  • In this episode we visit Lakes Entrance with our dog Chino.
    We visit:
    1. Prime Tourist Park Adults Only & Pet Friendly
    2. Entrance Walk
    3. Lonsdale Eco Cruise
    4. Foreshore Market
    5. Raymond Island
    6. Brackenbush Unleased Dog Park
    7. Eastern Beach
Prime Tourist Park Adults Only & Pet Friendly.
Prime Tourist Park, the excellent location offers easy access to all the attractions the area has to offer.
They are the first caravan park in Victoria to provide an adult-only oasis for those looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday with their pets, and without Permanents or Annuals.
    Entrance Walk.
A gorgeous walk along the shores of Lake Cunningham, to the actual Entrance of the Gippsland Lakes. Always seals and or dolphins frolicking in the tidal pulls at the Entrance.
This is an amazing, short and easy walk. Perfect for a morning stroll or an early evening wander. Cross the Footbridge, then turn right immediately. The walk is signposted at this point.
Many seals love to hang around this point, catching fish on the incoming and outgoing tides. Very scenic spot.
You can walk back along the track or walk back along the beach, until you arrive at the Surf Lifesaving Lookout tower. That takes you back across the Footbridge.
Many of the old houses along the Lake are still in excellent condition and are privately owned, so please respect their privacy.
    Lonsdale Eco Cruise.
A great casual cruise through the Gippsland Lakes with an expert commentary from your Captain, onboard the historic Lonsdale. Enjoy afternoon tea on-board the Lonsdale Eco Cruise. Choose from tea, coffee and a feast of freshly baked scones with jam and cream. Mel, your Hostess, bakes the scones in the Lonsdale’s galley, during your cruise.
Lonsdale History. Originally built in 1974 as a Sorrento-Queenscliffe ferry she was decommissioned and moved to Lakes as a commercial fishing boat in 1980. She then moved up to Darwin as a dive boat - or that was the plan. She actually became a drug and gun runner until the law caught up with her. Ian and Tony found her rotting in Cairns and brought her back home to rebuild her into the wonderful charter boat she is today.
    Foreshore Market.
Lakes Entrance Surf Club Foreshore Market at the rotunda, near the footbridge 1st Sun of month 9am-3pm. Shop & support local, art, crafts, produce, flowers. Wander the many stalls and choose from a range of hand made and local products ideal for souvenirs and gifts plus food, plants, coffee, fishing gear, pet clothes, jewelry and much, much, more.
    Raymond Island.
The 5 minute ferry to Raymond Island departs Paynesville regularly and is free for pedestrians or those arriving by bike. Expect to find all your favourite furry, feathered and spiky friends across the island. The massive koala population thrives here thanks to the safety of the island.
The island also supports an abundance of kangaroos, echidnas and native birds. Take the 1.2km Koala Walk departing from the Ferry Park. Follow the signs, and don’t forget to look up. Bike hire is available from Ride the Koalas on the island, just behind Ferry Park. Two and four seat bikes are available.
    Brackenbush Unleased Dog Park.
Brackenbush Unleashed is a place where you and your four-legged friend can play in the beautiful bush setting or even enjoy a walk out the back gate in the Colquhoun State Forest.
It also has barrels filled with rainwater and ample shade from large ironbark trees and other mature trees.
Brackenbush Unleashed was founded by a Victoria State Government grant through a funding round known as Pick My Project.
Located on private rural property, Brackenbush Unleashed is a free to use park. The three different sections each have a different experience waiting for you:
    Hills ‘n’ Hollows
    Walk in Nature
    Nervous Nellie Area
