I can insure you that this method is not recommend. When drilling the seal you will not get all the chips out. If you flush the motor with fluid you will only further contaminate the motor and the rest of the system when the motor is back in operation. Fluid cleanliness is crucial for the longevity of the hydraulic circuit so take the extra 5 minutes and remove the bolts, inspect the gear set, and remove the shaft seal by punching it out. I know you only demonstrated this method

How did fixing the leak go? I have a shaft leak also and it seems like an easy fix
@@MTnumber11 It is leak free after 15 hours of running. It does "weep" but doesn't constantly drop like before so I am super happy with the repair.
As a svc maintenance tech for a few years, I have to say; good job. And impressive shop!

Why not remove the snap ring and connect hydraulic pump to motor pack and start the pump and the seal would be pushed out
