"When you eat your Smarties, do you eat the red ones last ? Do you suck them very slowly, or crunch them very fast ? Eat that candy coated chocolate , but tell me when I ask, when you eat your Smarties do you eat the red ones last" ...this jingle is embedded in every Canadian of my generation.
Love the video !
Dude. I have my ear worm for today. You are very correct. It is embedded in my psyche.
I sang it too!! Born 1967 June 12th. Smarties used to be WAY BETTER!!! Now they taste like chemicals
"These are Candy coated chocolates, But tell me when I ask".They DIDN'T Have the Hickory Sticks. I always like to get those, however I'm trying to stay AWAY From so much Sodium.
I just sang that post! 😏
@@matthewwilson9749 Along with "How do you like your coffee? Crisp! You like your coffee crisp? I like my Coffee Crisp!" Ah, the 60s were a simpler time.
“ is Halloween popular in Canada?“..... yes, all us little kids love going from igloo to igloo, collecting our beaver and moose treats.... 🙄🇨🇦
😂 Halloween isn't popular across the entire world, so I wasn't sure 🤷🏻♀️
@@CourtneyLeighEats That’s OK 😏 .. We are ‘North America’ - just like the US is 😉
😂😂😂😂
Love the sarcasm.
Excellent answe😂r
We have American "Smarties" in Canada, but up here they're called "Rockets"
As someone that grew up in Canada I have had all of these. My favorites are All Dressed chips, Coffee Crisp and Cadbury Caramilk. Not that any of the candies listed are bad. They are all great.
Old Dutch are the OG of ketchup chips and are the best lol
Was about to say. Lays WTF!
@@funkydmunky1 Lays=Johnny Come Lately
I prefer lays ketchup but Old Dutch All Dressed not ruffles.
yup too true
Can't be a full Canadian taste test without the Vachon family of fine products: Jos Louis, Ah, Caramel, Passion Flakie, Billot Log, 1/2 Moon to name a few
She recently brought me back some more snacks, so hopefully some of those are in there 😎
@@CourtneyLeighEats The Irish liked them LOL "Irish People Try Canadian Cakes"
Vachon is the just the Canadian branding for Hostess.. they are identical in everything but name.
@@astralnomad Vachon was founded by Joseph-Arcade and Rose-Anna Vachon Giroux in 1923
Mars bars are so good 😊
I think it’s amazing seeing people try our candy and seeing how they like it
I love it! She recently brought me back some potato chips and other snacks, so we should hopefully be doing a part two!
@@CourtneyLeighEats I'm Hoping She got You some Hickory Sticks, Butter Tarts, Vachon pastries,Nanaimo bars, Maple cookies, Presidents choices chocolate chips cookies.
With chips, it's always good to turn the bag upside down and give it a couple of shakes. It redistributes the flavour crystals that settle on the bottom of the bag.
🤯🤯 uh yeah I’m definitely going to have to do that every time I eat chips from now on
Crispy crunch my all time favourite bar. Enjoyed your taste test. 👍🏻
The original kethcup chips are Old Dutch. Lay's are good and many prefer them, but they're not OG.
CRUNCHIE belongs in every Canadian snack taste session!
The colors of Smarties are more subdued now than when I was a kid because they went away from the additives for coloring.
They are best to me if you can suck on them for a bit, then the chocolate seems much tastier when melted. 😉
They tasted better before as well
I ate Mars bars in USA since the 60's, but around 80 they quit putting the whole almonds on top ( under the chocolate) so I quit. Haven't looked for them since. Being from Montana, we loved getting Cadbury chocolate from Canada.
Was watching reactions to canadian snacks, and your video popped up, and I'm really glad I watched it! I'm from Quebec and I loved your reactions! You gained a new subscriber! Keep up the work, and looking froward for more canadian snacks reaction, hopefully the whole Vachon Family lines of cakes... created in Québec, might I add... ;) the Jos Louis chocolate cream filled cake... the Demi-Lune vanilla cream filled half cake...and many more! Much love and respect from Montmagny, Québec! xo
Thank you!!I can't wait to do another one. I showed my friend this comment so she can try to grab some of those items!
When I was a kid in the 1970s, my friends and I would take the ferry boat up from Seattle to B.C. and bring back toffee and other kinds of candy that one cannot buy in the USA. 😊
Hello from Prince Edward Island, Canada. This was fun. If I may offer a "next time" suggestion. Bring back a "Wunderbar" from Canada. If you like Reese's, you'll love Wunderbar (By Cadbury).
I will have to try it! Thanks so much for watching ☺️
That’s my favourite chocolate bar 🍫- especially when it’s super fresh! 🤤🤓👍
Well here's something I don't see very often - another Islander!! It's rare to find one of us, since there are so few :)
Caramilk had a buddy chocolate years ago called - RUM & BUTTER -. If you love the Caramilk you would have died for the rum & butter. They are the best deep-fried.
That sounds incredible🤤
Yall didn't get the Hickory Sticks? they are the best! My favorite from the USA is the Olde English 800's its a 40oz beer in America that used to sell in Canada but not anymore. and the Chopped Cheese sandwiches in New York? OMG! They have it on the special menu at some of the Subway resturants but its just not the same as how its done in America. Also Canada does NOT have the Paqui One Chip Challenge. those things apparently cost like $10 in America and $100 in Canada.
Also what you call Smarties in America is called Rockets in Canada. you only see those sell at the dollar store or candy shop near Halloween.
Love you guys! Regular aero is chocolate on the inside not white. Krispy krunch is a bit like a butter finger...corn flakes PB and hard candy. Delish. Great selection.
Mm that sounds good. Thanks for watching 🥰
Nice to see people introducing Canadian candy and snacks for Americans to try. Glad that Courtney liked the chips and chocolates.
PS: Wanted to mention - Marta, you are the spitting image of the actress Hallee Hirsh who played (the older) "Rachel Greene" on the series "ER." Well they say everyone has a twin somewhere in the world..... 🙂
Old Dutch ketchup chips and Ruffles All Dressed are soooooo good.
EH YO!! Canadian here. I dont remember why but when i was a kid our schools made us go door to door selling Caramilk bars. They NEVER had the purple wraper!!
Been living in the US for a few years now, but anytime my family and I go up for a visit to Canada, we always bring back so many snacks, ranging from Smarties, Coffee Crisp, All Dressed Chips, cheezies, etc. We stock up when we make the trip.
Mars bars came on the Canadian scene years after our Malted Milk bars
Re: Halloween - Guising (dressing up in costumes) first came to Canada from Ireland/Scotland. It then went to the US from Canada. Also, the phrase "trick or treat" originates in Canada.
There is a historical story behind the Red Ones Last and why they made the commercial. But it's a long story.
Oh cool, I’ll have to look up the story!
@@CourtneyLeighEats
Once upon a time, in a far away land, there lived a sad king who searched the entire kingdom looking for the lost royal rubies...
🙂
As a Canadian, how can you not know that that is not the original chocolate AERO bar…?? THE WHITE ‘chocolate’ one is... gross 🤢
Love your cat💫🐾
Mars bars used to exist in the U.S., I used to eat them all the time back in the 80's. I stopped seeing them in the mid 90's.
As for Ketchup chips, you can't get them in the U.S., in conventional grocery stores. Also, the best Ketchup chip brand is Old Dutch, also, it's a Canadian owned company and brand, wheras Lays is owned by Frito Lay, and is a U.S. Brand. For those with a dairy allergy, don't eat the Lays Ketchup chips, because they contain milk. Old Dutch is the way to go.
This is all good to know, thank you!!
The first time I saw Maynard's it was their wine gums. It was a roll of gummies and kinda looked and tasted (or as kids would think) but oh so good
th OG ketchup chips was a brand called Hostess and they came in a foil/paper package.
original aero is pure milk chocolate with out white chocolate
Not sure if this is a " Canadian " chocolate bar... it's called "Crunchie " by Cadbury. They are soooooooooo good and addictive !!!!
The crispy crunch inside is peanut butter
Hi ,I'm French Canadian, and think you guys Great :)
Ketchup flavoured chips and All Dressed are both Canadian originated flavours. I think there is a company in upstate NY trying to call them Syracuse flavour or something.
Canada also has a similar candy/sweet to the US Smarties, however they are called Rockets.
Mondelez is a corporation (LLC?) , they do not "make" candy, they just profit from Sales and Marketing under their corporate conglomeration of multi-faceted candy manufacturers ... that's why they (Mondelez) keep the originating Brand name on the product, so consumers can identify the brands they are familiar with.
Canadian oh Henry and hickory sticks.
I honestly don't think I could pick a favourite candy from Maynards. The fuzzy peaches, Sour cherry blasters, sweedish fish and sweedish berries are all good. Was never a fan of wine gums growing up in the 80's/90's. My top 3 discontinued smacks that I would love to have back are taco bell or pizza hut doritos, nestle dibs and butterfinger BB's
Right Well Balance YeAh!!!!
Caramilk my very favourite
I have been eating Mars Bars here in the US since I was a kid and I'm 54
Suck on the smarties, you can’t do that with M & Ms. Cadbury is a British company that’s why the British countries get them and not the U.S. Mars bars are also good frozen.
Now I wish I hadn’t finished them all 😂
someone correct me if im wrong but i believe the US version of mars is milky way bars
When Aero says feel the bubbles melt.... That literally means no chewing!!!! Why doesn't anyone do it correctly😂
Crispy Crunch were my go to blizzard at Dairy Queen...but alas they no longer make them.
That sound so good 🤤
Second bag
I'd give you a high five if you did the cereal one
Cute video
All dressed is a combination of the four original classic flavours. Bbq, salt and vinegar, ketchup and sour cream and onion.
That honestly makes a lot of sense! And now I want some 🤤
@@CourtneyLeighEats Me too. I’m planning on getting some tomorrow. 😊
You know what the USA has a lot more than Canada does cereal selection
The words for the Canadian advertising jingle for Smarties from the 1970s until the mid-1990s were:
When you eat your Smarties, do you eat the red ones last?
Do you suck them very slowly, or crunch them very fast?
Eat those candy-coated chocolates, but tell me when I ask:
When you eat your Smarties, do you eat the red ones last?
Have you ever had the Tim Hortons cereal from Post?
I haven’t 👀 maybe I should do a full cereal taste test? There’s some crazy ones out nowadays
You should! I work in the cereal industry and there are some crazy ones out there!
The potatoes are patented owned by the Pepsicorp.
You have to try poutine now. Lol
watch how they make peanut birtal in candy stores I think that might be it
Og ketchup for me is old Dutch
No Thrills Gum?
It says right on yhe package, "it still tastes like soap."
That aero bar is not the regular one
All-Dressed because they are dressed with all the original flavors mixed..
Canadian Smarties = US M&Ms, US Smarties = Canadian "Rockets" only seen in halloween candy
It use to be a commercial actually. With different people or a robot doing intro and kids singing Corus.

“When you eat your smarties , do you eat the red ones last? Do you suck them very slowly? Or crunch them ver fast? Eat that candy coated chocolate. But tell me when I ask. When you eat your smarties do you eat the red ones last”.
Hello Courtney Leigh my name is Gabriel from USA America Nice I've tried all of the Canadian snacks food and drinks from Canada man I want to say I love Canadian food snacks and drinks I especially love poutine poutine is my favorite dinner but I've never tried ketchup flavored lays even tho I ordered some last Saturday it doesn't come until Tuesday April 30th I'm super excited to try it and when I do try it I'll let you ladies know how it turned out Canada is my future home to move to I'm American who likes anything Canadian my preference are Canadian women other than my own kind ?
Everywhere in the world call a Mars bar, a Mars bar. ONLY in the States it's called Milky Way. Because of the fight the son had with his father, left the company and went on to invent M&M'S
And Americans don't like to do things like the rest of the world. Imperial V. Metric. Just saying.
Hello my friend like 👍
Hello! 😊
English and French are not called native languages in Canada, they are the two official languages of Canada and referred to as such.
The Irish do a deep fried Mars bar at their fish and chip shops
Oh wow 🤤🤤🤤
Old Dutch ketchup are better than lays. In fact I like most old Dutch over lays.
Mars bars are very similar to Milky Way
Actually, M&Ms were copied from Smarties because they used to be part of the British/Canadian troops rations during WW1 and US troops got to taste the Smarties and somehow developed M&Ms when they got back to the states.
I hate coffee and love Coffee Crisp. lol. Also, Pringles are good dipped in ketchup. Also Munchos.
>_>
The coffee crisp were so good!! And wait, now I want to try that 😅 and need to try whatever munchos are
@@CourtneyLeighEats Munchos are a really greasy and salty potato chip. They were just basic plain and i think theyve added some new flavours.
Edit - plain Pringles are best with ketchup. No flavours to muddle it up. And Munchos can be hard to find. They vanished for about 5 years for me in Canada. lol.
Put the Mars bar in the fridge for a couple of hours….
Oooh good call 👀
Eat the ketchup chips with cheetos. its bascially a cheeseburger.
Standard Aero bars are not white chocolate.
Lay's sucks. Old Dutch is better
this
Yes Old Dutch Ketchup are the OG, not even close, boot to Lays!
US smarties are called rockets here
French and English are our official languages not native languages. The tag native languages is only applied to all indigenous languages
Specially selected potatoes do matter. Do you realize how many different types of potatoes there are? They come in many colors and starchiness and textures. Some better for mashed, some better for frying and some for french fries(Mcds has a specific type), Some better for mashed etc.. so it is important
Smarties used to be better flavor candy coating. Now it taste weird IMO
for the chips. hostess or old dutch would be more authentically canadian. especially for ketchup and all dressed flavours. lays are NOT the og, lays is an american brand. ruffles are also acceptable but not as canadian as hostess or old dutch.
Quite certain Old dutch is the OG ketchup chip.
Never "eat" an Aero, ever. Place it on your tongue and let the various nuances of it carry you away as it dissolves on your tongue.
Every one of these videos, whenever someone brings out ketchup chips from Canada its always 'Lays' brand....
Lays has such a chemical taste.... if you look at the chips the ketchup salt is actually purple/red in color almost. If anyone wants a REAL ketchup chip, it's the brand 'Old Dutch'
Old Dutch makes a better ketchup and is the cross country OG
Im canadian. Dont do lays when when testing. Lays is the worst chip in canada go with old dutch
Smarties used to taste better and be brighter colours but now there are no artificial colours and they don’t look or taste quite as good.
I wish I had the old ones to do a comparison 😅
Pretty ladies. If you ever come to Canada i'll gladly show you around. ;)
Old Dutch is better.
Yes, us Canadians really love that even though the French population in Canada is less than ten percent one of our Prime Ministers decided that French should be the second language---- he was French, but surely that had nothing to do with it.
