  • In this episode, I travel through southern Alberta and British Columbia, into Montana. Back in the 48 states for the first time in two months! The Jeep gets equipped with a new tailgate table, and I go on a hiking adventure with Cappy from 410 Expedition. I fall in love with Polebridge, and experience Bowman Lake in Glacier National Park. 9:57 Just revisiting old videos. I bought this table last year, based on your recommendation. I chose this one, over the others, because the magnets mean no pin holes to rattle and one hand operation. This table has proven itself completely rattle free and consistently useful. It holds groceries, a Coleman stove, morning coffee and even my tablet when I'm watching movies at night. I love this table and I wish more people knew about it. Mine does look a little different and sits a little lower, so I think that he is always improving the design. Oh, one more thing. Kootnai is pronounced KOOT-nee.

    Hi Chris, thanks for having me "with you" in Glacier National Park which I have seen 20 years ago. I remember a heavy thunderstorm after dark - thunder like someone hitting giant sheet metal plates with an oversize hammer - and after that a pack of wolfs howling for half an hour. Next day we unintendetly chased away a black bear in the woods .... so good to see this undisturbed alpine landscape again !

You are in bear/ mountain lion country. With the food in the jeep, I'm completely amazed you havent had issues and encounters. You are a brave man going on those hikes alone. Nice video ,Chris !
    Every Saturday morning it is always our Saturday morning family breakfast time ,we love it .
    But I se you sometimes struggle with loneliness...that hurts me , I am in the same stage of life like you and are building and preparing my trips an vehicle ,a old G wagon Mercedes from the army ,but I have trouble with the hole idea of traveling and leaving my kids and lovely wife .
    I am married and have to daughters,14 and 18...I was a independent industrial maintenance contractor for 30years now I am 48 and complete worn out sever arthritis,some prosthetic ligaments and had more than 30 surgical intervention due to broke vertebrae,hernia ,etc ,etc.
    I wanted to travel with my dearly at ore pension age ,but I am afraid that I will be disabled at that age so want to do it now ,but don’t like to hurt my family by beings whit out dad for periods of feu months ....
    I don’t no what to do ,somebody any advice ?
    Thanks for reading this out .
    Levistre hugues
    Keep rolling Chris we love it .

    • @jackcpo
      @jackcpo Před 5 lety +1

      Hugues, I am in a similar boat but the difference is I still love my job and have been doing it for 53 years and will miss it terribly . I will miss my sweet wife- who has no intention of camping or traveling with me- too much ,so I plan on traveling no more than 6-8 weeks at a time and then return home for a while to recharge and then if the road suits me go back out again.I too have medical issues as most 73 year olds do but I do not intend to let it stop me.I have a rooftop tent and some camping gear and will add to it as I can.
      Anyway my advice to you Sir is to try it for awhile to see if you like it. There is no law that says you have to commit to an extended journey or deny your self the joys of Family.
      By the way what G wagon do you have?

    • @hugueslevistre5519
      @hugueslevistre5519 Před 5 lety +1

      Jack O'Connor hello,
      Thanks for your advice and support, now I am from February at home due to a prosthetic wrist surgery .
      I was a blacksmith from my 14 year and started to work as independent smith until my 30’ ,al this hard work and overbearing of my body has resulted in this now .
      I am 48 y and had right shoulder surgery due to arthritis,also and elbow,and wrist.
      I am from February at home in illness leave my trouble started in 2008 and my body declined rapidly in these 10 y and my wife supports my idea to start traveling now and not at the age of my retirement,than I wouldn’t be Abel anymore.
      But it is the hole situation that troubles me ,we wanted to travel together whit my wife when we where at the age of retirement.
      I will not be able to work again for 14 a 16h a day ,it was al declining for to year and could only work on day and one day I was totally broke the next day ,the pain is to Much ,I have CRPS in my left foot and now since the last surgery in my right wrist also ,and on morphine since 2014 .thats makes al this histories so difficult.
      But anyway I keep working on my car and when they give me permission to start working again I will se what I will do with my business.
      The G wagon is in fact a old French sub version of the G wagon named a P4 Peugeot. I have a Facebook page g klass or p4 On Facebook you can find the restoration and the progress ,now it is in hold due to my problems .
      The Peugeot p4 is the car that the army use now ,I did drive these cars in the 90’ in my service time in a French army ,and always wanted one .
      I purchased one 4years ago and started the restoration ,the p4 is manufactured under the license of Mercedes in the panhard army manufacturing equipment company ,
      It is only a tree doors
      G wagon whit a indenord Peugeot engine of a Peugeot 504 a transmission off a Peugeot 304 and the rest is almost mercedes for 90% ,when I bought it I could choose from 10 pieces and choose one that served in Libanon in beyrouth form most of his life time so it was rust free,now I have changed the engine and transmission,back to a Mercedes again ,on the Facebook page you can see the progress .
      I thank you four you’re interested and advice and find it remarkable what you cane do at this age ,nice really 👍🏻.
      Hope you like the FB Page .
      Kind regards
      Hugues .

      I found your facebook page and your old truck looks good. I used to own a 1990 MB 250 German Army Wolf which I really liked a lot. I unfortunately had to sell it since my wife and I are downsizing and only wish to maintain two cars, her Lexus lx350 and my 2007 MB G55. Your health issues while painful and annoying are not life threatening so you should be able to function quite well camping and traveling. I presume you live in France, and Europe is so much smaller than the USA there is civilization always close by you should do fine. You are doing some very serious restoration work on your car and I just wish I could do work like that. I hope to see photos of your adventures soon.
