- Here we are no-tilling sugar beets in West Central Minnesota. Everyone says you can't no till sugar beets because you need a perfect seed bed. But we have noticed that we can no till beets in out cover crop mixes with major success so it only makes sense that it should work as a cash crop. We are also seeing that the best seed bed possible is in a healthy soil with no-till, so there is another reason this should work. Stay tuned as we watch this field through the summer! Cody, This is great! Huge steps forward. I will attempt to paraphrase, in part, what I think you are saying here: If we work on improving soil aggregate structure we create the opportunity to bring no-till into our cropping system with less risk. If we don't improve soil aggregate structure, no-till may not work well. Carefully selected cover crop species, reduced tillage and expanding the crop rotation can help us improve soil aggregation.
Thumps up man ☺
Wet fields is a problem but also just all the green tops are slick as Snot at harvest time.
What do you do for weed control for sugar beets
What is the depth they need to be if we can only simply cultipack?
How did your yield turn out. We did some min till beets and look excellent till the hail came
What have the sugar beet yielded like?
why is that rye so short if it was planted last year in august? And how did the beets do?
This was in Minnesota in April. And last fall was very cold and wet. A few more weeks would have been great for the rye but that is not what we were after here.
@@covercropkings539 Okay so this rye were about 6-7 months old?
what about the beet yield, were they satisfied?
