This is the story of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 which crashed in the Andes mountains. Roberto Canessa and others eventually lead the survivors to safety. #andes #flight571 #chile #societyofthesnow #alive
What suprises me the most is that they didn't thought of going down the mountain earlier, specially after hearing that there was no ond looking for them anymore
It was to cold to survive at night outside the plane, took them weeks and several expeditions to find the way to survive the cold and be able to do the long hiking
What surprises me the most is that you don't know how HUGE and incredibly cold this mountain RANGE is! Going away from the plane was their last resource and they could die!
of course they would've thought of it. they were likely just extremely afraid and unsure, because the snow was to their waists and it was 4 days of walking in the freezing cold with little food away.
Nando wasn’t just another passenger. First off they were all friends and what he and Roberto did was remarkable. They hiked 70km which took them ten days. They got sick and suffered frostbite. Also there was only one man on horseback.
My father is a friend of one of the survivors. He is doing great, and somehow, he still travels on airplanes, BUT now he brings everything he needs just in case, mostly canned foods.
For those asking if this is the society of the snow, yes it is. Uruguayan Airforce flight transporting rugby players to Santiago de chile, pilot error, he saw he was in final approach.
There’s actually 2 movies on this actually. I saw the newest one and it’s very well made. Theres also pictures online that they took while in the mountains and you can literally see a rib cage off to the side of one.
“ Which in Celsius is… idk because I’m American but it’s really f***** cold”😂😂
💀
That made me smile 😂

Ahh yes. *jorse*
And props to the jorse too!
What suprises me the most is that they didn't thought of going down the mountain earlier, specially after hearing that there was no ond looking for them anymore
because they needed to wait until Spring, otherwise the low temperatures and avalanches would have killed them
The Andes is a massive range of mountains. It's not just about going down one mountain, it's going down, around, over tons of mountains.

With Boeing planes crashing so often. I am scared to even travel anymore.

It just goes to show the strength of human spirit in face of unimaginable adversity. Thanks for sharing, always admire this kind of resilience.

Goes to show, that we can be brainrot. But when we really need to survive, we can.
I wonder if they're living a happy life nowadays. In what way has the experience altered their attitude in life

Stories like this keep me grounded. I'm thankful that i have no need to hop on a plane and fly anywhere.
Adventure and travel has its risks. You can either stay inside and live to 90 or go to places and live a little.
There's a way higher chance being in a car crash
Props to the guy who rode 10 hours to the nearest town to get help 👏
WOW, that rancher going 10 hours on horseback is awesome.
People judged them for eating human meat. Try to say no to that when you're starving on the side of a freezing cold mountain.
Yeah, I'd rather die then do that. Nasty.
Do you even know starving@@Avaness-pz9yb
@@Avaness-pz9yb you have never experienced what life threatening starvation feels like. Almost all people will become nasty in such a predicament.
There's a huge difference between eating humans for pleasure and for survival.
Yeah, no, cannibalism is fubar, if you wanna do something so base just to survive, the other humans on earth should treat you accordingly.
they nearly got charged for eatting people in the legal system, family left them for what they did, its actually glossed over here.
Well that’s ridiculous so what they ate someone they were on a mountain alone with no food
I just watched this movie . It's called Society of the Snow (2023)
You should make more videos of crazy nature situations and how people survived or could have survived. That would be entertaining and educational.
For those asking if this is the society of the snow, yes it is.
