I us and it stays frozen for at least 8 hours maybe more but 8 is about as long as I travel...I set the freezer at - 18 and fridge at 6+ ...great machine love it so far...was using gas fridge and dident want to take a chance on electric but great sola blanket is light and no gas bottles to carry..good luck
Excellent! I recently upgraded the plastic hinges to some red ones that make the lid easy on/off. Check for those!
Worked for me
what size tryes are you running and what offset rims
32 10.50 R15. I don’t know the backspace.
@@AdventureTEQ ah ok they look like 33s in the video
Abosolute professional quality video. Love your neat, clean shop area. No chance of that happening by me. Dang! But the job will get done with your helpful contribution. Thanks so much guy.
Awesome! Thanks a lot! We’re getting ever closer to having this truck running! Stay tuned!
Dude your the best
Welcome back after 10 months absence
I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m “back”… but thanks! 😆🙌🏻
I had a V6 4runner that was rebuilt and the mechanic forgot the C clips on the wrist pins...the block was toast after a few miles.
😫
Thank you so much !
I’m learning that my beloved 2016 tundra has a crappy cargo capacity, which I also learned recently includes driver, passengers any luggage, etc. I have a fiberglass cap as well, and a bedslide. My camper is 3,000 ponds under my tow weight capacity but just unstable when pulling the camper. I installed airlift 5,000 but so far, doesn’t seem to fix my dilemma. I’m going to try different air pressure to see if I can dial it in.
How high is your airbag pressure? My 7,000 lbs camper trailer (loaded) tows nice and true. I do have a load distribution hitch for that trailer. Helps a lot. I also haul a 14,000 lbs capacity trailer and have loaded my 8,500 lbs Land Cruiser onto it. Combined weight of 4500 lbs trailer & Cruiser is about 13000 lbs (severely over gross of the GCVWR) but she hauls straight and true no probs.
Is there any update on if higher psi was enough to fix ur dilemma? I have a 2016 tundra. I'm noticing the same when I haul my camper. But I haven't done the bags yet.
Great video…one question do you notice that it hits the internal bump stop when the rear is empty? I’ve heard people say it hits the bump stop way too easy.
Thanks! I may have felt it hit the bumper once after I first installed them. But i generally keep the pressure upwards of 55 psi at all times. And I have no recollection of hitting stops regularly.
@@AdventureTEQthank you
Holy shit LoL. What kind of air impact gun is that??? 😅
Good tools ❤❤❤
Good video!
I bought what looks like the same hub kit, SUMO GEAR (SBKL3) and it appears to include an extra seal - at any rate I can't see where it it goes - don't remember seeing one during disassembly. About 31mm internal dia. The seal is embedded in a steel 'top hat' with a red rubber outer sealing ring. Any ideas?
Sorry man! I’d give the guys at Cruiser Outfitters a call to help you out.
Im allways putting the chans over my wheels, no need to drive over them
Great video and warning about that brand of ball joints. I know this came out only a few years ago but it seems like it's from another age when he says the truck is lucky to not be in the boneyard and that maybe he should be spending the money on a new truck instead. The value of these trucks and the price of new trucks have both gone way up in the last few years. Definitely worth rockauto prices to keep these trucks on the road, unclear if you could say the same about new trucks being worth their price.
Agreed! I almost always go OEM Toyota parts. It’s always worth it. These are a perfect example of why! You get what you pay for!
Thanks for the video. Looking to this on my 88 rwd to fix the loose steering and creaking under load. How does it drive now?
Drives fine on those parts. Time will tell how well they hold up.
It only works for like 20 min
Dont even show stupid videos like this you shouldnt have a car like that for doing something this petty man come on dont be that guy take it to a guy that will change your pulleys and the belt, dont put that crap on there man
What are you doing this is a land cruiser one of the best toyota engines out there fix it right change the damn tensioner and idler pulley and while you are at it the belt too that car takes care of tou take care of it what the hell are you doing come on man!
Bro… I’ve “fixed it right” for the past 16 years I’ve owned this thing. And this is hardly my only Toyota I have to fix! $400-$700 OEM Toyota parts every time. And yes, I did put a new OEM belt on, which fixed the noise issue, as I think I explained. And that’s what I recommend. Here’s a partial list of what I’ve put into this truck: Denso Starter Intake Reseal Timing Belt Water Pump Power Steering Pump Alternator Radiator T fittings Power Steering Rack Muffler SPC UCA’s OME Heavy Suspension Rear Drive Shaft OEM Front CV Shafts (X2) Vented Brake Discs Next up a Fuel Pump And the list goes on… Thanks for your input on my little video creation for a little belt hack that might help everyone else on the internet that doesn’t drive Land Cruisers. C’mon man! 😆🤣
When it comes to ball joints and tie rods, Id definitely recommend going OEM. Toyota parts are a bit more expensive, but they are quality parts, and they'll fit perfectly. I wouldn't trust Chinese parts at all.
Here here! 🍻
Thanks man. About to tackle this on my LC. Thankfully I've replaced a lot of racks on other Toyota trucks. Still a bear on this truck.
Great job! Well done.
Any idea how to get them to go down to work on them if they are stuck upright?
I don’t know for sure. Have you tried having them actuate downwards while standing on them?? When mine act up, like they have lately, if I actuate them (closing/opening door) and put enough force on them I can get them to go up or down. The motor lately is just too weak to overcome the resistance it’s experiencing.
Mine stopped deploying and is making a super loud noise. Sounds like something is stripped and spinning too fast. But I can’t get to access the motor mounting screws because it is stuck upwards. I have tried standing on it while I open the door but nothing happens.
este tiene menos nieve que Cancun ... no utiliza guantes , las cadenas se colocan sobre el neumático y después se hace marcha atrás , y después no le pone los pulpos de goma ...
Clean belt and put amour all.
Great walkthrough especially the troubleshooting buddy, got a better idea now. Passenger side been goofy since recent rain
I still fight with these. In winter with slush all around they stop functioning properly. Mine are disabled from time to time by disconnecting power wire from main truck battery. A real PITA.
2018 ,same problem not even a year in to new truck loss of brakes to trailer
