Amazing Point Gibbon Campground, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.
In this episode we visit Point Gibbon in Port Gibbon, South Australia.
The Point Gibbon Campground, located at the heart of the Eyre Peninsula coast, features 15 designated, bookable sites.
The campsite is fully equipped with toilets and with Wi-Fi is available on.
The road from Port Gibbon to Point Gibbon Campground is part bitumen, then finishes with 5kms on dirt road.
While the campground is unpowered, the site is located nearby to all the necessities. There is a dump point, water, coin operated showers, boat ramp and playground at Port Gibbon just 5kms away. Cowell is approx. 25kms away, with all services needed (IGA, fuel, pubs etc).
For only $10 per night, the campground is a bargain considering the location, surrounded by white sands, pristine waters, and untouched bushland as far as the eye can see.
Port Gibbon is located on the east coast of Eyre Peninsula about 208 kilometres north-west of Adelaide.
Port Gibbon began as a town surveyed in 1916 and whose name was derived from Captain J H Gibbon who was the “Senior Nautical Warden of the (South Australian) Marine Board.” Following lobbying of the state government by local residents, a jetty and an associated cutting in the adjoining cliff line were constructed in 1915 to replace a pair of chutes installed by private companies used to move bags of grain to the beach for loading onto small boats for conveyance to larger vessel anchored off the coastline. It operated as a commercial facility until 1950 and as of 2005, had been demolished with the exception of a section on the beach which is used as a shelter. Boundaries for the locality were created in 1998 and include both the Port Gibbon shack site and the Government Town of Port Gibbon.
Port Gibbon consists of land on the coastline with Spencer Gulf which extends from a headland called Point Gibbon (formerly Point Price) in the south for a distance of about 5 kilometres along the southern end of an unnamed bay whose northern end terminates at a headland called The Knob in the adjoining locality of Cowell. The coastline consists of a series of beaches backing onto a cliff line of “red bluffs composed of Pleistocene alluvium” with heights up to 10 metres.
Footage was taken on a Samsung S24 Ultra Note 10 Plus. Drone Footage was taken with a DJI Air 3.

Cute ❤
Hi guys can I park my car in low ground and walk up to the top of the waterfall ?
Hi Hunter, you can take the Tree Fern Gully Trail, its a 3.4km one way walk from the heart of town to the base of Steavenson Falls, or an easy 700metre walk from the Steavenson Falls carpark. 👍
@@antonio_travels is it steep road on the way to the car park
@@huntertide5388 it's uphill, but easy drive.
Awesome street art ❤
Thank you so much 😀
The pose repeat got me
Ha ha, funny 😁
Really enjoyed your vlog at Bright, Victoria but a little bit of commentary would help. Do you guys have any other videos to watch 😮
Hi Craig, we certainly do, check out our channel for any that may interest you. youtube.com/@antonio_travels
Great editing on this one Antonio. What a beautiful place to visit. Loved the drone footage. First Like and First to view your adventure....YEAH!
Thanks JoJo. 😀
Sick I’ve been there recently
@@Rumasteryt yeah it's a pretty amazing spot. 👍
Gorgeous ❤
Great watch guys. Whyalla has come a long way since I visited back in 1981.
Thanks Brett. 😀👍 Gee 40 years ago, lots would have changed.
Yes the crime rate is out of control and we now have half the town on ice certainly has changed
@@FTY13 wow, didn't notice any of that whilst we were there.
@@antonio_travels I've only been here 6 years but had a bit of a rough time with the drug addicts . Certainly lots of amazing things to look at but I wouldn't suggest anybody moving here lol
Ha, good point. It's a shame though that it's like that in many regional towns.
Crystal clear waters ❤
It's a beautiful spot, as is most of Eyre Peninsula.
In case you missed it, the flys were shocking.
They can be so bad on some days, especially if there is no wind.
Great adventure and exploration of Tumby Bay, loved it. First Like. Yeah!
Thanks Jojo. 😀👍
Are dogs allowed on the walks??
Hi Sharon, unfortunately not on most of these as they are Reserves.
how can i contact with you?
Great Video!
😀👍
love your videos what breed is Chino? we have a chocolate toy poodle with similar white patches he is sooo very cute
Thanks Michelle, Chino is a Cavoodle. He's such a good boy, we love him too death! 😀👍
Oh shit! You dropped your Camera! Hope you can get it repaired. eeek! Bees! The views are awesome as are the beaches. No Cake, No wedding Just a rock You call them Rabbit's ears, i call them Pussy's Willow. Thank you for taking us along Antonio and Bernadette. Have a good week.
Yeah, tripped in a shallow rock pool, camera and gimbal are both gonski! Was litterly a split second but enough to kill them. I actually know them as Bunny Tails. 😀👍
@@antonio_travels will you invest in a new camera and gimbal?
@@CowboyJojosAdventures I bought a DJI Action 4. No need for a gimbal and much smaller in size. Only downside is they don't have a zoom.
@@antonio_travels neither does a GoPro have a descent zoom. That why I have a cam
Yeah I may go back to a zv1 in the future for that reason.
Good one
😀👍
Love your Chino! Thanks guys 😊
Thanks Jane! He's such a good boy! 😃
Oh my Gosh.was there some 35 years ago on a teaching assignment. Got to go to these spots again as I was too busy with schoolwork and driving to Ceduna on weekends. This time I'll spend it more conscientiously and thoroughly. One corner pub back then. How many now? How about the school? Has it turned to a university? (He he he). Kind regards to Mr and Mrs Jane Needle, Mr McLean ,wife and lovely daughters ,one of whom was in my class at yr 10. I think her father, upon evaluation wasn't too impressed with her rate of learning ,or was it he was not impressed with my delivery of French and science. ....am ol'joke by one of my students that took me some time to catch on. Now I've put it on the backburner. "Which planet has rings around it?".... By a "Tim" whom I might have scared him about going to prison. Well Tim, I've been there now, against my fault (it was "her"). Nonetheless I reckon footy was best with the "Hammer family,Nick and Ben?.and Annalise who was SRC and did have a boyfriend. Mr Shelton,Mr Longbottom,Mr Scholz ,, Mr Schofield,"Budgie" (who must have cursed me for denying him a goal. I miss you,we're grownups now and hope to have a beer sometime. Cheerio. ⚔️🌹✝️🕎🧑🎓💖😁🤣
Hi Mirella, sounds like you have some great memories of your time there. You must go back some day and revist the area. 😀
All good I was commenting as you said at the start of the video it would be around 6 to 7 hours, I was just wondering if it did take that long
Hi Deb, looking back at my Stava, 7hrs for the Southern and 9hrs for the Northern circuit.
Thanks heaps for sharing your video, I've wanted to do this hike for a long time but was put off by others saying it was a very hard hike, I did it yesterday and I loved it, I watched your Southern Circuit one as well, I think I may wait awhile before I do that one lol but it looks great.
@@debs_hiking_journey that's fantastic, glad you enjoyed the hike. 😀👍
Our great grandfather died near Farina while droving sheep and alone. The death registration of William Heyward McKinlay records he was about 56 yrs of age when he died 14 August 1914 of heart failure near Higgins Dam about 17 km east of Farina, but his usual residence was Tilcha Station. Occupation station stockman, born in Victoria. He is not recorded as buried at Tilcha Station nor at Farina and was probably buried near Higgins Dam. Has anyone seen his grave?
Wow, great that you could research that information. Good luck in finding his grave.
Great Fur Seals. 40 bucks was a little steep! Great costal views. Great adventure. Hope you have had a good weekend.
Was a little steep, but worth the views and adventure. 😀👍
Your videos have helped me in so many ways.
Thanks Violet, that's great to hear 😀👍
isn't illegal to feed pelicans
Apparently only in Western Australia.
Also achieved it in 1 day 😅absolutely loved the experience 😍 Thank you enjoyed and subscribed 👏
Great to hear, thank you. 😀👍
Awesome, Loved all the kangaroos 🦘 Some great views along the way. Another wonderful adventure ❤😊👍🏽🙏🏽
Thanks Jojo 😁 👍
Thanks for nice sharing my friend 9:12
Thank You Ami. 😃
Going soon, looks fantastic
Great spot and some of the other walks might also be open during the cooler months . 😀👍
Innes national Park and the southern coast of the Yorke Peninsula are the hidden gems.
Lot of beautiful places.
Hey Guys! that was an excellent video and show SO much of KI that I never knew existed!!! Well done! I really appreciate you putting that video together. When I have time I'll check out some more of your videos. P.S. JFI, the music is to loud when you are talking. And also when you're not talking it goes even louder. I had to keep reducing the volume and then boosting it back up again throughout the video. It was only a minor annoyance, but I thought it worth mentioning as once you fix this issue in future videos, you vlogs will be 1st class!!! Cheers.
Thanks for the feedback 😀
Exceptionnal inspired and talented visual production. Fantastic visit and discover. Big big like!
Thank you Olivier! Cheers! 😀👍
Your video is extraordinary! Full of historical stories and amazing scenery. I loved ❤ it!
Thanks mate! 😁👍
Why didn't you include some commentary of exactly where you were
Great work! Your choice of music was perfect.
Thanks DroogVoom. 😀👍
Awesome video! very close to the Dolphins!
Ha, awesome! 😀👍
Did that some years ago and yep its a great walk away from the crowds 👍
Yeah, less well known hike, but great views from the top.
awesome seeing the Dolphins, I would of been in my elements. Great Lighthouse and gorgeous little white cottages. Great walk through the ship. Thank you for the snap shot of Whyalla.
Thanks, Cowboy JoJo, appreciate your comments. 😀👍
0:34 A green anaconda coexisting with a python (probably due to pattern like that) in one enclosure?
Signal Prospecting released an awesome gold map of Whroo last year. Such an amazing area. Cheers.
Thanks I'll have to check it out! 😀👍
The main thing ive learned about Ned Kelly is theres 26 million people in Australia and 6 million of them are related to him 😄
🤣
So there's a chance any one could be related to him and not know it 😂😂😂
Mate just discovered your chant here and honestly so very impressed with your commentary and tour guide of such professional qualities and standard I simply had to subscribe and like to keep up with any more of your episodes congratulations on such a superb job 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
