"Il Silenzio" is a memorial piece commissioned by the Dutch and first played in 1965 on the 20th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands. It was written by Nini Rosso and Guglielmo Brezza.

This reminds me of my son who saw action in Afghanistan and I thank God every day that he came home, but it also brings a deep feeling of sadness for those who did not return to their loved ones. This should be played regularly to remind us that in spite of all the reminders of what war does, countries still insist on fighting their neighbour... and for what...

This was originally done by Nino Rossi check it out it was also used as the ending soundtrack in the movie Sniper...a truly beautiful tune...when I was a kid I would put 10 cents in the jukebox and play it...And everyone would stop and look at me...the early sixties..❤

My moms best friend recently passed away. She received the news while a radio station was playing this song, she franticly managed to recover the title and mentioned to me there couldn't have been a more beautiful piece of music to receive such devastating news.
This is a very beloved song for me for the first time I listened it I was only 11 years old. I ve loved since then.
In my hometown of Malang, Indonesia, the radio station will play this music as intro of death announcements through the radio.
Recently, almost 200 fans of local soccer team dead from stampede when the police throw tears gas to the crowd. This music hit hard to the community.

Played, upon request of my dad, at his funeral, 2 years ago today. This piece would have me in tears even without that.
My Dad used to play this at home. Gone 18 years and gets me every time I hear it.
Because nowadays humanity lives like this: Sadness, frustration, anger, remorse, feelings of humiliation and failure and even physical discomfort, such as chest pains and shortness of breath. These songs soothe. It brings hope.

I first heard this song about 50 years ago and have been trying to find it ever since then. I thought it was so beautiful, but I wasn't sure of the title, and no one know what song I was talking about. I'm so happy that I finally found it today. It literally brought tears to my eyes.
If you want to cry......watch the end of the film "American Sniper".....first time I ever heard it and cannot forget it now.

Deze melodie herinner ik me als kind, +- 55 jaar geleden, tijdens een zomer-vakantie in de 2de helft van de jaren '60, aan de Belgische West-kust. Het klonk door de megafoon-luidsprekers tijdens een wandeling met de familie op de dijk..
Toen al bracht het 'nostalgia'.

When I first heard this song it reminded me of my father. He was a fantastic musician and played the baritone horn in a band. But this song touched me right down to my soul. I lost my father when I was 9 but this sing immediately made me think of him. I know I'm rambling. I love this song beautiful song.

I never tire of hearing this wondrous trumpet solo. Andre Rieu is a master showman but his music is always special, always poinient, uplifting, the choreography appropriate and moving. I had the pleasure of attending one of his masterpiece concerts with Schoenbrunn Castle as the backdrop in that most musical city, Vienna. An evening I'll never forget it.
My father has mentioned thus tunes several times but couldn't find the name of it. Until I heard it in the closing credits of American sniper. Beautiful tune. Finally found it dad, R.I.P

My father had to run to the military base when they heard it. When the song ended they had to be in. They paid the trumpeter to play it for long. It happened at the beginning of WW2 in Hungary. It is called the "Takarodo" in military terms.

@anyanaraya4483 officialy a request by the Dutch wwII comity to compose an masterpiece in 1965 to remember all of those fallen 20 years ago. Nowadays it's still used to remember all deceased persons. Just by the 3 lines in the song "good night where ever you are."
