1948 Sugar Bowl - Texas vs. Alabama

Texas made its first appearance in the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1948 and the Longhorns defeated Alabama, 27-7, to cap a 10-1 season. Future College and Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Bobby Layne earned Most Outstanding Player honors after throwing for 183 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 51 more yards and another score.
