THIS VIDEO IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY
I absolutely loved this series so I hope you enjoy this interview.
Hugh Berry won the programme with his beautifully restored Victorian conversion in Glasgow’s West End.
The home captivated the judges - renowned interior designer Anna Campbell-Jones, architect Michael Angus and lifestyle blogger Kate Spiers - with his Park Terrace flat, which he painstakingly renovated and is now back to its former glory.
The 1850s property was built by celebrated Scottish architect Charles Wilson and was once owned by famous ship-builder William Pearce. It beat fierce competition and was unanimously named Scotland’s Home Of The Year.
The Park Terrace apartment has two bedrooms, an ornate rotunda with a glass roof and stunning sitting room with hand-gilded cornicing - and it moved judge Anna Campbell-Jones to tears when she first stepped inside.

This guy has an amazing eye for real art by real people who are real craftspeople and I think that's what he is showcasing, well done on winning.

The house is the WINNER as it had someone like Hugh fall in love with it who could make it shine..........Any other person wouldve had their designer paint it all white and furnish it from ikea..........Thankyou Hugh...........i almost cried when i watched it on tv for the first time - stunning........and Hugh seems like a nice bloke too - so glad he owns it.

Jaw dropping home, such a deserved winner and humble man. What great providence he bought the house and restored those murals for himself and generations to come!

I visited Glasgow in the early 1960s and all the buildings were black. Many years later I returned and found that they had been sandblasted and were startlingly gorgeous. Thanks for posting this interview.

That's funny you should say that because one of my friends calls it "the black city". It's got a terrible reputation but as you're aware, some parts are really beautiful. Thanks for commenting.

@@arthistorygirl2327 A friend who grew up in Stoke-on-Trent in the 1940s said that in those days the sidewalks crunched when you walked on them, coated with coal dust -- everyone used coal for heating homes. Probably the reason the buildings were as black as coal. You probably know "Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was black as soot, and everywhere that Mary went, his sooty foot he put."

Thomas Miller ...in contrast if you had visited Dundee in the 60,s then returned later you wouldve found they demolished so much that shouldve been kept.

Every person takes, from suggestions, the parts that suit their own trend preferences. So withholding design ‘secrets’ is a generosity that others either learn from but give their own interpretation, or dismiss. Nice young man. Very generous of him to allow us all to view his home.👏🏼🇦🇺

Dave (the man who lived in the house before) is my great uncle. My dad is the nephew mentioned finding Dave hypothermic. Dave passed away in 2018. I myself made a short documentary of how this home looked before it was renovated. It’s gorgeous and couldn’t have been brought to life by anyone else ❤

I'm from Louisiana in the US and I adore your fantastic home! It is formal Victorian, but you have made it a warm family home. It is full of personality as well as beauty ✨️. So many people have homes that are without character....gray modern open plan .....all with a sameness about them.
