Beating Elden Ring's DLC with ONLY Martial Arts

- Decided to do a challenge run using only the Martial Arts moveset from the DLC! I had viewers drop the weapons in Limgrave so I could also use them on the basegame, which was honestly quite strong. The new deflecting physick in the DLC might be my favorite item as well :D

Deflect and guard counter half the attacks, hyperarmor through the other half with Palm Blast. Absolute chad.
Wait, you can guard counter with the martial arts weapons?
@@avalokiteshvara113 you can guard counter with every weapon. And the DLC made it easier by getting you a deflect (timed guard) that lets you guard without taking damage.

@@kiwiiruna4800 pretty sure the dude thought deflecting was a normal function in the game and didn't know you can only deflect stuff if you drink a flask

I beat most of the DLC with that weapon. It was so fun. Smacking Messmer around with my fists was an experience I didnt know I needed. I abandoned them for the last boss though....

It's crazy to see the difficulty between the hardest base game bosses vs the average dlc boss
Was doing some co op and got summoned to base game after finishing the dlc. I was trying to pop a heal for the group and ate shit. I was like "fuck I'm dead," but then my character got up with plenty of health.
Malenia was the peak difficulty in base game. Rellana, 2nd dlc boss overtakes her 😂
Well, it depends on your build and experience. I played without summons for the first time so they were all pretty much the same to me. Because I had to learn the base game fights too, I just spammed Rock Sling while my Mimic tanked last year. People forget how much they have practiced the base game fights, that's why they feel easy. But if you take Scadu levels seriously, then the DLC is not harder. It is funnier though. And people have already found multiple ways to break it, perfumes and Greatshield pokes being 2. And none of the new bosses are harder than Malenia. Except maybe Radahn.
@@fishnutz5196 Malenia took me 6 hours and I was even lucky with RNG, she is basically as hard as Radahn the first time you fight her. But people forget how hard she used to feel, because of all the practice. Rellana was a joke in comparison, not even 10 tries. And the same goes for most of the others. The only real tests are Messmer, Bayle and Radahn. Unless you play with 0 Scadu levels. Or maybe my build was just too much of an easymode, Brass Shield and Serpent Hunter carried me through everything. I'm glad I didn't try a Greatshield because that would have made it too easy.
It's because we have had 2 years to learn the base game movesets. The dlc has only been out of a couple weeks
I like how instead of making a fancy new riposte animation for the martial arts, they kept the default animation where you just shove your fist inside their chest cavity

God I wish the the parry tear thing was a permanent game mechanic you could use. Obviously it couldn't be as strong then, it would be bonkers, but it's just so cool.

@@smegspreadermelina answers are there in messmers lore. Her and messmer are siblings of the first generation of demigods before even Godwyn. Siblings cursed like Malenia and Miquella as they are born from Marika and Radagon also. The abyssal serpent for Messmer and siblings that both have ties to the flame. Melina is the Gloam Eyed Queen and both her and Messmer have sealed eyes. This has huge lore implications as it means Radagon has been around longer than we realised as they most likely split in the same way Miquella split from St Trina. So yes this dlc confirmed ALOT about Melina. We already knew Melina was the GEQ from the Frenzy ending and wanting to return Destined Death to the lands, the dlc just confirms she broke her seal in that ending the same way Messmer broke his in the boss fight. Also if you go to Sharmans village (Marikas home) the incantation Minor Erdtree is stated to only be known by Marika, yet we see Melina using this exact spell in the fight against Morgott.

Not even gonna lie. The only way I’m making it through most bosses is with my mimic and +25 stone slab shield. I’m also at 11 scadutree blessing and 6 for my summons. For me the DLC is a challenge and I do think it’s hard but I’m not complaining. I’ve always had the impression that they’re meant to be hard. I had to learn to control my button presses and be very deliberate. I learned early on that you can’t be a button masher in souls games lol
nothing is hard in Elder Ring if you don't deliberately hinder yourself. Mimic still trivializes everything, even in the dlc.
This is my new favorite weapon in the entire souls series. There is some soooo satisfying with it

DLC was fun I beat most of it within the first two days, only really had trouble with the final boss which took me easily over 100 try’s to finally beat.
Funniest thing for me is, you can put blood affinity to them, meaning you can literally punch enemies so hard they'll spit blood.
moore only shows up after you convince him that life is worth living/to put it all behind (ironic)
freyja shows up after giving her ansbach’s letter, which is fitting since they’ll both meet each other on the battlefield
thiolier would never join leda and so wouldn’t ansbach since they serve different masters respectively
so the easiest way to do leda’s fight is probably to not talk to moore/convince him to… erm…, help leda with hornsent or help hornsent then off him at rauh, and to not talk to freyja. that way, only leda and dane show up i think
I actually didn’t know convincing Moore to move forward was the trigger for him appearing in the fight. Last time I’m ever being nice to a Fromsoft npc 😭

Fromsoft should really make those new weapon types available in the base game, It'd be so much fun to not having to go through that trading stuff and still change things up a bit.
Depends on the weapon, like if it's in the last area or the middle of a dungeon you might be screwed, but quite a lot of them you can get relatively early by beating radahn yourself, doing varre quest early + summoning or cheesing for Mohg and then grabbing the weapon
Just enter the DLC early and then bring the weapons out, the only bosses you need to kill in the base game to enter the DLC are Mohg and Radahn or just use them in ng+

going blue dancer's charm, godfrey's icon, shard of alexander, with pearldrake +3 while using rock heart (the dragon communion form) is a pretty good set up for damage

I didn't see half these boss's moves because from post Rellana until just before final boss, I high-poise, high-vigor'd through everything with focus palm. Bosses absolutely fuckin melted.
The final boss was too overwhelming, so i switched to sekiro tear and learned him intimately
Doing this right now, it's a blast. I find it easier to beat human size boss's/enemies. Everything big is just pure pain.

I desperately wanted to make Martial Arts work for the DLC Final Boss, but the lack of range and bleed buildup made it too depressing (and the L1 on my controller is broken so I couldn't even try using the Sekiro tear for safe guard counters), ended up getting it done with a Blood Twinblade.
Such a fun weapon though, I used Dryleaf Arts to beat literally everything else in the DLC as soon as I picked it up
Now that Elden Ring has an hilariously hard DLC that gives you cool kungfu weapons it is officially Dark Souls 2 2

So i haven’t beaten all the dlc yet and explored every thing up to messmer, and he is by far the most fun boss i have fought so far. I have beaten bayle and the wierd knight thingy in the abyss to get to saint trina. Along with the dancing lion and renalla. Messmer is by far the best boss so far.
There is beating Elden Ring and then there is literally BEATING Elden Ring.
