Tried these this evening and felt great! I always wanted to ice skate so I started going to the rink near me on days off to learn. I always stretched when I dance but not nearly enough. I’ve been really out of shape and honestly have never been very flexible so I’ll keep trying this every day and hope it will help me! Tbh for anyone reading I’m a much larger person, about 240 pounds, but this is still doable. Wherever I can’t reach I go as far as I can and it’s still effective. So anyone saying they can’t do it just do your best!

@@Matt-tj9ni might not be possible now during covid, but once this is over look into public skate times at a local rink. I was often the only one there. And you’ll find many other people who go to public skate are just learning too so no one will judge. People who actually know how to skate are usually paying for the premium ice time haha

I’m anticipating getting back on the ice after months off it, I’m very much new to ice skating and would like to try figure skating just for fun, but I need to get over my main fears first which is falling and inflexibility. I am gonna have ice skating classes for begginners I know how to like get on the ice and skate but I don't think my feet are in the right position I loooooove skating I used to be in ballet but only for a bit of time cause I got lazy to do it every weekend and wake up early I know the classes are gonna be the same but i love skating so I think I won't quit this time lol😉

Haha yeah! I think flexibility can be measured in many ways and our bodies are all so different, just because someone can’t do a split, doesn’t mean they aren’t flexible because they maybe can do other things like lotus pose or Biellmann perfectly 😁 So glad you liked the video though and wish you all the best in your journey 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I recently developed the wish of trying out figure skating, even though I'm not very sportive and not really flexible but it just looks so cool and like you're free on the ice. Sadly I'm fifteen so I don't expect much and also I can't find like lessons at my local rink and that really broke me because even though I have an interest for once (haven't really done anything in my childhood so I wasted that time) and now that I want to try it I can't really do it. If I went on my own it would probably be packed and I don't really know what to do. But they only do lessons for children
Oh I also dance but only around winter and I also dream of getting my splits one day

It is taking longer and longer for me to loosen up before skating as I get older. My muscles are always tight. Any tips? I’ll give your stretching routine a try.
Be super super warm! To the point of sweating! That’s one option to try if you haven’t already 🙏
great workout it helps on my right side but in my left side i see no improvement and it hurts alot i cant even do that leg in 90 degrees

Heyy question...Is it normal that when i do this exercises i can be pretty flexible but the next day when i just casually stretch my leg im not that flexible at all?(for example raising my leg while i stand up,or just kick in the air softly)
Your probably not warmed up or your ligaments need a rest from being stretched so they aren't as flexible anymore

Are you doing stretches everyday? Sometimes it takes even a bigger push like doing stretches 2-3 times a day.

Hello, I'm Brazilian (so I live in Brazil, and here it only snows in VERY specific places very rarely), so ice skating for me would be very difficult, since my city doesn't have anything like that, and the closest city with Ice skating is more than a 2 hour drive if traffic is good. However, I've been completely in love with ice skating since I was little (literally since I started understanding things, I LOVE ice skating), so I don't want to give up. I skated once in my life, and it was magical. I never forgot that feeling. Since that time, I've been training at home, studying even more about skating and everything else. I hope that one day I will actually be able to skate like I always wanted. My parents don't really support me in this, but they don't stop me. I just need to prove to them that I really want this and that I can do it. My father said he might find a way for me to go ice skating there. I'm dreaming about this day and night, and I hope that everyone who dreams the same as me can achieve their goals. I will be rooting for you, please root for me. Thanks for listening❄️❤

For everyone who's feeling bad about their flexibility: I couldn't even do the first exercise, since I can't sit straight up if I have to sit with my legs straight on the ground. So my bow forward was like 135 degrees 😅

Yes of course, but the best would be afterwards because your body is super warmed up then! :)

i must remember NEVER TO PAIN. to hold the stretch for 10 seconds then try moving INTO stretch deeper and hold another 10 - 15 seconds. SLOW and steady. so many rips/tears pulls can happen just with an incorrect stretch routine. :) always WARM muscles before stretching too. stretching A COLD MUSCLE is ouch for a long time. soft tissue seems to never heal properly. scar tissue builds. i admire ballerinas stretch routines. and look what they put their muscles through. :)
When you don't even have to try to reach your feet when sitting with straight legs because it already hurts you know your need more flexibility 👁️👄👁️ (couldn't be me🌱🌱🌱🌱)

Stretches aren't supposed to hurt excessively if they are hurting a lot don't push yourself and do more simpler stretches or don't push yourself in these stretches as much as you are. You're only supposed to feel a stretch not excessive pain because you can overstretch which will result in you being less flexible
Hi there! You might be pushing yourself too much passed your limits, please listen to your body and please do as much as you can in this time, it will get better and you will improve and one day you can do it like me, but don't rush yourself, these things take time! Don't give up!!! 🥰🥰🥰
