It's hitting me hard all over again just what a dreadful loss music has suffered. Esbjorn Svensson was a gentleman and a genius
Man, how much I miss Esbjorn and his music. He was really building a bridge between jazz and other worlds, and he was doing it in a great manner. He was really doing the best for the genre, trying to reach new territories. Don't get me wrong, jazz is always in safe hands, and always will be, but I miss this man musical point of view. Always, jazz has not great luck when we talk about persons who try to establish new connections between this great musical genre and others one (which they're also great!). Sad day when we lost him. Rip Esbjorn and thank you!
A curious question since i just discovered E.S.T. and learned about its sad death in one evening :( in what good hands is Jazz now? Got some tips for similar groups/ensembles? What i like about E.S.T or Avishai Cohen (Bass) is the mind bending openness to other styles while staying somewhat Jazz. Thank you!
