francines "I hate you" was frightening. because her snapping was a major hate and realization of how much her life was wasted with him.
What makes Stan and Francine a couple is while both are selfish, it’s clear the two still love each other.
Not to mention both are f**king insane
simple answer : no
In addition, Stan is just as horrible as Peter and Lois, only Francine has had a positive evolution and despite her defects, she is a much better mother and father than Stan, Peter, Lois, Homer and Marge.

I can still tolerate American Dad and all of its characters a lot more than Family Guy. I've outgrown The Simpsons anyway.
At least they actually evolved as a family. If u compare dem from earlier seasons to the ones they've become now, u'll see that now they're way more united, like cmon, Stan literally treats Jeff as his bff now. I think that speaks volumes. Earlier yeah, they were awful

Stan’s a narcissist and Francine is insane and admittedly shallow but I still enjoy watching them.

No. Not particularly, no.
That being said, he's better than Peter, because his love (with all its faults) is true. He's a self-serving, neglectful asshole for sure. But he does love Francine, he gave up Heaven in exchange for eternal damnation so that they could go back to Earth. And in addendum, he does love his kids. To this day, we are still unsure of Hayley's true parentage. The indetity of Hayley's father keeps being brought up, thus it wasn't a 1-time plot device to be forgotten. But Stan still gave her a kidney, and saved her multiple other times. In spite of hating Jeff with a passion, also saves him multiple times, because Hayley is miserable without him. Ironically, he does more damage to his kids than Peter, because he has a (misguided/deluded) care for their wellbeing.
Peter is spiteful, and most recently holding Lois hostage in their marriage under threat of suicide.
Remember his year of wiping his families memories? Entitlement aside, they essentially lost a year of their lifespan

And has a lot of mental issues, but she’s crazy too 😂😂
That’s what makes them better then Peter and Lois

Why did Francine ever marry him?
She wanted to be a do nothing house wife. Before Stan she was a party girl with the largest sex garden in North America.
According to her, he is a great provider and she doesn't want to work.

They definitely do not have a healthy marriage by any stretch of the imagination. HOWEVER, they were clearly made for each other.

He’s really not better than Peter. I just think American Dad is funnier and easier to watch than Family Guy. Who would you rather be married to Peter or Stan? The treatment of both of their wives is hard to watch but for some reason if American Dad wasn’t funny/goofy Stan would be hard to watch with Francine. He is cruel. Just because Francine is written to be “insane” is not a write off. She’s cute and loyal and a okay mother. Compared to what they did to Lois to make Peter’s treatment of her excusable. Stan is an asshole and a bad husband, Peter is too….and just because of the clip at the end Cleveland was too 😂. There’s no question
