Samsung Galaxy S10e Vs iPhone XR - Fair Fight?

  • I walked into this comparison thinking that I should compare the Galaxy S10e to the iPhone XS. Sure the price matches more the XR, but feature wise, it seems to be most fit to take the more expensive XS. But then I realized that that’s precisely the reason why this should be a comparison against the iPhone XR. If your budget is $750, which entry-level flagship gives you the most for your money? I’m Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow and let’s dive in.

I rather have the S10 instead of S10e or S10+. The S10 ousted the S10e for its triple camera setup and the only noticeable difference between S10 and S10+ is the dual front camera, which I don't really care much.

That’s why you have seen a lot of smartphones with oled display always put higher resolution and ppi to make your display looks sharp. So don’t get fooled by numbers

Samsung puts lot of gimmicky stuff in their phones to lure the customers but if you want to use a phone as a phone then XR do just that perfectly. XR’s hardware may be inferior to S10e but no way XR is slower than S10e. As i used both, i dont find any difference in their performance and display. Unfortunately no CZcamsr highlights the benefits of LCD over OLED that it doesn’t burn in within time as well as eyes get less tired. Furthermore, only few CZcamsrs highlight the fact that iPhones get up to 6 years of latest OS support. And overall Apple products’ prices depreciate way slower than any other’s products, which lets you reselling them at a much higher value. I agree that in a short term s10e is a better value but not in a long term.

I think it's the time when people normally upgrade anyway at the said 3 yrs mark. About phone selling, I don't sell my phone after about 3 yrs cause I know it's better to keep it than get just a meager amount given the years whether iPhone or Android. Of course selling is considered when you upgrade every year. Do you?

dreistheman in the UK we only get an Exynos and no way am I paying more than the Snapdragon is in the US. It is a far inferior SOC and when some carriers are selling the P30 effectively at £0 on a two year contract then that is an easy choice. With Huawei pushing hard into Europe due to the US political posturing there is far more value in the p30 over a s10e. I do not see an iPhone XR as competition to the s10e, two different groups, especially in the UK where carriers give great deals so the price of the XS compared to the s10e is not significant. The p30 is much more important as a rival to the s10e than an iPhone, especially outside the US where we are seemingly less fandom like to two or three OEMs.

Jamzy I had redmi note 3 with 1080p and compared with iPhone XR 828p, the iPhone screen is much better.
I had 3-4 Android phones over 6 years, flashing firmware is a pain in the ass and unofficial firmware is usually buggy. That's why I moved to iOS.

I love iphones, they're really elegant and pretty, but I just can't spend more money for less features and less "freedom" while using a phone tbh, so I went with the galaxy s10e, so far so good :)

Please talk about Samsung default/stock apps. Are they good for productivity? Do messages, mail and calendar integrate? Is the browser any good? Opening attachments properly or clunky disjointed mess - these are the things people with jobs want to know. I don't sit and take pictures all day or play games.

Hi hi-me, the only advantage is the Apple eco system on the XR. No dongle & a 5w charger is so unnecessary. Apple just cheaped out. The 10e's display & hardware just shines. I think their both great phones but I chose the 10e. Very good review!

I've been an iPhone user for 3 years (iPhone 5 and, later, 6s). After 2,5 years on 6s I've decided I need to change the boring iOS with an Samsung s9. After 6 months, I cannot wait to switch back to iPhone. Ok, Samsung checks a lot of boxes (SD card, dark mode, head phone jack, costumasation etc) but the iPhone what can do it does well (the search option is on another level, a way more stable OS, the photo navigation bar , the battery, photos true to life etc). I guess the little things done right count way more for me than the load of options that can be improved.

@@mkdzzxc nope, dream on. Software updates is not really bothering me like it used to. We've gone to the point that software updates are not to be excited about anymore. Pls tell me what ground breaking features does the new Android Q has that One UI doesn't? One UI even surpasses stock Android like in dark mode
And that's your excuse for Apple not having a fast charger in the box? Fast charging can only do damage if you're careless with your phone and Samsung has the option to disable fast charging in its software. Plus why would Apple sell fast chargers for iPhones then?

I have the S10e but since Monday, April 1st I pretty much haven't had any cellular service through Sprint since we all know that the Sprint S10's (doesn't matter if it's a S10e, S10, or S10 plus) aren't working right. Battery life has been crap since I got it at launch. My HTC U11 I returned at the end of my lease to swap for the S10e I had since July 2017 still had way better battery life and it was actually a 3000 mAh battery vs the 3100 mAh battery in the S10e! SMH!
