Hey I’m late to the game. But, can those legs mount directly to a platform without the crossbars??
Does a few millimeters make that much difference? The racks look a little close together., Would this be a problem for a 70 pound fishing kayak?

Does the door seal good around that door jamb clamp? Dont have to worry about water coming in around it?
Hello. The door frame brackets are custom shaped to match the door frame and they're very thin. There are multiple wind and water seals within the door frame to stop water from entering. Thanks!
Does the catch that goes in the car door cause any damage to the paint? I didnt see any kind of barrier or protection for that piece.

Does the bracket that goes into the door jams creat vacuum or water leaks?

I am having an extremely difficult time getting the vortex rubber strips pressed into the channel on the cross bar. Any tips or tricks? I've also tried feeding it from one end and I have to pull it along with needle nose pliers, but then the end I'm pulling pops out. It's really frustrating!
Hello. We will usually turn the strips upside down and spray the underside with glass cleaner to help lubricate as we press them onto the bar. Hope that help, thanks!

we had this model for a CR-V and installed according to instructions. Used it several times for carrying kayaks. Everything seemed fine until we removed the racks for a trip to Florida. Our roof now has four dents from the feet of the rack. Rhino-Rack says it's not their fault. they won't even offer a refund for racks we can't use again. stay away.
Hello. Sorry to hear of this situation, difficult to speculate as to what may have caused this specific damage. Rhino-Rack and the other manufactures of roof racks engineer the fit to be protective to the roof within certain limitations. If the rack is overweighed, weighted unevenly, or even temporary forces exceed the limits, damage may occur. For those with a bare roof vehicle and the need to transport extra gear, this is a reliable and popular solution, but it is very important to follow all the installation and usage guidelines to avoid potential issues. Again, sorry to hear of this particular bad experience but thanks for sharing.
@@rackattack BS. followed all the steps in detail. used only the provided tool to tighten. Only ever carried two 30# kayaks. Company does not stand behind their product. Sorry to hear of your sorrow but I hope those on here do not waste their money on your racks, or worse, damage their vehicles as I did. Thanks for sharing? thanks for nothing.
