  • A juror who deliberated on whether YNW Melly was guilty of murdering his two friends broke their silence just two weeks after the judge declared a mistrial in the rapper’s double murder case. The former juror detailed how the jury became deadlocked after more than 14 hours of deliberations full of chaos, yelling, and anger. The Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy breaks down how many jurors thought Melly was guilty and why the jury could not reach a decision.

They might not have been thrown out seeing as a juror who allegedly had an Apple Watch was not thrown out.
I think the jury was biased both ways.
There appeared to be enough circumstantial evidence to make Jamel appear guilty. But there was no hard evidence, no motive and no proof that he is guilty.
That’s the problem, that fact that the majority of the jury could be swayed to a definitive guilty verdict in the absence of hard evidence and proof beyond a shadow of a doubt shows that there was latent bias already present (no I am not a Melly fan).
The reality is even if we all know Melly is guilty that isn’t the legal standard which the court uses as a basis for conviction. The system is reliant on the jury to comply with the legal standard for conviction. However, people have their own motives, vendettas and biases clouding their judgement.
Melly by no means looks innocent. If it were down to the public vote he would probably be found guilty. But still there’s doubts to be had. Because the prosecution was flawed, their tactics were underhanded, some of their witnesses had issues, the ‘gang expert’ violated Jamel’s right to see the face of his accuser by hiding under a balaclava, the prosecution has been accused of threatening, bullying and harassing a number of their witnesses into taking the stand and testifying against Melly when they otherwise wouldn’t have.
      They lacked solid evidence.

There are hundreds of reasonable doubts in this case and absolutely no definitive evidence that he did it. No video, DNA, or even a motive. He doesn't need to prove himself innocent. Court isn't supposed to be who you feel like most likely did it or if they most likely did it. It has to be without any single possible doubt. Just the fact there is no hard evidence showing he shot the gun is a reasonable enough doubt to say it's possible he didn't do it. Only a smooth brain who is so ignorant they should rissapear would say that he did it without any single doubt. I'm open to hearing your argument here, but I've seen way more people biased against him than for him. I don't see how any semi intelligent person could say he should be found guilty in court. Even if he most likely did it and you feel like he did it for sure, we still need to uphold our laws and rights for everyone. People get very upset when they do not hear the outcome they are expecting but do not understand that they are coming from the perspective of their homes, watching coverage on TV with experts commentary, with the ability to Google, with the influence of perspective of others discussing the case. The jury is instructed to go off ONLY the evidence. I don't think the investigators nor the prosecution did a good job whatsoever of making and presenting their case. I do not blame the juror for having questions or sticking to their opinion, everyone is not always going to see things the same way.. thats why we have juries in the first place! It makes the eventual conviction or acquittal less questionable, or less biased. If an agreement cannot be reached, neither outcome is the right one. I feel like if they did come back with a guilty verdict, it would be more on an emotional or instinctual grounds than based solely on the evidence. Which is their instruction by the court. That is in my opinion the fault of a poor investigation that was too easy for the defense to bring into question, as well as the prosecution for not doing a good job efficiently presenting or explaining the extremely compelling evidence they actually did have. If those men do not recieve justice it is on the hands of whoever put the case in incompetent hands. It probably SHOULD have been open and shut, but they fumbled it.. and the defense did a good job of using that to their advantage to create reasonable doubt

In a deliberation there are conversations as they work through the evidence. You cannot expect for everyone to have the same conclusion at the end of deliberation versus when they started. With that being said, what I got from this was 1 very stubborn outspoken juror was able to point out certain pot holes in the evidence and sway 2 other jurors if reasonable doubt. This my friend is a 9 - 3 at the end of the day. All it takes is 1 juror to bring up a convincing analysis based on what they have seen. I personally believe that he did it, but I simultaneously don't think the prosecution proved it beyond a reasonable doubt. I believe the evidence was not as good as it ideally should/could have been, but more than that I think that the right lawyer could have gotten the conviction with what they have. though with the evidence alone I do think they did prove that whoever was in the backseat is the shooter... but I don't think objectively that they proved beyond a reasonable doubt that HE was the person in the backseat. Why are people so angry at the jurors? A Jury is to decide individually with a goal of a unanimous decision as a group. If one is to just go with the flow of others, then a jury would consist of one person. Not everyone being tried is guilty and not every jury makes the right decision. I applaud them for thinking for themselves and standing by their decision to not be swayed by the majority of other jurors. A lot of innocent people go to prison because a juror with a thought different than the majority of jurors are afraid to go against the majority and let others think for them.

  • @spencersmithkelseeyyyuudun5778

Jurors were not and are not supposed to have knowledge on the case. This is the courts error on the jury selection they had chosen and by this happeneing it is more reason for mellys lawyers to push for a dismissal and to clear their clients record of any murder charges. The courts have a jury and juror who is knowledgable of the case and unprofessional and showing aggressive violent outbursts and behavior and this is the courts selection of jurors. This is just a joke coming from the state and judge murphy is sitting back allowing this all to go on in his courtroom, what a judge. I wouldnt be allowing this to go on in my courtroom if i was the judge and with how much tampering and botched holes there is in this case coming from the prosecutor and detectives and including the jury i would have dismissed it before the emberassment of the jurors all of them not just the one as the others were acting the same way and yelling and screaming and fighting back so they are all in the same boat not just the one lady they wanted to single out. It takes two or more to fight... and the jurors should not be stalking mellys moms posts during deliberation. This is illegal coming from the state... and classifies for the motion of a dismissal due to the courts multiple errors and unprofessionalism. Jurors should also not be making comments back in response to mellys mothers shared social media posts. If i was adelstein i would make a motion for a dismissal due to this shenanigans. -YuuDunno

😂11 of them said he was guilty only 1 had a an issue with the police department period so no matter what, she wasn’t going to find him guilty as it was stated by her on day 1 of the trial.
Nobody on this earth is railroading Melly, we didn’t put the gun in his hand or tell him to kill his friends like that so stop putting his fault on everyone but him.
Be a fan that’s fine but don’t 🧢 like we did this to him. He put hisself in this situation & regardless of court or jail he gone have to answer to God about what he done.
No accountability from him or his fans which is sick. It’s okay for him to kill people but what about them men families, they mothers & fathers? They siblings?
Y’all think everything is a joke until it’s your family member that’s been murdered & now you want justice.
A lot of us including myself who lost a brother last year know how it feels.
