Okay. You guys know a bit about me by now. I had 40 years in the music biz. I used to know Elton a long time ago. His recording sessions were like running a Marathon with one shoe off. Long hours to perfect the tune in every way. He's one of the most meticulous individuals I ever met and I think it's one of the reasons why his body of musical works are so well done. If he ever hears your cover of this tune, he may want to adopt all of you! 😅 Your recording is absolutely spot on. Drums are perfect. Bass is perfect. Guitars perfect. Keys are insanely perfect. Backup vocals are incredible. Lead vocal is as good and maybe even better than Elton. Seriously. Your range, tone, vibrato, dynamics and emotion are perfect. Shit...is there anything you guys can't do perfectly? 😂 Congrats! I just listened to it again and it's rare that I cry when listening to a tune. As a serious musician that can play guitar, bass, drums and keys...and as an engineer and producer who has worked with some huge names over my career...I'm truly in shock at everything you do. For those who are not that deep in the music biz, these guys are truly at the top. But even great musicians don't make great music without great mix and mastering engineers. These guys are as good as anything I've seen in New York, Chicago, Miami, Nashville and Los Angeles. Hell, they could take over Abbey Road and make their recordings much better...and that's an insane, but true, statement. Okay, I'm done....where the hell are my tissues?

I feel like I am 10 years old laying on my bed listening to this album play over and over.
Sounds better the more I listen to it, if that is possible. I relate to this song because I was an Aviation Ordnance "Rocket Man" in the US Navy in the late 60's early 70's. It still touches those good memories in my mind. Best Rendition EVER.
Wow! There are absolutely no weak links here. (Not that there ever is) Every single thing about this was superb. From the lead vocals to the bassist and the drummer. Just a brilliant performance by all.
The three guys on backup vocals were especially great.

This is by far the best rendition I’ve ever heard of this song. The recording quality, lead guitar, and vocal harmonies far exceed the studio recording.
And try to find a version other than the original studio recording where Elton actually hits his high notes. In fact, but the mid 80s he was playing this song in a lower key, and for sure by 2000, it just sounded like crap.
But again, this is awesome.

SO much to love about this performance. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the engineering is outta sight. Hard to pick a favorite part but, if pressed, I'd say the backing vocals are what really shine. The slide guitar is a close second, IMHO. Overall I continue to be impressed by the individual talent coming together to make amazing music together. Kudos to you all! 💕

Everything was great. The piano, the vocals, the backing vocals, the guitars. But, as a bass player I was kind of disappointed not to actually hear the bass in this one. Seriously. Other than that you guys once again did a great job.

So great to see Darren singing. It was the Two Out of Three Ain't Bad performance that saw me find this band, and his vocals on that were fire. Been a while since we heard them again, and it's a welcome return. And the band, as always, are superb - 0:56 is perfection.

SO much to love here from my favorite cover band! Multi-hyphenate Darren; Tzan's celestial guitar sounds; Crafty's vital presence complete with Elton glasses; the bass cam (Yes!!); Mario's drumming and vocals. Mario sang backing vocals with Cam & Darren on the "White Christmas" song with Andy, and the three of them sounded like the Eagles. I wonder if Mario might sing lead for us one day! 😊

And you never cease to amaze me with the high quality and beautiful structure of each video you put out weekly. And I realize you have many great singers displayed in your videos each week, but I think you truly shine with your vocals. This one and Meatloaf’s “Two outta three ain’t bad” are simply amazing and prove to the masses the great balladeer you are!!! Simply LOVE your work!!!

A great rendition of one of the greatest songs ever. Really good to hear Darren on Vocals and piano. All the SIL vocalists are great, but hearing more of Darren would be good. Also, the backing vocals are outstanding.

My god - as someone actually related to 'the Elton' I literally get goosebumps each and every time I hear this take. I realize that Elton had multitrack and all the time in the world to overlay the individual sounds. Your group did this LIVE on camera. Again, MY GOD. This is my second ever comment post to CZcams (first to Singit Live) and it is worth the time. That was incredible! I've heard that song since a kid, and knew the chorus, a bit, but after listening to this rendition, I had to google the lyrics and realise it is a much better song than I first thought. Singit Live did that... Thank you. How the heck does SL only have 166k subscribers? Wrecks have millions... This needs to be fixed... Keep up the good work Singit Live...well done!!!

Darren, I'm not patronizing in saying this, that you are a music engineering genius. Seriously, you keep surprising us the more covers you work up. I'm having a hard time deciding what your "forte" is, man. But, I'm still going to hang my hat on the way you mix these pristine background vocals.......honestly, that's still my favorite element you produce, since I first found SIL on "We Built This City." Background vocals is what made my jaw drop to the floor, and still reigns true with this latest cover.

D, I have to admit, this is the one that SiL has done that FINALLY made me weep. You nearly always do an outstanding job - I had to say nearly since there is probably one song that I have not cared for (just can’t recall right now) - but pure talent by everyone and equally excellent production of this song is outstanding. I wish I lived in the southern hemisphere so that I could come see this performed live. Thank you for the kickoff to my weekend.

Really good cover. :) Years ago, E.J. was a mentor on American idol. I became aware of how many octaves of range he had. I had listened to his songs for ever and it never dawned on me how difficult they were to sing for many.

I've never been a fan of Elton's original, but this was great. It smoothed off the vocals and kept the emotion in them - a difficult combination to pull off!
