2003-2006, such a fire era for sports gaming and gaming in general.
The reason games like SSX, Tony Hawk and even NBA Street worked is because you didn't didn't need to be a fan of snowboarding or skateboarding to love these games
Still remember the first time I played tony hawk in 99. Then they kept dropping banger after banger. Good times
Yup they were just pure fun
Fr
Fifa 2005 was my favorite game back then.
@@nicco1295 how was that ? I didn’t get into fifa till 2017
Bro it's like EA deliberately said, "how can we make ourselves the most hated"?
Def Jam Fight For NY and NBA Street Vol. 2 was the peak of video game existence.
Saying that's the peak is like saying Norbit was the peak of Hollywood.
@@user-ph5ro8xl4o he swings,and he misses.

They could just do a remaster and I'd be haply. Don't change nothing in game but update graphics and I'd be happy to repurchase it.
Yes to a remaster
Im not crying. You're crying. Games were so diverse back then. I miss it. 😢
Everyone was trying to find the next big thing at the time which could've ended up being anything. Too bad it ended up being fortnite
What do you mean, you know you want generic 3rd person shooter with more cutscenes than game play with a non binary/lesbian protagonist #93.

Fight for NY is one of the best games I've ever played.. I don't even want a sequel just remaster it and drop it on modern consoles
@@mullaoslofr if only they realize how much money they would make an for the ppl that hasnt even played it yet

Early to mid 2000s EA was seriously unrivaled. Banger after banger.
Nba live 2003 to 2006 were all fire !! They got better with every entry. After that i completely lost excitement for it & started playing 2k
Because they had fun they let people live there dreams
The FIFA Street series was very populair outside the US. FIFA Street 2 was amazing, from the story to the ability to edit the playground and club name.
I saved my lunch money for weeks to buy Def Jam Vendetta. My Mom saw me playing and thought I actually stole it since she bought all my games. She actually took me back to the store and asked the workers at EB Games if I bought it. When they told her I did and looked at her like she was insane she never questioned me again.
Having my mom conspiratorially theorise that I'm stealing to the point of taking me to the store would have ruined my relationship with her for a bit.

My community is bringing it back, and you can play the retro games online. 🙏🏾💯
@@KiingMooGamingWhat's the place online you can play them at, will it run on mobile or you gotta have a PC?
I just miss when studios took risks. Games back then were very hit and miss, but when they were a hit, man they were phenomenal. There's a reason these games and games like The Simpsons Hit & Run are remembered fondly
Thats what sucks about games nowadays and why there is no experimental games. Games cost so much to make now and Dev’s only want to use existing franchise’s cause new concepts aren’t imaginative or sticking. Studios/companies are less willing to invest new/creative ideas as one major flop could bankrupt them these days in the current gaming landscape.
These kids have no clue what it was like to go to gamestop with your boys to collectively buy one of these games and then have to fight to see who gets to take it home for the 1st playing. Passing the case around to read the back and pamphlet inside. Whoever got to play the game 1st, the other person took the case home to look at and read until the switch was made. Sometimes, you had a double disc just for the music, like with nba Live. What a time to be a gamer 😥
Yup these kids today don’t know how we were even excited to get the manual in the game case that was a big deal we would look at the art and read it at school and going over to your friends house to play game with the kids in the neighborhood we went house to house and everyone had different consoles man great times!!
@@Ronin-kk4bt the best time in gaming ever.
Facts
Big facts. Kids these days are boring
Man I wish I could've did that with my "friends" back then, but nah people preferred to steal shit and act like they never had it
Countless hours spent playing NBA Street vol 2. One of the most enjoyable basketball games of all time. NFL Street and NFL Street 2 were other classics. EA really was on point with their games back in the day. Truly the best times to be a gamer.
EA is the true embodiment of the saying: you either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain.
NBA Street Vol 2 was the GOAT too many memories playing the game
You wasn’t seeing my stretch and bonafide dawg….. stop thisssss
The 🐐
EA Big era was a time to be alive. The amount of passion put into most those games is still unmatched to this day.
BIG was everything back in the day! I miss it... RIP
The downfall of EA shows just how much its important to stick to what your good at. Whats making you have the most success and not trying to change it up or become mainstream.
Amazing script you wrote here, plair plair. EA Big definitely fueled a LOT of my playing time in the early and mid 2000s. EA as a whole from 2000 to 2010 was a force to be reckoned with.
SSX Tricky was so fun and i'm not even big on sports like that.💫
EA Sports Big was just great and had so many classics. NBA and NFL Street, Def Jam Vendetta, Def Jam Fight for NY, SSX, SSX Tricky, FIFA Street, etc. Back when EA cared about making their games fun instead of money
They tried to bring back SSX in 2012 and y’all didn’t support it. And imo, that was the best one.
@@sosamanotf642I loved the series since the first one, but the reboot didn't appealed to me. Graphics wise, it was drab, the tracks were cool but to real looking (no spray painted jumps, no more light signs, no more tribunes) it was very much lacking in what made the series fun. So I bought it but regretted it.
You can now play the retro games online 💯🙏🏾 on PC. I play with my subscribers.
@sosamanotf642 that was the only one I ever owned
Forgot to mention NBA street homecourt
The streets series was amazing! NBA street vol 2 🔥🔥 so much fun
yea 🔥
Def Jam NBA Street and NFL street all need to come back. The amount of talent in all of these industries now days would make these games insane to play!
So many great memories from playing NBA street and NFL street all day. Man. Aweosme times.

Great video. I loved these games! My absolute favorite and the ones I have the most memories with is the NFL Street Series I miss it like crazy.
Aw man, I love watching these kinds of retro gaming history videos gamer. thank you bro. If it isn't to much to ask, can you, in the future, do more videos of short documentaries on the kinds of games that lead you to become the gamer2323?
It’s sad that this is considered to be retro now. Never thought I’d see the day.
Def Jam Fight for NY, SSX3, Sled storm, freekstyle and nba street vol.2 are still very much amazing in retro gaming terms. But back then when it came out I played these games for months on end every damn day. No wonder I had bad grades as a kid, because my big bro had a good taste in gaming but he had to work basically every day up to 16 hours a day so I had his PS2 always to myself . Good times indeed!
Finally watching this... Hit me right in the nostalgia 🔥 vid brotha
Thanks yo. This had me on memory lane
Never really got to experience NBA Street during that time. I was an NBA ballers guy myself back then. NBA Ballers Phenom🔥🔥🔥 But I remember playing Fifa street, NFL street 2 and Def Jam Fight for NY on PSP and SSX tricky on PS2. Those days were soo timeless. 😭
nba ballers was fun af too but that game wouldnt even exist if it wasn't for nba street
what i distinctly remember about SSX that really stood out to me was how long the runs were.. because it was like a racing game but without the laps, so a run felt like it went on forever... i remember being amazed at how long a track could be.. because car racing would be like 3 laps on the same track or something, but an SSX run would just be one long track, i remember thinking it was definitely something that was technically impressive and advanced... those SSX runs were so long the game dang near felt open world lol
racing all 3 peaks in ssx3 could take you close to 30m..that game was great
You are SO GOOD at these types of videos man!
Great work on the video! Those games was so fun. Wish a studio would make those types of games again.
appreciate the comment and most definitely
Outstanding video bro and this brought me straight back to my childhood. The first two NBA Street and Def Jam games were straight 🔥 🔥 🔥 I have no idea what the hell has happened to EA these days but I definitely am curious if they would ever consider reviving these franchises from the ashes. Probably not but we shall see lol
appreciate it bro. Nba street & def jam were some of the most pure fun video games we had the privilege of playing back in the day
SSX3 was so much fun! I swear if they had a remake i would probably play it again. Seriously lol EA Sports BIG was INDEED magical.
Na they need to make a REAL SSX4, it would be legendary
Oooooo Gamer giving a different type of video... i love this
Damnnn that’s some nice switch up of content Jeremy! Really like that
Man the things I’d do for an ssx tricky remaster or even a modern ssx game that actually feels like the classic ones. Spent countless hours playing those games growing up, I don’t think anything will ever truly match the style, music and technical yet arcade feeling gameplay from this era of EAbig games.
so many bangers man......tf happen to EA bruh😭😭
Greed smh
What a great video man. I rarely comment but unique throwback and very well made. Good times good times.
When “Reminisce Over You” plays, man 🔥🔥
I'd love a new NBA Street game. With the tech we have now, it can be 🔥
Agreed a new version but with updated graphics would be cool.
I Definitely Agree

Def Jam Vendetta and Def Jam Fight for NY were fire. All the AKI Corporation developed wrestling games were. Their director Geta-san just worked on AEW Fight Forever.

This truly was the golden era of gaming. So many great consoles with actual great gameplay offline. You got a great game back then
I definitely miss those NBA Street joints, I wish they definitely would bring that back into the fold. 😢
Same Here
Love this kind of videos looking for to more of these
Def jam still has tournaments til this day !
I saw clips of that recently. I couldnt BELIEVE it lol
It's a legitimately good fighting game.
I would like to see these games make a return, but I just can't help but think that EA might ruin them. Like some remasters, or remakes, or reboots, or new sequels would be nice with character customization and online multiplayer. Another game I would like to see make a comeback is Fight Night, like I really love that game growing up. And I know that it's know part of EA's big division but I'd bring it up since we're basically taking about EA games that were good back in the day, in the golden era of gaming.
You can play Retro games online on a Gaming PC. I play online with all of my subscribers, and show them how to do it. 🙏🏾💯📈
Great Video My Good Brother! I actually bought a PS2 during Covid 2020. I went a purchased The Def Jam Series, Street Basketball & Football series as well! Multi-Tap & 4 controllers 😎
Really good video put together!
Thank you :)
Fifa Street 2 was my go-to EA Sports Big Game and my first. Was loads of fun then. Wouldn't mind playing it again today.
However, it seems that with time, the subsequent entries in the series started losing their "magic". So I truly get what you said in the video.
Thanks for the nostalgic trip man🔥.
just buy a ps2 and the game I still play it.
@@TheoOJamaloO1 I still have both my slim PS2 and the game.
NBA Street Vol. 2 is the greatest basketball video game ever made. Surpassed NBA Jam and any NBA 2K game for me. Played it for 500+ hours.

Great video, you get a sub! Keep up the good work.
New to the channel. The production value in your video was impressive. Can't wait to dog deeper into your material. I'm all about bringing back Def Jam with the new cast of artists but unlockables like Tupac and Biggie and Eminem.
A lot of people in the comments are heavily misinformed. These publishers change views depending on the CEO. John Rico didn’t want to keep doing the BIG games because he wanted to use that budget to expand on original Ips, that’s how we got
Mirrors Edge
Dead Space
Dragon Age
Mass Effect
They had an SSX passion project in 2012, that y’all did not support btw. Which is the same thing that would happen today. Y’all don’t support these types of games.
You spittin facts. Finally someone who understands that EA is not an entity, whoever is on top is calling the shots and shifting the culture.
The NFL Street 2 intro is absolutely LEGENDARY where you space out thinking you're in the NFL and the Jeremy freaking Shockey yells at you to get you outta la la land
The all courses continuous run in SSX3 was as groove as video games get. The hypnotic soundtrack and silky gameplay boyyy... All these damn games. Had all of them. Loved all of them.
10/10 video love to see more deep dives like this 👀🔥
Great video! Ea big was one of my favorites back in the day wish ssx could come back but i know it wouldn't be the same. Could be wrong but who knows.

Great video...great video.
Ahh, nostalgia. I was blown away by the first SSX and played it religiously when I first got my PS2. Then, SSX 3 was my jam. Go to the top of the mountain on freestyle mode, whack on a great album and bust out some sick tricks...Great video, man.
SSX 3 was one of the most fun video games at that time. Used to play that junk ALL THE TIME
I used to play it when I should've been studying for my exams at the time....that was how good it was!
Looks like you should be doing more retrospectives
You're so right when you said def jam brought many kind of people around and not just hip hop fans.
I remember playing it hour on end with my friend around 2005, and we were huge metalheads. We didn't knew most of the game's cast but it didn't affect the fun we had.
And on another note, I see a trend with big publishers like EA, they sometimes strike gold with a developper, or a game, and doesn't seem to understand the importance of not making it a yearly release.
I'm pretty sure these kind of games could still work today.
Spent so many countless hours on EA Big it’s ridiculous. Now I have nothing to show but hurtful memories 😢
