- Here are a couple beginner exercises for using the rattan ring or jook wan. Use these drills to help improve your Wing Chun.
I am a nomad traveling the US in my RV in search of new adventures. I started training Wing Chun in 1993 while I was in the Marine Corps. Since then I have trained under 2 Sifus. My first Sifu is Les Clements under the Moy Yat lineage. After only 2 years with him, I moved to Oregon & started training under Sifu David Leung in the Ho Luen lineage. While under the guidance of Sifu Leung, I have trained with several well know Kung Fu masters & have taught hundreds of students the art of Wing Chun. Join me as I give basic instruction in the fundamentals of Wing Chun.

Special thanks to my Sifu David Leung and my entire Kung Fu family

Sifu , That was Great 👍! I have a make shifted Rattan ring & tried ordering DVDs from Amazon, they don't have any available at this time, nearly got ripped off by ordering via eBay. Yours is the best of CZcams channels because you really keep things at a beginner's level. So my tutelage we'll begin with your exercise. Thank U Sifu 🙂🙏
I’m 3rd dan in karate, I watched this and found it fascinating, informative, I’m getting a ring, thankyou Sifu
I’ve been waiting for a series on the rattan ring for a while and here you pop up. Thank you so much for putting these together!!!
This has to be the only video that I have found that shows and experiences some ring exercises. Would you be able to upload a second beginner being exercise video?
Please upload another one. Thank you.

Most important techniques
Hello, I like your video a lot. You make the movements so that I understand it to some extent.
I just started ring training and copied your movements.
It takes time for my movements to be good.
I hope for more videos with the ring. 👍🤗
"*Great Salute Master*"

SUBBED
I bought the steel one since it won't end up being broken if I dropped it. Now I see why you use the rattan one first 😂
Been a very long time since I practiced, but I'm surprised how quickly I was able to follow and keep up. Excellent lesson
@ not a problem, I loved it
Great video looks cool I Think i gonna start watching your videos and folow your Channel. You do a great video and in slow speed. Could be cool i you dit a video course how to use the wooden dummy combine with the rings❤️🤘
@ this Maby Sound🤓 if you have anny chance to make 2-3 recording when you pratic in the gym it could be wery cool, when i pratic krav Maga in Denmark the teatcher stands with the back so we could se the right move, it just confuse ppl som time when the teatcher stand infront to ppl if you Can understand🤘💪 Bedst regards flemming Denmark
Do you have this video on Facebook so I can download it to my phone?
What’s the inch diameter of the ring you use?
What is the diameter of the ring in this video? 12"?
That was interés
i’m wondering if my ring sliding on my wrists is normal
Amazon has a nice collection of the rings for sale in all different price ranges and materials.
@ Me, too. Less than $12.00, lol
I want you to apply it to your opponent. How does the technique work 🙏
What is the recommended size
Who is your intertnal wing chun kung fu teacher
Which size has the ring?
Elbow work is important, as I see it. Is this???
🌝
Will I know how to fight when this is all over😁
@ then you have now gained a subscriber.
I dont know if it's the same name, but I seen this used as a weapon but with sharp edges
I got a metal one....a little painful on the bones at times.
@ mine is unfortunately not a large enough diameter to do some of these movements. I am a relatively large guy.
@@Catgat37 this was designed by 5,6 140ib men lol
You need a bit smaller ring
You don't really need a ring, all the wing chun guys I know, they never use a ring.
This is not designed for the Wing Chun system this was for the Southern Matis Style and Tai Chi. The way this is used goes against the principles that define Wing Chun.
What are the principles that define Wing Chun ?
@@MrStClair247 Be water..........
It’s 100% ok to borrow things from other systems. This is what Bruce Lee did and people practically worship him. I will counter your negative view with a positive please up load more.
@@wingchun88 I've seen rings in water before
Those won’t help improve your chi sao or your chain punches.
What exercises would you recommend to improve chi sao as well as chain punches ?
@@MrStClair247 chi sao and punching. Slow punching and natural punching. And for goodness sake make sure they are chain punches and not circle/bicycle punches.
@@KuenYauSumFot ,
Are there any videos on youtube that you know of which demonstrates the chain punch in the manner you're referring to ?
@@MrStClair247 the ones I’ve seen haven’t shown it. It’s always the damn circle punches.
@@KuenYauSumFot ,
In that case ......
Could you make a video demonstrating the chain punch as it should be applied ?
