This new Player series is a success for @fender Rosewood is back, rounded edges on the fretboard, Kluson tuners, new colors... It's really nice. The Ensenada factory has raised the bar. But they could take into account some small details that are not minor:
The pickup covers, potentiometers and pickup selector look very similar to those of a '61 Strat, although it would have been nice to see a full mint green pickguard for the Strat and the other models.
A "Player Plus II" series is likely to be released in the near future, which should include sculpting at the junction of the body and neck for all models.

The colors the return of Rosewood ! Gosh if I had a reason to I’d so purchase one but I’m not unhappy with my trusty Player Strat in Sonic Red I believe it was called!!
It was a quickly discontinued color from the original run. I love it though!
I don’t hate Pau Ferro and saved up a ton to get CS 69 pickups in mine.
Well done Fender i’m sure that these will sell like absolute hotcakes given the return of Rosewood and if I had a reason to replace the one that I already have, I would certainly do so.

  • @macspectre
    @macspectre Před 18 dny

There's a lot to like about this revamp series, but there's so many things to be disappointed about, too. I mean, when I saw the jazzmaster in this series, I was incredibly excited because having a modern spec Jazzmaster with these new features, a rosewood fretboard, satin neck, and those new colors all at this price point was a dream come true. Come to find that they removed the rhythm circuit.. the signiture feature of the Jazzmaster. And they gave the Jaguar and Mustang the same treatment. Why? They're taking what makes the guitars unique out of the guitars. I know they talked about it being "contemporary".. but they have all these new vintage features and left the basics of the models out. Also, the lack of left-handed models just sucks. Theres almost no left-handed models available on their site anymore. I'm not personally a lefty, but I have friends who are, and it annoys me to no end.
The personal side of it for me is that I've REALLY wanted a proper Jazzmaster for a long time. But if I want the classic electronics setups, I either need to get a Squier or I have to break the bank and get a American Vintage series Jazzmaster. (nothing against Squier, I just prefer the Fender quality control and stuff) The Vintera II ones are okay, but have such limited finishes that I don't really like as much as many of Fender's others. They already did the stripped-down electronics with the American Performer series, and the American Proffesional would be worth the extra cash to get if the circuit wasn't completely replaced with the electronics for that line. I just want a basic Fender Jazzmaster with nice finishes at a the totally affordable price of this line. As this is the "entry level" to the Fender catalog, you'd think they would keep it classic and not mess with the formula. But again, that's my personal rant. I know many people don't care about the electronic compromises with these models, but I really just wish they would leave the affordable stuff without niche changes like this.
I'm just glad they didn't mess with the formula on the basses. Rant over.
I know Fender reads comments, because they leave likes on the ones that talk about how good everything is. But I've seen many comments on Fender's videos about this line with very similar concerns that aren't acknowledged at all. I hope they're reading these too.

So much empahsis on cosmetics. The good stuff, if done right, is rolled edges and satin poly neck finish. This gets them to where American Standards were, and there was nothing wrong with those guitars. The chambered Strats are intriguing, even if the reason is the weight of the ash they are using. These really do look good, and good value. Throw on a set of locking tuners and you should be ready to go.

Cool guitars but the colors are literally sickening, lol. If they came with the AM 2 pro colors they would've been amazing.

It Fender had created perfect MIM guitars with great features and best colors there would be considerably less people buying MIA Fender guitars.

And yet its another batch of fenders unavailable to left handed people. Like have fender forgotten that there are left handed people to begin with???

You know, despite being in the business for 70 odd years and us now a quarter of the way into the 21st century, you haven't made much progress where us LEFTIES are concerned, have you? I'm not even disappointed any more, I've come to expect it, which is a shame, considering who you are.

Sad to say, but you made your bed by learning it that way around in the first place. Every day left-handed folks like myself manage without issue to play so-called "right-handed guitar" and other instruments like piano/flute etc, which by the way for centuries now only come one way around and still no one seems to be bothered by that.

@@boomstand2872Yours is a very subjective opinion isn't it? I picked up a right handed guitar as a kid and it felt so wrong and unnatural there was no way I was ever going to learn anything on it.

Those beige pickups with the white pick guard just make it look too squier vibe for me.
