First of all, Roger is an alien and Klaus is a man in a fish’s body. Second of all, that wouldn’t make sense if Klaus sometimes wears clothes as well. Third of all, Roger doesn’t hate Klaus as much as Quagmire hates Brian.

I like how when it comes to Roger they have to keep him a secret but Klaus is seen speaking outside of the house and even talking to Jeff before finding out Roger is an alien. He's that irrelevant to EVERYONE

Sometimes you feel bad for Klaus, since he's American Dad's Meg. But then he becomes, Klaus, and proves whey he should remain miserable. I'm not talking about when Klaus was just getting his licks back at those who mistreated him, like when he switched bodies with Stan. That's mostly justified. Talking about when the others are genuinely nice to him, giving him an inch of civility, and he takes a mile. Like when Hayley helps cut his hair, when they help find the Omar kid who he had been obsessed about for so long, when Jeff hellped make new fish bowls for his date with Danuta, etc...

Even though roger says he hates klaus there are several episodes where they acknowledge each other as friends. Unlike brian and quagmire. Theres just overall less venom and toxicity in American dad as opposed to family guy.
