Certainly, the ST 1300 is seriously underestimated. I have already driven several beautiful journeys with it without significant problems, my ST is from 2004 and now has 160,000 km on its counter.
I (and wife) love this bike so much! 😎 Greetz from Belgium. Stay Safe.
Just today I met a guy with a nice 03.
Nice video. You answered some good questions.
Not bad for just recording while driving it home from the seller
Great video. Moar test rides!
Agreed
Ride that bike brother! I love my ST1300. Great video!
Thanks man! You live around here (South Florida?)
@@AmenMoto I live in the DC area. I have riden my motorcycle in Florida many times.
I bought my ‘07 ST1300 the end of August and I already have 2k miles added to the odometer. Bought it more than 5500, but less than 6k with 45k miles on it. I still have my ‘98 5th gen Interceptor (781.7 cc) and I love me some gear-driven cams.
Nice ride. Shaft jacking is something common with older Japanese bikes. Looks like a great machine. Pretty sure that bike is Fuel Injected. It will never break.
ST = Speeding ticket. Lol. Love my 2005. Speedo on these runs about 10% over actual speed which prevents speeding tickets, Keep the rubber side down.
Looking at possibly getting one of these. Prices on used ones are dropping dramatically. There is a very active owners group in the US and most of them are still in love after many miles and years of ownership.
very cool
I'm on verge of getting new bike narrowed down to zzr1400 and st1300 and I can't decide!
I wish you kept trying to get the cruise control to work... great editing! Do you like the windshield?
Scott Lindroth it’s pretty great!
But I like feeling the wind.
Hey Batman, I picked mine up 3 weeks ago from original owner with just 31k Miles. Also an 05. Already changed the head lamps to LEDs just installed the helibars so it will be a more comfortable Ride.
Where did you find the LED headlights, thanks.
@@robertmacdonald2735 find out the number of your original light bulb and cross match it to lED light. Only 2 of the 3 flat prongs at the base of the light bulb match to the original, so what I did I clipped the one that was offset and installed it as normal. There is a guy that sells and has video for some kind of washer that you can use to upgrade to LED's but it is a waste of money. Just do what I recommended and you be fine. I did it on both st 1300 my 05 and 07. Tigh squeeze to get your hands behind the light bulbs so I hope you have tiny hands. 🙀🙀
@@SlingSuds Gracias amigo....
I just picked up a 2005 ST1300.. I agree with everything you say- except for the 1100 cc engine specs in the vid. :)
brain fart on my part.
I have a 2005, love it. Handles well, good fuel economy, powerful, fast, smooth. Mine has fuel injection. What's not to like? Why did Honda stop production?? :(
I think Pan weave had something to do with it. A policeman was killed on one after losing control due to it weaving uncontrolaby. A test rider was also seriously injured later whilst trying to find what caused the weave!
What were your thoughts on the mirrors? I know you have a preference for your mirrors.
They’re cool, Deb. 👍🏻
I have a question for you that little control panel right by the clutch that's lit up it is a cruise control am I correct? I ask because I have one on my St the guy told me it lights up but don't work and I checked it don't be nice if the wood is there a way ?????? If you will anybody knows let me in on it it'd be nice thanks
Yep, that's an aftermarket cruise control. It is vacuum actuated so there may be a vacuum line that is disconnected on yours. It connects under the gas tank. It's a big hassle to get to it but that may be the problem. Good luck!
👍
👍🏻👍🏻
The data what are shown about 2minutes+ is for ST1100 not ST1300
Thank you Goran!
Uniek, first night driving motorcycle test drive...
Not smart
Can you lane split on the ST1300?
Those side bags are pretty wide, so be careful if you do.
@@AmenMoto I thought the mirrors where the widest part of the bike?
@@danieljohansen8069 You might be right, they might be... but they're up higher and in front of you where you can see what they hit, the widest part of a sedan car is lower down by the bags
Just be careful
What year is it?
thats what i want to know too
The CTX is more of a cruiser then sportbike doesn't handle near as well as the St which handles well for a very heavy motorcycle but if Honda would not 40 or 50 lb off of the s t give it 10 more horsepower and or a sixth gear and style it a little more modern they would probably still be selling several more of them than the last iteration which is no longer being produced. Kawasakis and Yamahas entrants into this class are both lighter and more powerful, net-results they're significantly faster a serious diet alone would help the handling even more come on Honda just keep up
Imagine a modern ST, that would be epic.
Called the “Transalp” in Europe. It is/was used by police forces there as well. It wants to not cruise at 60-65 mph 🤣
That's very interesting, I had no idea. So it was a police bike? That explains a lot.
Yes in the UK police for sure. If you look at Adventure Rider Radio’s website and find the podcast featuring Warren Milner discussing the Africa Twin DCT - he explains Honda’s design philosophy in general. Warren worked in Honda’s R&D and retired as GM of Honda Canada.
Actually it was called the Pan European in Europe. The Transalp was a dual sport bike.
@@laurieberg2880 that guy have 4 videos...lol!!
Keith Harris - yes I was mistaken - Pan European
Deceptive torque. Gotta be careful because the delivery is so smooth you can easily get overconfident and give her the beans coming out of a corner and get her loose.
Very true, going into long sweeping turns can get you introuwde unless you slow down and do some trail braking
I don't think it has cruise which could explain your difficulties.
Aftermarket kit fitted to left bar buddy.
It had an aftermarket cruise control, which was broken. It's been removed :-D
This video is when we picked it up from the seller. Lots of things figured out since then.
Cheers!
Any issues with the weaving?
Ooh! Old video!
Jacob ended up selling this bike after about a year. It had a serious electrical problem that caused the bike, if run over 4000RPM for more than 10 seconds, to go into Limp Mode and run slowly until switched off/on.
There is talk about this problem on the internet but Jacob decided ultimately to just sell the bike and move on.
Thanks for your comment!
