    So weird. Just saw a video on IG of a stunning looking super bee before watching yours. Sooo jealous now.
    Good luck Paul. Can't wait to see the final result.

    Nice one. Love that car. Quirkiest kit so far? The MOD Ford race team with the pick-up, trailer and the lovely mini racer from AMT. Old dog of a kit - like the old AMT- but if you like the subject you'll fight through.

    Nice review. Love the AMT Chrysler/ Dodge kits. They always seem to have extra motor and parts.

  • @richardthomasscalemodelwor3139

    Hi Sir, You're welcome. Glad you got the kit ok. Looking forward to seeing it built. Regarding your question near the end of the video, has to be the AMC Gremlin X (I think its a AMC). I'd like to get a kit of one.

    The correct color is Plum Crazy Purple if you are going for the color on the box. The cross ram intake manifold with the two four barrel carbs is incorrect , if doing the 426 Hemi use the intake manifold that has the carbs set up. Back to back, the cross ram manifolds were either the 413 cubic inch or the 426 Max Wedge which where not an option on this car and we’re engines from the early 60’s

    Plymouth Roadrunner weird looking with that tall wing. Great review

    I completed the AMT 1969 Plymouth GTX in 2020 (having started it 15-20 years earlier). In real life the Plymouth and Dodge were closely related and shared some parts, which is also true of the kits as I recognised some of the parts. The biggest challenge as I remember was getting the alignment right on the front subframe, floor, bulkhead and inner wings. Another tip (if you want) is that these cars were not painted underneath, apart from a bit of overspray at the edges, the floor was usually just covered in primer.
    As for quirky, ugly yet appealing cars; I like all sorts. Citroen Ami, Fiat 130 (saloon), various Bristols.

  • @stevekelly8648

    I think one of the earlier commenters made this point but this kit’s origins were from the 1968 AMT Roadrunner kit. That kit was modified to a pro-street and then later to a 1969 GTX. (I believe there was also a convertible version of the 1969 as well.). The fact that this basic tool was modified into as many as 5 variants explains the Hemi and 440 parts along with the various pro-street bits. Much later the body, and interior were repurposed from the old MPC annual which may have been more of a promo style kit. Because the real cars were based upon the same basic chassis in theory this works for the kit but there are issues with fitting the body over the chassis. (As the original intent of the tooling was the 68 Plymouth.)

    Looks like you have some Hemi rocker covers with that kit (the plug wires enter the center of the covers at the dimples which were rubber) hopefully you've a complete engine as the Hemi's were legendary. Looks like you've got a very nice and unique cross ram intake as well (maybe consider displaying without the air cleaner so you can see it ? ) oh....almost forgot....is that a pistol grip shifter ??? again, legendary.

    Tucker Torpedo,they made a movie about the car & designer played by Jeff Bridges back in the 80's but I'm not sure if there are any scale model kits of it though?,or the Ford Edsel from the late 50's,AMT does do a kit of that car though,this will be an awesome build Paul,looking forward to it,cheers

    The AMT/Ertl years were the good ones. Those seem to be the high point for AMT quality of fit and finish. For my MPC '69 Plymouth Barracuda, I scanned the decal sheet and redid them in Adobe Illustrator. I sent the file to IndyCals for printing. They came out nice (including white). His minimum charge is $20 US then based off inches printed after that.

    Looks a good kit bud. Some AMT kits fall together. And some are more flash than parts. Lol. I don’t know why but I like the gremlin or the El Camino ( would love to find a 59 - super rare).

  • @hanomag251
    @hanomag251 Před 2 lety

    AMT kits are basically good subjects but the fit of the parts is sometime, a big problem. The chrome is generally very thick. You will encounter problems but nothing impossible to overcome.

    They also did a pro street version with a tubbed rear and a bigger engine. Seems this has a mix of those parts.

  • @MadGeniusProductions_MGP

    Can't wait to see you build this one up. It's an over all good kit, just be mindful of the front lower valence, it can be a bit wonky to get on. Cheers

    • @InternationalScaleModeller
      @InternationalScaleModeller  Před 2 lety +1

      Cheers buddy were you able to assemble all the bodywork to paint ad still get over the chassis etc ?

    • @MadGeniusProductions_MGP
      @MadGeniusProductions_MGP Před 2 lety

      @@InternationalScaleModeller The back bumper is left off until the end (of course haha) and so the only other bodywork that goes on it would be that front lower valence....and that's where the problem comes in because you can't put it on before and it just doesn't quite seem to fit after ward. I have no doubt though with your skill s that you will figure it out.
      My trouble spots were the hood sinking too low in, the masking of the front grill (because you need to paint that middle part body color) and then that valence :)

    Caught a rare morning show, since I am a late riser in Minnesota...-.18 F Lots of hockey going on. Nice kit as far as AMT goes.....what do you use to glue tires to rims?

  • @MrModelworx
    @MrModelworx Před 2 lety

    One of the best looking Dodge muscle cars to me that front end is angry!
    Couple thing to note when building this one, this kit is a bit of a mish mash, the body and glass are from the original MPC 1970 annual kit, then AMT updated it with a new chassis, engine and interior with the issue you have. (I have the exact same kit)
    You have to cut the side vent glass on the windscreen unit so the interior fits properly and also the rear suspension sits way too low out of the box, the bonnet needs a bit of filling because that cut out on the reverse likes to show itself after paint!.
    It also shares some parts with the Plymouth Roadrunner/GTX kits so you will have some bits left over.
    Apart from that it's a nice kit for an AMT.
    As for quirky looking US cars... I really like the 1962 Dodge Dart which is just so fantastically ugly yet fascinating at the same time.

    • @InternationalScaleModeller
      @InternationalScaleModeller  Před 2 lety +1

    • @MrModelworx
      @MrModelworx Před 2 lety

      @@InternationalScaleModeller the lower front valance is best left off until the end, forgot that bit! 🤦‍♂️.
      But you can fit the rear panel before paint.
      You'll suss it out mate just don't throw it over your shoulder 🤣

    Hopefully it goes together well for you it's always hit or miss with those older AMT kits. Quirky car I like but is ugly I have to say either like the 1958 Edsel or people either love or hate it the good old Studebaker Starlight.
