- Today i wanted to review the Flison mackinaw wool anorak. Filson is currently out of stock but i was told by customer service they will be back in stock sometime in December. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video. I love all things wool and have many products and clothing items i'm hoping to make video review about. Let me know what you think & i will answer any questions you may have.
Nice review. I called Filson here in the USA and was told these sold out the first day they went on sale. The customer service employee told me Filson management was going to discuss maybe offering it again. It was a special run item so that may or may not happen! I love the Filson mackinaw wool products and own there cruiser, Greenwood jacket, pants, hats and vests. Thanks for sharing!
Ah, I was wondering where the version with the pass-through front pocket was. I only see the full zip front.
They just added it in navy to the filson website if your Interested!
@@wildforwool3821 Txs. I don't care for navy. Would order a black in a second. I've backordered a Weatherwool Olive drab Anorak. From all the reviews it's a big step over the Filson and the price reveals that 600 bucks!

Very cool Anorak. Love the inside pocket, side zipper, and cuff snaps. I am bummed to hear about the zipper, as most all their products showcase the brass Filson zippers. Good review and I think the length is perfect.
Got mine last week, really like it. There wool is very nice indeed!

Hello, Wild for Wool and sorry to be so far behind the original post ... Woolens that are made in USA or Canada pass across the border without duty. We're an American company with about 10% of our customers in Canada, so this comes up all the time. The only additional charges our customers pay are GST and PST depending on province. NO IMPORT DUTIES!! ........ Regarding Zippers: Filson may have decided against Brass because of noise or reflectivity. Those are two reasons we don't use metal zips. Plan on buying the Mack Cape Coat and Yukon Wool anorak this coming week. Unfortunately they'll be sidelined for a year or so. As I plan on losing a tremendous amount of weight and currently won't be able to fit the sizes I plan on ordering.

Great vid man! Now I have a dilemma, should I invest in the Mackinaw cruiser or the Anorak. That’s a luxury problem I guess lol. They are sooo expensive but you get what you pay for. Looking forward to more vids.
Glad you liked it! And I hate to say it man but you gotta just invest in both lol I find the cruiser is more versatile and is definitely easier to layer more pieces underneath, it can also be more classy as well for dressing up, just depends what your wanting to do with it. You won’t regret either of them!
I've owned the cruiser for many years and it's a great coat and has a real nice large utility pocket in the rear. Of course the Anorak has a hood and the nice kangaroo pocket. Good luck finding one though!
Just buy the cruiser or double mackinaw. The anorak is beautiful dont get me wrong but you definitely dont need both and the mackinaw is timeless, more versatile, bombproof and has no zippers to fail you in the field.
Buy their foul weather hoodie. Best of both worlds with the added benefit of tin cloth on the hood, shoulders and arms.

Hey I have a question for you since you live in north where Filson was designed for; if you were headed out on a trek and didn’t know how long you’d be gone. But you knew you’d have a high energy output during the cold days (hiking, building shelter, finding water, carrying everything you have to the next location, etc) and very cold nights; what would you bring to wear?

Check out Ebay, but buyer beware. Every now and then they show up on there. Anytime I have bought outdoor gear /clothing 2nd hand, the seller is always hiding flaws; rips/tear/worn out spots etc. But there are some reputable sellers.

I own a Weatherwool Anorak very warm, very well made, does not itch very happy with the purchase. WeatherWool has the best wool in the business for sure and in my case well worth the money!! Made in the USA which is another plus, mine will be passed down to my family. You get what you pay for.
I just put up some crappy reviews of excellent WW products. I really like this guy, though. And he is definitely more hardcore than me.

It was a boreal mountain one, the one made from an old military blanket. They have a couple different styles, if you got the one that is 100% wool you should be good lol
