This was done in 1992. Monty did a number of commercials for the game and two infomercials for it. The company who ran the game hired Monty do to the promos for it, and the company got in trouble later when it was found out that some players did not get the prizes they were said to have "won" on the game.

Since Monty was more than the host and actually owned the show, it was more than just them "hiring him." He would have licensed the rights to this 900 number outfit. This would have made him more complicit than just had he been hired.

I would watch this every night in bed at the end of the night spring-summer '92. I had to watch it or my night wasn't complete. I was 13 at the time lol

I wonder why TPIR never did infomercials, like that

Dean Goss wore a Mickey Mouse sweater in a clip from a 1985-86 season episode.

Good find...now, can someone find the Press Your Luck phone game that was apparently advertised on USA (with PYL reruns of course)?

This was really neat! There are a lot of clips from the 1985-1986 season that hasn't been broadcast in 20 years. 19:01 and 19:20 were from the same episode! They were during the Big Deal segment of this episode -> czcams.com/video/TODGs4KcOqE/video.html
