    I have been using 50s Noir for several months now and it's one of my two main Fujifilm recipes. It's great for moody portraits but I particularly love the look of water - people on the beach or coastal landscapes. Examples posted on Flickr. Thanks for creating.

    Even though it was quick thank you for the mention of the clarity slider because it catches a lot of Fuji users off guard. If you find you're using the clarity slider a lot, you can set the editing software to apply it instantly upon import and leave it set at zero in the camera.

      Again thank you for the clarity warning. Was on a photography workshop and it took a relatively long period after taking the picture before the buffer cleared. Unfortunately, this occurred during the entire workshop. Went to B&H while still in NYC and learned someone, who I don’t know, changed the clarity from 0. Easy fix when you know what the problem is.

    Added these to my XT-5 today and went for a photo walk. So far my favorite is the Newspaper. It's still sort of a bummer that Clarity slows down the camera a lot, so it needs to be used intentionally.

    Really excellent, Kevin. Thank you so much for these. I have an XPro2 and an X-T5. I always shoot JPG and RAW. Unlike the X-T5, on the XPro2, WB shift can only be set separately in the main menu whereas it can be adjusted in the WB setting in the custom settings. Will this impact the colours recorded in the RAW file or just in the JPG?

    Off topic but interesting.
    Fuji rumors stated the next summit is February 20th. They will announce the X100VI. The X100VI will have the 40MP sensor and engine processor 5 from the XT5/XH2. IBIS will be present. Sounds like a great package. Hope the new lens used on the X100V can resolve well on the 40MP sensor. Will preorder on day one.
    I bet the X100VI will be more expensive than the X100V at launch. It will be cheaper than the inflated premium demanded for used X100Vs.
    I’ve seen these presets from a previous video. Thank you for sharing them again.

    I see that your 50s noir is different from the one you made few years back (I always keep screenshos on my phone of your simulations and the sims in my cameras). I use that one and it was constantly crushing the blacks and shadows, I had to tone it down in some areas to fit the low light photos I was taking. I'll definitely try this new one. I'll also try the other ones as they seem different from your previous ones and I'll keep an eye on the blacks and shadows so they keep some details.

    • @kevin_mullins
      @kevin_mullins  Před 6 měsíci

    • @raytbrown2
      @raytbrown2 Před 6 měsíci

      Glad for the back & forth, but it's not clear as to how this makes sense. If I am trying to learn how the settings are different; but I'm being presented with the same image output, I cannot see how that's effective. Maybe I'm missing something. And if so, I am sorry for being a grumpy poster.
      Allow me to paint the picture this way. Imagine that I want to learn how to draw shapes from your instruction (circles, squares and triangles). You then describe the 3 points of a triangle and maybe even the 4 sides of a square; but you keep showing a circle being drawn on screen. The image never matches the text being described. It never matches the description and doesn't make sense. As such, I'll never learn. I hope you can imagine the potential confusion that might ensue. This was the effect that your video about B&W settings had for me. I wanted to learn; but couldn't.

      @@raytbrown2 The way I have done it is correct. The series of images are used to show the difference in the settings. Then, the same series of pictures for the following three recipes. If that's what's taking place, I agree with you. But from my POV, I didn't see that nor could tell from the audio that this (agreeably proven method) was occurring. If I'm the only one, then I'm just crazy. If I'm not, maybe I have a point. Either way, I thank you for the polite banter and hope to see your B&W settings in another video that speaks more clearly to me. Thank you!@@kevin_mullins

    Hi Kevin, wonderful simulations. I definitely will try one or two of them. I loved that you used the same pictures for each simulation. It would be great if you could show in the outro each single of the pictures again in all 4 simulations. This way it's easier to compare on a glance.
    About you Lightroom setting, I though LR still struggles with Fuji Raws and the way the sensor is setup differently? Did Adobe solve this nowadays?

    • @kevin_mullins
      @kevin_mullins  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Lightroom has never struggled with Fuji files in my experience. Generally, people over sharpen files (the default sharpening by Lightroom is not the best). Adjust the sharpening accordingly in LR and then no drama.
