When Peter Capaldi was talking about eating the pies to get out of a locked room, I just imagined the scene at the end of Heaven Sent, but instead of punching a diamond wall he eats a little bit more pie each time

YAYYYYY, Jenna Coleman fans!! She is great!! Can't believe how many idiots dislike her!! There is no best companion, they are all the best. They are all different, but they change way too often.
Compared to Matt and David in interviews Peter has taken some getting used to - he's not an entertainer - he's so genuine and warm and really talks about his craft. I think I like him most of all and I find the things he talks about fascinating - sets and direction and art and ... He's amazing and gives us an insight into the reality of the television world that's beautiful and appreciative.
Yes, he seems a bit on a quiet side in comparison, but he has lots of interesting things to say, because being a fanboy himself he knows exactly what fans would be interested to find out.
Same here - he’s thoughtful and speaks slow-paced. He is really just built for being himself
Agree with you, but you can tell from anything you see him do, he's really a lovely man. Very kind.
Peter really is not that far removed from the Doctor he plays. Very intelligent, articulate, and measured. The main distance between PC and the Doc is his modesty and humbleness.
It's funny to see her body language, she's leaning in Capaldi's direction all the time hahaha you can see they're reallly close friends.
She looked a bit anxious to me too, a bit disconforted also

Peter Capaldi is such smart man. He is the master of words. Everything what comes out of his mouth has so much of the essence of our possible feelings about the show, he really understood the whole doctor thing. And to hear someone saying it out load what everybody's thinking and feeling and wrapping it up in beautiful words is really speciall

Totally agree, Steven Gätjen is one of the best hosts we have here. I'm seeing this interview for the first time and I am really enjoying it, such a nice and fun duo.
As a native German, I immediately thought: "Hang on, that accent..." I've seen him somewhere but I don't remember where.

I was introduced to Dr. WHO via Tennant (who I love), started watching faithfully during Smith (who I love), but Peter is MY DOCTOR!! I can't totally explain it, but I connected to his interpretation of the character.
I started too bc of david tennant. I started with 9 and loved him then got to 10 and partly 11. Then i wanted to see why everyone hated 13 so i got on there. Actually loved it until flux haha. Then i found out how amazing 12 was and continued there.
I think he brings closure to many parts of David's arch, and also brings the essence of the first doctor with him.
well they are both charming, it lovely to see peter more relaxed and at ease with it all.
when Peter was first announced as the Doctor, I was, to say the least, not happy. The last thing I remembered him in was Torchwood COE and I hated his character so much I couldn't even imagine him as the Doctor. So in this interview when they asked him how different it was for him to do Torchwood as opposed to DW, I sat for a few minutes thinking, "when was Capaldi's Doctor on TW"? I was ready to do a Google search, when I suddenly realized what they were talking about. Peter has so embodied the Doctor that I literally couldn't think of him as any other character. That's how brilliant he is as an actor, and why Capaldi is now my favorite Doctor.

Peter hit the nail on the head with Doctor Who being like a glorious accident. It's a representation of life. All of our lives are as much accident as they are carefully made plans. Life is what happens while you're making plans and the Doctor stays in the moment and wonder of life even when they plans go awry.

Great questions. It is fun watching Capaldi squirm hinting at questions to future episodes that I have already watched. Capaldi and Coleman have created Dr. Who masterpiece episodes that will go down in history as some of the best.

At first i was unsure of Capaldis Doctor. Now, i love him! Such a great development of his Doctor.
That thought by Peter about The Doctor knowing the fate of each of his companions is really interesting. (Though Jenna's shiny legs are very distracting:P)

07:05 Fact: Steven Moffat had Peter in mind before casting Matt Smith, and it was the boyish charm Matt brought to the audition that nailed him the part. Steven was looking for a Doctor Peter's age (ideally Peter). When Matt left, Steven knew who he was calling.
Additional fact: Peter said no the the Doctor Who movie in the 90's as he thought the Americans would fuck it up (paraphrased)
