    The foam insulation is ideal for both ambient noise/ decibels dampening as well as thermo, brilliant thinking.

    Gotta acknoledge you on your build quality, wow! It looks immaculate.

    That panel looks gorgeous. The wiring looks like it should at this stage of the program. The odds of not having to move some wires around before it's all boxed in, are as close to zero as one can get. I really dig your radio stack rear support solution. That shows some preventative forward thinking, right there. The 'one rivet per strap' idea is extra groovy. You might consider leaving it that way to allow the stack a bit of room to move in case of any frame flex, to relieve possible stress on the panel. You're killin' it. PS...Nice pink sneakers but for some reason, I was expecting bunny slippers.

      Thank you, Joe. Have you passed a color blindness test lately? The sneakers are red like my logo. Perhaps a bit of volcanic dust lightens the hue, but that’s ok. I’m bunny-slippers comfy in my shoe choices. Thanks for always brightening my day, duderonomy.

    Great video, I really appreciate the time you take to document and present to us. I will be starting an S-21 in the fall, so your content is very useful! Thx

      Congrats on taking the plunge! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos.

    Thanks again for taking time on the wiring and routing-- I'm close to that stage myself. Big, big help to see the video! One item to consider at this point is installing the new rudder return pulley system from RANS- the kit is RFK54 and includes an additional pulley for the rudder return system and a cover for the rudder cables forward of the control stick assembly. Worth a look. Shoot me an email and I can give you more detail and pics. Randy

    Looking good. Appreciate the videos. The wiring would be the most intimidating for me. You’re making great progress with it. I’m facing the hard decision between the S21 or RV15. Really wanting to hear more details on the 15 so I can see what fits my missions the best. Either one will be a good decision. Really like how your S21 is coming together. Going to be a great bird when it’s done!

    the panel looks awesome.... with respect to the rudder cables and your radio boxes... couldn't you "sleeve" the rudder cables (ie put them in a piece of conduit) little more work, but will also help protect them too

      Thank you! I get really nervous straying from the manual re: flight controls. I like your idea, but I’m just too cautious to think I know better than the designers. I ended up fabricating a new radio tray to move the LRUs way out of the way. No more issues!

    Nice looking panel! As far as the RV-15 goes, after seeing it and hearing the specs I don’t think it’s even comparable with the S-21 or Kitfox. Significantly bigger, faster and more complex. I’d say it’s a direct competitor with a Sportsman 2+2. Their goal was a slightly scaled down Skywagon if you will

    • @CLEAREDDIRECT
      @CLEAREDDIRECT  Před 2 lety +1

      Agreed. It’s nice that it’s expanding the segment. It’s gonna be pricey…

      @@CLEAREDDIRECT sure will and it would likely take 3 to 4 years to get one in the air. I’m afraid it’s everything I wanted in a high wing back country capable utility plane. Minus the old legacy engine of course🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@CLEAREDDIRECT My first assessment was that it didn't look like a big deal. I don't know about the deal part...but it will be big. Juan Browne said the basic airframe kit is reported to be $50k and it'll probably be another year before it's ready for sale. Unlike most of their stuff, they'll use pop rivets and everything will be final drilled...both of which should save a bit of time in the build.

    • @CLEAREDDIRECT
      @CLEAREDDIRECT  Před 2 lety

      Well by the time they deliver a kit, you (and the wife?) might be ready to build again. In the meantime you’ll have a pretty capable S21 that will have an incredible resale value 👍

    • @CLEAREDDIRECT
      @CLEAREDDIRECT  Před 2 lety +1

      Joe, yeah my initial take is that it’s much more of an airplane and I’m glad I didn’t try to take this (RV-15) on as my first build. The pull rivets will help, but it’ll be a solid 3 year build, minimum. It will surely outweigh the RANS S21 and with the increased engine size, take off okay. But you can’t cheat inertia-even with 50° flaps. That’ll help, but it seems to be a “medium inertia” airplane. I’m glad Van’s is in the game and innovating, especially on the landing gear front. I could see me buying that tail wheel for my RANS and making a Frankenstein.

    hmm i think you are supposed to route the wires in groups in a tree like manner with branches and cut accordingly at time of install. seems difficult to clean up at this stage.

    Where did you end up sourcing the foam board from?

  • @Creations-hj2kq
    @Creations-hj2kq Před 2 lety

    What will happen if lightening strikes, which cables will melt or do you have a main reset-able fuse for that like a UPC on board?

    • @CLEAREDDIRECT
      @CLEAREDDIRECT  Před 2 lety

      Great question. I can reset the VP-X and PPS but cycling the master (battery) switch. The screens have multiple redundancies so hopefully I’d always be able to pull individual CBs.
